Gaming is dying.

Too bad drawing premature conclusions isn't...
Ah ha ha ha! This made my day. :)
They are going to make more difficult games the only reason Nintendo games aren't hard anymore is so they don't alienate people. But with this they will make the games harder.nintendo games aren't HARD anymore though, what difficult parts would we have to skip? :?

are you kidding? Every zelda after majora's mask has been easy.Well yeah, games like LttP, OoT and MM were better then TP, and the fact that they provided a decent challenge definetly has something to do with it. TP wasn't a very rewarding game to beat, regardless of the fact it took around 40 hours to do so
Next they're going to start including codes for infinite lives and level skipping.
What's next Nintendo, Up-Up-Down-Down-Left-Right-Left-Right-B-A?

that's just as bad as the rewind feature in Forza 3...
destroys the fun of games.

Only if you use it, which no one is making you.
Did any of you play Grid? It's worth it just to witness the gleeful damage [QUOTE="boredy-Mcbored"][QUOTE="surrealnumber5"] man grouping a whole population with varied views is...... ironicsurrealnumber5
I was talking about the people who are making a big deal about it. I'm sure you knew what I was talking about anyway.
yea just read your post then sig and the "powa of teh cell" compelled meUm I'm sorry but I have no idea what your talking about at all... :?:P
Nobody is afraid developrs will abuse this feature to cut back on gameplay balances that normally ensure a smooth and consistent gameplay experience?
When i'm playing a game on normal and suddely hit a brick wall forcing me to skip a section to continue my merry way there is likely something wrong with the dificulty curve of that section. lazy developrs will just throw in all sorts of untested gimmick events without any effort as they know it wont be hurting the reviews seeing as its just skippable.

ok that was a joke on " the power of christ compels..." i lived between the god loving and ignorant south and the well some what educated dicks in the north so i tend to make jokes at both. that was a joke at the expense at both the ps3 and the southern states of the united states. This is just like the rewind feature in Forza 3, optional. I don't see people going crazy over that.SMR-Venom
That's because Nintendo has nothing to do with Forza 3.
Now, repeat after me: NINTENDO IS TEH KILLIN TEH GAMEIN OH NOES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111
I guess i can see where theyre coming from. theyre now trying to take the casual fanbase that theyve aquired, and expose them to different kinds of games (with stories, action, and an actual point) in hopes of turning them into core gamers.
this is a good thing.
Nintendo has always catered to casuals.
However, this is a step not only in the wrong direction, but off a cliff.

Only time will tell. As for me, it is the right step! This will alow them to creat more difficult levels!

One could only hope that's the case.
However they could be basing this idea off of the fact that people are currently not buying games like Super Mario Galaxy, or Metroid for their Wii because those players find the games too difficult....So they'll probably just dumb down the difficulty of those games, and not actually try to make harder games in the future :(

You also have to consider this as well: any developer that wants to use it, including Nintendo, will have to dedicate time and effort to utilize the system. I think it's a bit more than just 'skipping ahead'. with some innovative thinking, it could allow for some new opportunties on a few different levels.
I wonder if it came about from developers wanting to make more difficult games, but that is obviously a smaller audience. Seeing how hard it is to have a hit game these days, and since casual arguably sells best on Wii, this could be an effective way to cater more to 'teh hardcore'.
And who knows? If it's successful, we could see Sony and MS make their own rip off version of it, which kind of happened with motion controls and Mii's.
It's all speculation though. Can't really judge it until we see it implemented.
Exactly. You dont have to use it, but for more casual gamers who just want to have fun, and are not bothered about 100% completion, this is a really good idea.Wow. I didn't know it was this hard for people to understand what the word "optional" means. This also means that Nintendo is making hard games again, finally.
Brawl578
Has anyone considered that this is a great idea for a 2nd or 3rd playthrough of a game? Remember the tedious fetch quest in Wind Waker, or collected tears of light in Twilight Princess? It would have been awesome if you did not have to play through those parts of the game and have it automatically do it for you. There are always parts of most games that are annoying that people would rather not play. I see no problem with this for people who have already completed a game on their own, andthen use this feature during another playthrough of a game.
This should have ended it long ago. If you don't like it don't use it. Same with any other game that offers help systems. I never turned on the hint system in Metroid Prime games, never used any hints in Zack and Wiki, and I don't rely on cheats or guides for my RPGs.It's optional you frigging drama queens.

My brain wasn't working a couple hours ago. :P
Oh and yea that's what my sig was supposed to do. I acquired the logic from another situation for a completely different situation on another board and it just so happened to happen on this board. I compiled that with the fact that I used to think that ignorant had the 2nd definition (because of the wording) and thought it made perfect sense on SW.
I know I should'nt care, but something about playing a game where I could simply skip to the end kind of cheapens it, even if I don't use it. People are praising it because now hard games can be bypassed by casuals and unskilled players. Is'nt this what difficulty levels are for?TheGrat1Difficulty levels don't completely redesign a game to make it more challenging. All it does is crank up the A.I. and add a little bit more damage etc... Its completely useless for games like platformers or games like zelda where the challenge is in the puzzles.
i lost faith in nintendo ever since the NESsacredtext62I've lost faith in you ever since i read this post. Really though how is something that's optional disappointing???

Don't forget the part where Microsoft claims they didn't copy from Nintendo at all, and this is their own original idea!
. Looks like you are done with school too. Honestly, this is optional and not mandatory (not sure how it could be anyway). If you have ever used an FAQ(I have) this is the freaking same.i cant beleeve this....niteno is catering towards the cazuals with this one. its offishal.. im done with nitedo

that works for cheats, that you have to search for...
but if it's out in the open for you to use, too many people will use it all willy-nilly. I just think it destoys the pleasure of accomplishing something if you can just skip or re-do part of the game....
It looks like the super casual zelda prototype is becoming a reality. Do casuals really want this, for games to have ZERO challenge? Where the heck is the fun in this? I do not know.Have gamers really became that brain dead. Or is this just Nintendo forcing this crap upon us gamers that play games to be challenged. Heck why even call them games?
It's no different than cheats, glitches, FAQs and game guides. Things that have been part of gaming for a looong time.IronBass
I'm not sure this is just taking it to a new level....being able to press a button to complete skip a section of a game is kind of lame if you ask me.
