Now that 360 graphics have failed to match PS3's, is there any hope for Gears 3?

[QUOTE="KevinButlerVP"] well it's nothing new, hyping unreleased 360 games as console graphics king until they come out... then it's on to the next unreleased graphics powerhouse! games like Alan Wake prove this, 360 games that haven't been released get massive hype behind the graphics until they come out and flop in that aspect. it's happened every timeKevinButlerVP

I am the farthest thing from a lemming, and am not hyping anything.

It's just a fact that based on what i've seen so far, gears of war 3, crysis 2, and RAGE look better than Uncharted 2.

...Okay RAGE, doesn't really look better, it's just running at 60fps and is open world, so over all it beats UC2.

again, u can't say all that because they haven't been released btw if u watch some crysis alpha footage it looks just plain bad, I'm sure it will improve but I just know it's not going to live up to the hype on consoles

Crysis 2

here you go. Best representation of what the final game will look like.

the be the weapon trailer looks exactly the same as that, The only difference is the be the weapon trailer has screen tearing, and lots of it. The screen tearing will not be present in the final game.

Christ,cows are just ridiculous.

You cows used to be funny/desperate.Now you're just annoying.

Lto_thaG

I'm not disagreeing with you in any way, but the same goes for lemmings, sheep, and hermits too. IMO cows and lemmings are the worst out of all.

You are indeed correct that the ps3 currently has the top 3 best looking console games technically speaking.

But to say that the xbox 360 cannot produce these visuals is nonsense.

There are 3 games coming out on the xbox 360 this year that Have better technical visuals than the current CGK, so that just throws your theory out the window.

So because it's open world and runs smoothly (UC2 also runs fine) means RAGE is better than UC2, regardless of all other gameplay aspects? You lost some respect points there.

[QUOTE="-Snooze-"]

[QUOTE="Mrmccormo"] Interesting how you pull the "it's just your opinion" card and then in the next breath say that RDR (which has worse textures, more glitches, and fewer graphical effects such as explosions, smoke, etc.) "comes out on top" compared to UC2.KevinButlerVP

As has been explained ...

Uncharted "looking" better is opinion. A game being more technical would be fact, correct? Is it not logically to assume a game as vast and graphically stunning as RDR is far more demanding then a linear, scripted game?

GOW3 on GS actually won the best technical graphics award this year over RDR and is getting graphics awards on othersites too

so I guess you helped to prove my point

GOW3 winning was a JOKE. Metro 2033 on the PC trashes GOW3. GS technical awards has been a JOKE for the past couple of years. These guys thought Metal Gear Solid 4 looks better than Crysis Warhead. Go figures.

Ramen1020

Better? Perhaps not, but if it looks as good as it does, and runs at 60fps while being somewhat open world, yeah that does earn it bonus points. Carmack himself said that if he ran it at 30fps instead of 60fps he could acheive "3-times the graphics fidelity".

I never said that wasn't impressive, I just don't like it when someone uses flawed logic to prove one game is "better" than another.

^^ I was making a graphical comparison, I have no idea how good of a game rage will be.

And yes, Uncharted 2 runs at 30fps, while RAGE is both open world and runs at 60fps. And, not only that, but the level of visual fidelity RAGE has while doing all that is seriously impressive. I'm sure it'll being doing more technically than Uncharted 2 when it's all said and done.

Can I haz my respect back? :3

Ha, alright, I thought you were comparing the overall games. It's hard to tell a reasonable argument with an illogical one on SW.

So yes, *gives back respect*.

it's a john carmack engine, ID tech 5, i completely agree with you, you can pretty much guarantee i will be doing more technically, the only problem i have with carmacks engines is the fact he leaves them 'as is' for too long before he releases a new engine.

Ok, I had assumed you were talking gfx, but you're discussing overall game quality. I doubt RAGE will be up to Uncharted 2 overall quality. I can almost guarantee it won't, but it's gfx will be right up there with the best. Doom 4 will be the real monster, though. I love the gameplay and atmosphere of the Doom games too.

seriously, play doom 3 on ultra high, your PC should run it unless it's the millenium falcon of PC's, but play it without the MOD that lets you use a gun and a flashlight at the same time, that mod takes a hell of a lot of the tension away.

It's worse than the millenium falcon. I don't have a gaming pc :P my cpu is pretty good, but the onboard graphics card can't even run doom 3 at minimum :(

that sucks man, doom 3 is one of the greates games i ever played, any way, posted the sytem requirements, just in case •A 1.5 GHz Intel Pentium 4 chip or AMD Athlon 1500 •384 MB RAM •2 GB hard disk space •An nVidia GeForce 3 graphics card or better; or an ATI Technologies 8500 or better thats for minimum settings.

You're in for treat. Don't let haters sway you.

I'm 27, and I've played all the id games since Commander Keen. Their FPS titles have always had the same feel to them. It's hard to explain. Maximum Brute Force or Ultimate Evil would be a good terms to describe them.:P

I bought a Radeon 9800 for Doom 3 and it was truly a generational leap in gfx and atmosphere. Not to mention some downright evil ****. Gave me the same feeling as the original Doom, where you feel like demons are in your room about to butcher you while you play.
