How can the loyal nintendo fan even associate with such a company anymore?

Im not even going to get started on the Wii, so lets look at the failing 3DS. An underpowered, overpriced handheld with barely any support.

As if all the cancelled games wasn't enough, Nintendo were forced to cease their greedy tactics and reduce the price. A real kick in the nuts for early adopters .... oh wait no, nintendo are offered free crappy games that people would have never bought anyway. Reputation saved.

You can really tell Nintendo put barely any effort into the 3DS. Its a DS with 3D capabilities, woopdy doo. Wheres the innovation? Are Nintendo even trying? Its not often I say this, but at least Sony is trying something original with their next handheld.

I mean really Nintendo? You're going to release a fisher-price add on for your rushed handheld and expect people to snap it up? How such an impractical, cheap looking, ugly add-on was even be allowed past the planning stage is beyond me.

Its beyond ridiculous. What annoys me is that because its Nintendo, they get away with it. The fact that people are even remotely excited about the WiiU proves this.

The WiiU :-

  • A 2012 console with outdated tech that barely surpasses current consoles that are nearing 6 years old
  • It comes with a huge Leapfrog controller with unsatisfactory circle pads instead of analogue sticks and a screen destined for gimmicky features
  • Only supports one WiiU controller, take it in turns kids
  • Has **** all dev support, like all nintendo home consoles
  • Has been giving what devs who are actually supporting it all kinds of issues as its a complete RUSHJOB of a console

Oh but its okay, its got the nintendo logo on it. More zelda and more mario. Yayy.

While i disagree with the title, that 2nd analog is just terrible. Also, how is vita original? If anything the 3DS is more original.

Yep. More Zelda and Mario, which are awesome franchises. If you don't like them, no one will force you to get a NIntendo console :)

Unfortunately I mostly agree with what you said OP. I don't think Nintendo has become a cancer to the games industry but I agree with pretty much everything you said in your post.

Oh and can i just add, the press conference was a complete disappointment. I hope nintendos shares just keep falling because they need one hell of a wake-up call.

Don't agree with the topic title, but I agree with your post, however.

EDIT: Minus the part about the Wii U. Nothing has really been confirmed about it yet.

They had a lot of games that were just plain uninteresting.

Just a handful of them were cool.

The 2nd analog just looks horrible too.

But Nintendo is far from being the Cancer of the Industry just because you don't like them....>_>

The Real Cancer is all of that DRM bull crap and Online Passes.

So, what happens when developers start developing for the revised 3DS and the games are made with two "sticks" in mind? There's no logic trying to defend what Nintendo has done here, it's totally ludicrous and betrayel against loyal customers.

Its not. Its proof that Nintendo rushed the 3DS out the door. They saw the Vita, they saw the dual analogue support and they panicked.

Its funny actually, i remember all the nintendo loyalists arguing saying it didnt need dual analogue, and that the touch screen was enough. Clearly not sheep.

If it wasn't optional then wouldn't they have said something about it in the Conference?

I smell blog material, pal.

Just because you don't like a company or product doesn't make it a "cancer" on the industry.

And how long will that last? Pretty much every console game is based on dual analogue controls. Its what the gamers have wanted for handhelds, and with the Vita they've got it. There will definitely be a ton of games for the 3DS that will require it. And whats an even bigger kick in the teeth for the early adopters is that nintendo will no doubt release a revision next year with built in dual analogue support.

The fact that only four games out of the many, many games announced even support it (even though every game announced could 'benefit' from dual analog) gives you the answer, doesn't it? How many games supported the Motion+? There will definitely be a revision, we all already know that. Anyone who buys a handheld knows that. How will it be a kick? It won't. You don't even know a 3DS, you aren't an early adopter, what do you know about what early adopters feel about their purchase?

Wi Motion was a joke in the first place, never mind Wii motion +. Its not that motion + wasnt getting support, the wii in general wasnt. Dual analogue controls are standard and proven, many types of games need it to be played properly.

Well, I haven't been happy with Nintendo for a while following the 3DS launch. But at present, the second stick IS optional.

It's also not going to be more than £10-15, and will most likely be bundled in with some of games that make use of it (I'm almost certain of it). As for the NES games? They could've done nothing, but it's a nice gesture nonetheless. As for a lack of support...did you see the conference last night? They showed a ton of software.

Still, you can't say like someone did earlier in the tread that Nintendo won't lock out a lot of customers(loyal ones at that) if they don't want to buy an overpriced and tacky addon(which make it like 25% bigger at that). I'm frickin' happy right now that I decided to wait buying a 3DS.

are you serious? is this the gamecube launch or what? hilarious that people talk about COD milkage, and this is what nintendo has to offer. we've seen over half of those games in one form or another before, and in most cases, multiple entries.

Yes, I'm sure you've seen a very many amount of Paper Mario, Luigi's Mansion, Kid Icarus, Fire Emblem or Resident Evil games before, right?

[QUOTE="charizard1605"] Really? The first (and only) game that REQUIRES Motion+ is being released in November. Try again.charizard1605

wait, how come I couldn't start Red steel 2 when I forgot to borrow the wii motion plus along with the game from a friend?

I'm sorry, I forgot about that game. Fine, there are a grand total of THREE games (including one that has not been released yet) that REQUIRE Motion+. Oh my, oh my, whatever shall I do?

4 actually, 5 if you include Zelda. And thats besides the point. The Wii is dead and its motion controls proven a joke. Even Nintendo have abandoned it with the WiiU.

HOWEVER, dual analogue is a standard, proven control scheme. How can you play an FPS properly on the 3DS with one analogue stick. You cant.

Yes, because both Sony and Microsoft are both FAMOUS for having only original IPs and no sequels

Does that matter? Oh yeah I forgot - reusing successful IP's is the biggest sin in gaming.

How will Nintendo lock out anyone if the add on is never required?
