I haven't seen any credible sources reporting this, probably some isolated cases or just plain bogus. I've heard this about at least three past firmware updates.

First of all you need a can of preassurized air. Spraying any kind of liquid into a confined and dusty area is tempting fate imho. Get that dust out before you actually try to clean anything. Otherwise, you might just accumulate hardened cakes of dust in unfortunate places.

Lol yeah ;) I was amazed once I actually started cleaning my equipment. Turns out even the small things in life has importance.

Everyone is so quick to judge sony for the PSN downtime and now this. At least sony does something when things go wrong unlike microsoft that denies their problems until 2/3 years later. RROD is still the biggest fail this gen in terms of console failure.

yea but MS are giving their users a new 250GB Slim model if their system develops any problems after the update.

Sony really can't afford that right now so i doubt they'll follow suit, in my opinion of course. it'd be a good thing if they did...but not smart business wise, at least not short term. they lost too much with the PSN hack, then with what they're giving away as a thank u for staying package, then to follow that up with giving away free ps3's for consoles that bricked because of the new update for the PSN hack too...that'd just be too much imo. it'd be the right thing to do(replacing the ps3z)...but they really need to stop the bleeding.

MS takes very good care of its customers...Sony hangs ya'll out to dry when problems comes up usually, thats been more evident this gen than ever. one thing you can say about MS is that even though they milk the hell out of yah to use the 360, but they take damn good care of you once they got you lol. Sony...not so much. MS usually works with it customers and caters to them...when a problem with Sony comes up all the they're pretty much going to do is pull out the pricing sheet and see how much its gonna cost yah, lol.

MS has been great to me in every instance.

i have no complaints with their customer service whatsoever. one rep even got my 360 fixed for free for me while i was out of warranty. their customer service is great. they work with you and try to help...from what i've heard about Sony's they just give you a choice of prices to pay.

That's for older 360 model owners, & it will only affect a small amount of them. They'll be receiving a free 250 GB 360 S model as well as a free 12 month Xbox Live gold subscription.

got an old 60GB PS3 model and didnt have any probs so far.... however been only playing SOCOM online and MVC3..
