That was all PSP fanboys who wanted it![QUOTE="bbkkristian"][QUOTE="mmmwksil"]
They made a bad decision to release a handheld without a second analog stick? I don't recall DS owners hitting the streets for a second analog stick...
mmmwksil
Guess it all makes sense now. Nintendo didn't listen to the complaints of the PSP fans. Mystery solved!!
DS gamers didnt even have one analogue stick, never mind 2
PSP owners saw the downfalls of having one, hence Sony doing dual analogue on the Vita. Nintendo on the other hand just dont care. Theyd rather nickel and dime you with add ons than actually release a competent piece of hardware these days.

the thing is most of the time the DS didnt even need one to begin with oh....the irony.Bout every DS game i played was absolutely fine without an analogue.
PSP on the other hand suffered because it was a toggle stick not an analogue, was hell for playing Ace combat on tbh most of the time i resorted to the good ol dpad for it.
I've owned both handhelds btw.

How can you try and justify the missing second stick just because the competition is doing it? Where was the PSP's touchscreen to compete with the DS?
Obviously, Sony didn't care.

Why defend this pathetic piece of plastic? Why not accept that maybe nintendo should have included it in the handheld in the first place, and not rushed it out the door with cheaply painted plastic at a ridiculous price?

Funny because you seem to forget that the DS Phat, the first DS, looked like a cheap handheld from China with Game&Watch graphics. DS owners never complained about the lack of analog sticks because the second screen with touch controls was sufficient. Adding a single analog stick means that you can use the D-pad for more controls so a second analog stick is unnecessary unless you're crazy with analog sticks.Because its been the standard in controls for over a decade now? *cracks knuckles* Here we go...
Standard in controls for CONSOLES, not handhelds. Different market & standards.
People asked for a second analog stick on PSP/Vita, which they got. My heart's out to them.
Nintendo released the add-on for use with Monster Hunter, probably under request from Capcom to make their game work. I mean, it's the game that would give Nintendo an edge over the Vita. Tit-for-tat.
I don't defend the 3DS, I'm just bringing up counterpoints for the sake of argument. It's why we come to System Wars. It provides me with entertainment, so I do it. :P
I accept that Nintendo rushed the 3DS out to market to capitalize on the inital WOW factor regarding the 3D. I still am not convinced including the second stick is necessary or vital for the survival of the handheld. And I agree the initial price point was ridiculous, and am now happy they lowered it. I am still not happy the Vita is $250, however. These are handhelds, darn it, I don't want to pay $200+ for a pocket device.
I think that covered everything. ;)

I agree. What is with this idea so many people have that handhelds aren't allowed to emulate the experience of a console? Who made that rule, Nintendo? What is wrong with broadening your horizons, and having the exclusive handheld experiences already present on handhelds, but also having the added dimension of an optional console experience if wanted? Why should a handheld limit itself is the question. I personally think it shouldn't be limited. If the technology is feasible and available, then handhelds should continue to provide the unique experiences only available on handhelds, but also provide the option to play your favorite console games with the proper console control options.
The people that have a problem with console games/controls on handhelds are way too closed minded. Your exclusive handheld games/experiences aren't going anywhere. What is wrong with having more controller options? What is the problem with having more game options? More genre options? More input options? Options are never a bad thing, especially when they all perform well. The reason that handhelds haven't been more home console focused in the past have been due to hardware limitations. They have always tried to emulate consoles in a way, the DS launched with Mario 64, the GBA launched with Super Mario World. It's just that now with the emergence of PSVita, true console experiences are a reality and I'm all for it. Don't think for a second that unique handheld experiences will be absent on the Vita, there will be a ton of games that emphasize the unique gameplay experiences possible on the handheld.

That has yet to be proven. Nintendo at least has experience with touch screen in a handheld, whereas Sony is on their first go around. I'll try the Vita for sure, but I'm sure it will take some time for developers to get used to something new, like the Vita touch pads.

And what's Nintendo's excuse? What more evident you want when Wii isthe first console in gaming history that its first on console race AND LACK 98% of ALL AAA/AA Multis the best developers release for the dead third PS3!! Isnt something fishy here for Nintendo? LegatoSkyheart
That's not a whole lot of evidence dude.
With Nintendo when they make a New System why should they continue supporting something that's going to die off soon.
Sony dropped just about all support for the PS2, The only thing they are doing is just shipping the system, None of thier Studios are actually making PS2 games only 3rd Parties.
I don't even remember there being anymore Xbox Original games coming out when the 360 came out, the only real support Microsoft gave it after the 360 came out was Xbox Live and that's gone now.
I'm looking at Nintendos Games and it doesn't really seem like they betrayed fans or Supported fans, They just made games with everyone in Mind, Super Mario Galaxy gives Fans and New Commers a Great Mario Game, Super Smash Bros. Brawl gives Fans and New Comers a great Brawler Game, etc......
Some Fans didn't like Kirby's Epic Yarn, But look There's a New Kirby Game coming out where it plays like the other Kirby Games. Were Fans Betrayed?
Oh they must have been Betrayed when Other M came out, because the game gave Samus a little bit more of a personality.
Sorry but im talking with facts and you dont. PS2 had GREAT support even into PS3 era. Games were releasing even into second year of PS3... What are you talking about? You miss my point it seems. Also you pointing out my other concern which is as i said , lack of best AAA/AA multis from best developers !! You talking about mario , mario , mario and ...mario , kirbys and metroid and ... Listen yourself. My point exactly. Now think again that Wii is first on sales by far this gen. You gave a bad example. Xbox... Xbox NEVER was in lead on its generation. Xbox was far behind PS2. I gave you legit examples of consoles that sold pretty good and had awesome support even when next gen came. Since you didnt read , ill post again. NES/GENESIS/SNES/PSONE/PS2/AMIGA500/ATARI2600... Sony is selling the Vita at a loss. Why does it matter to you if Sony profits and whether or not they sell their products at a loss? As consumers, we win when we buy products from Sony, because we're getting the good deal and they're taking the hit. Whereas when we buy products from Nintendo, we lose because they are overpricing their hardware so that they can sell at a considerable profit.

At a higher cost. And is Sony going into releasing the Vita selling at a profit, or a loss?[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"][QUOTE="Timstuff"]Nintendo had it first, but Sony is doing it better.arkephonic
Nintendo doesn't have a lucrative electronics EMPIRE to fund their pet project

So Nintendo should be held to a lower standard than the competition? As a customer, how does that make sense?[QUOTE="arkephonic"]

That's true, Nintendo doesn't have the ability to sell hardware at a loss. But to act like it is a bad thing that Sony sells their hardware at a loss is ridiculous, how would that possibly be a bad thing for us as consumers?
It's a huge advantage that Sony has over Nintendo. When you buy Nintendo hardware, you have to pay more to compensate for the fact that they're a smaller company that can't afford to sell their products at a loss, whereas with Sony, they can afford to sell their products at a loss, therefore we as consumers win when we buy Sony.
Sony is able to sell the latest and greatest technology at competitive prices, while Nintendo literally cannot do that without going bankrupt. That's why Nintendo is always a step behind technology wise in all of their hardware despite still being expensive.

So Nintendo should be held to a lower standard than the competition? As a customer, how does that make sense? It doesnt and Wii is the perfect example. Look the Wii-mote isnt awesome? ( but we wont mention how bad Wii is ). Doesnt this remind you all the fuss about Wii-U controller and no fuss AT ALL about Wii-u? Deja vu anyone? Please Log In to post.
