We dont know that for sure, we just know the review build has some issues. The final version very well could have the same problems, but we wont know untill its released.
I really don't care what score it gets this game is going to be my personal GOTY along with Too human and Gears2. But the reason's were rather foolish. "too hard" FTL. :([QUOTE="soulsofblayck"][QUOTE="Dreams-Visions"]Shocking, to be honest. No NG iterration before this one has had framerate issues of any kind. I look forward to hearing more about this.[QUOTE="Couth_"]They docked it for frame rate btw, guys..Dreams-Visions
And I see they didn't do any better on the story. an 8.0 there is very unsuprising, yet we hoped for better.
They said "OUR review build" so the framerate might not be included within the final product.
Then they better make an offiical statement. Why they wouldn't give IGN a "gone gold" copy when the game is due out in only a couple weeks (which means mass-production has begun) is beyond me.[QUOTE="Taalon"][QUOTE="LordoftheVacas"]Only gamespot review counts here cows, but nice try thought..LordoftheVacas
oh plz u were one making fun of haze for its 4.5 from IGN till the GS score came out. so hahah eat it lems u have a great flop on your hands, ur mighty AAA title that was supposed to rival MGS4 has flopped!!! HAHAHA

im saying that reviewers have in the past taken into account difficulty in the scoring so having that in there as a neg shouldn't be surprising to anyone because not everyone wants a extremely hard game.XturnalSSo that's a reason to rate a game lower. That's the wrost thing I've ever heard. Not everyone like hard games so let's drop the score. Do you know how stupid that sounds?

Somewhat dissapointing. Im hoping that the retail version really doesnt have the issues mentioned in the review, but i have to say, its very sloppy to send out a build for review, and then just expect everyone to wait for you to fix issues.
Still, Lost Oddyssey had similar issues, and whilst the review text changed, the scores tended not to.

[QUOTE="silentobi"] OMG :roll:Taalon
Playing Ninja Gaiden 2 is a very different experience to playing the majority of games. No other game I've ever played is as rewarding so often. Whether it's for simply beating a wave of blood-thirsty bats or for finally slaying a boss you've been tearing your hair out over for more than an hour, the sense of reward and gratification is practically unrivalled. For every level you beat you feel like you're becoming a better gamer and that's a feeling that very few games can claim to give. This is action gaming at its very best. 9/10
Seems pretty glowing to me.

Because 10s don't always wins, because there are still other games out there. Simple as that.

Well when giving that score they compare it to other games in the genre. They thought it excelled past the last iterations, but that doesn't mean they think its the best game of the year.

justforlotr2004
Let me repeat: GTAIV got 10/10. That's the best score a game is going to get this year. That clearly means it's the best game this year. There's no reason why it shouldn't get GOTY.Taalon
1. Games have gotten 10s in the past and weren't GOTY. Didn't I just say that.
2. We are on the month of may and aren't finish with the year, so how can it be declared.
3. Being 10 doesn't proclaim it being best, it being rated high. A game with a below rating can be a GOTY with reason. GTA4 could have broken ground in the sandbox genre, gaining it 10, but another game could be overall a better game of the year.

Yeah don't get me wrong I don't think really see a 8 or below getting GOTY since it was most likely not even the best game in its genre. Though a game thats 9 or 9.5 could definatly take the cake when it comes to GOTY, not because of the score but because its one of the top games in the genre. Thats why comparing game scores are really hard, especially when its broken down into sub catogories with games like Gears and KZ2. Gears and KZ2 are both shooters but they are in different sub-genre's making the comparison inevitable, but not practical.

Basically the builds we got (as well as the same builds other sites got) were early builds that arrived a couple weeks back. Typically we don't get builds for review that early. I'm guessing this time around, they wanted us to have ample time to really play through the game. Knowing the higher level of difficulty involved with the Ninja Gaiden series, a little extra time to play is a good idea...however this meant that the builds we got were a little earlier than what's supposed to show up on the retail builds.
In the note we got with the review builds, this was mentioned, and recently (Friday) we also got note that the framerate/load times were most notably a result of the builds not being final.
so the final, retail version should be more optimized and so forth...
In most cases, we get a review build a week or so before the game's release, so the code is usually identical to retail code. This time, it came almost a month before the game's release, which meant they were made with not so final code...
The problem is, there are sites out there now basing their score on this...and some are pointing out these issues that should hopefully be addressed.
The dilemma for us was to either hit the embargo, and cash in on all the page views and attention we'd get for getting the review up ASAP, or get it up later, after many other sites post theirs...we choose the later in order to ensure a more accurate review....
It's a crapy postion for us because sure we'd love to have our review up now, but we want to make sure our review well reflects the game's final performance. Sure we are going to lose some of the wind in the sails by holding it and not having it up right now along with the rest of the sites that went ahead and posted theirs, but oh well...
Still, it does somewhat burn my chaps to see it up elsewhere while we are still sitting on it...because of something that was out of our control.Shockwave

no, just this one and my own. and it's not damage control. it's insight. obviously Shockwave doesn't have anything to gain by holding back the review. They're LOSING money by not posting it now. That's a relief. NG is not the kind of game where you would want the frame rate bogging down when you're in the middle of concentrating on something. Hopefully it will be really solid when it's released.

Why are reviews coming out based on old builds that have frame rate problems?, they were told to wait for retail copies of the game as these issues are fixed.
I just can't take reviews seriously anymore, it's like they are done by children who are running as fast as they can to win da race. Just pathetic.

Not as pathetic as a reputable developer sending out old and buggy builds for review, and then expecting everyone to drop everything and wait for them while they fix it.
