[QUOTE="SKaREO"]Nobody makes games for the PC anymore except Valve and they still use the 9 years old Source Engine. So who cares about $650 graphics cards if the games are designed for last-gen hardware? The days of beefy graphics cards winning the war are over. Only good games can win this battle with the next-gen, and so far the consoles are creaming us. Valve is too busy making trading cards on Steam, no chance we will see Half-Life 3 anytime soon.avshaman

This is what I have been saying. I like gaming on PCs and i have been gaming on them regularly since ps1 generation and sporatically before then, but nobody really makes big, graphically advanced games for the Pc exclusively any more. Basically we play cleaner, faster running multiplats and low-budget indie games, RTSs and MMORPGS.

PS4 is going to change the whole landscape. It is such a leap ahead of the Xbox One that multiplats are going to be quite polished already on the PS4, and PC will really only be if you want to go really big and game on multiple monitors, or super high res monitors. But past 1080p it really begins to reach a point of diminishing returns for me. As long as  a game has a fairly solid frame rate and decent anti-aliasing I am golden.

...for more than a single consoleMonsieurX
I'd rather get a more mid range card, since they still offer seriously monstrous performance for a 3rd of the price.

[QUOTE="tormentos"][QUOTE="kipsta77"]

Moral of the story: When you try to compare ps4 hardware to a midrange pc's, its a joke.

Consoles aim for 720p/60fps or 1080p/30fps, 90% of PC gamers ARE NOT satisfied with that.

kipsta77

By steam stats you are full of sh**... 1080p is the most used res with only 30% penetration, fallow by more than 20% that game on basically just a bit higher than 720p. Most gamers also have 1GB cards which are not the greatest for 1080p 60FPS either in many games...

Steam stats isn't worthy info. Not everyone takes the survey as it is optional. I didn't.

Many PC gamers are gaming at 1440p or even 1600p.

Just admit you can't win. I'll be here all day.

Ginosaji

I've never had to choose between a PC and a console anyway. I need a PC regardless. It always comes down to buying a console or upgrading my GPU.

That's true. I think for me it is just a question of how much I am going to play on PC and how much on console. I think I will end up playing more on PS4 this generation, but I will still have my PC and will probably upgrade it at some point.

[QUOTE="tormentos"] The 780GTX alone is $649 dollars that is probably $250 more than a PS4 will cost nice try..:lol:tormentos

Because I need to buy a 780gtx.., grasping for straws ftw!

But you would not get top end graphics which is the whole point, why pay $300 for a 7950 to get marginal better graphics at best than the PS4.? So you need something great and sadly that cost allot arguing against the PS4 using nothing but the best is a joke, what is the purpose of getting just a bit better graphics over the PS4,i see no point in that so nothing but the best or the argument is a joke.

Why is it the point ? If it was the point why even sell lower end PC hardware?

[QUOTE="RyviusARC"]If it was a difference between 30fps and 18 fps then 12fps would be night and day.

So it depends on the total fps and not just the gap.

Oh and give me that crystal ball which seems to tell you the exact power of the PS4.

tormentos

33 FPS vs 43 FPS is nothing and will barely be seen,in fact many consoles games actually hover over 30 FPS.

Y U SO MAYED?

Oh well, it's Tormentos, what do we expect haha.

i really cannot believe there are people who really think a 4-600 dollar console with cameras, headset and controller will equal a 650+tax gpu. If you are a child, this card is not for you!(most of system wars). Ask mom and daddy ,santa claus and maybe they will buy you a new toy (ps4/xb1/Wiiu) for the holidays

Who gives a fck. Last gen engines. How much is the card+setup? $2000? Even hardcore pc fans no its smart to wait and see what is offered until after the consoles get going.

you don't need a $649 GPU to have a computer that beats next-gen consoles. 300 will do.  Soon 250 maybe even 200.

For $650 it better have awesome performance given that is guaranteed to be at least 1.5x what either console costs. If the 8800GTS didn't kill the PS3/360 at $300 then the GTX 780 sure as heck won't at more than twice that price.

Picked it up like 5 weeks ago and its a 2gig card( not a 4g like yours x2 :) ). With the evga step up i can fork over $280 for the 780. Hell I waited like 8 months for a price drop on the 670/680 and they actually got more expensive. Id just rather have a single card and have more ram/higher bandwidth. Plus the card looks cool

[QUOTE="tormentos"][QUOTE="lostrib"]but PC gaming has the most games, and the most highly rated games. Sounds like a safe betlostrib

Yeah what does it serve you to have 10 million games,is 9,999,980 of them suck and only 10 are great, now before you go into your usual trolling it was and example... So yeah quality matter allot, and consoles apparently for some reason had the edge even without the most powerful hardware.

which part of "the most highly rated games" didn't you understand? As in, the greatest number of high rated games.

The peasants are so desperate these days, they have really only 2 legit arguments against PC gaming but somehow they try to turn their opinion of PC and console games into universal facts

[QUOTE="2ndWonder"][QUOTE="Ballroompirate"]

I'd rather get a  GTX 660 which is $200-$260, spending over $350 let alone $649 for a GC is just too pricey.

Ballroompirate

my 7870 (which I just got) was only $200

The "high end" 660's are around $260, the normal 660's are $200, I'd look into other GC's brands  but I'm a Nvidia user :P

high end=690gtx..........

if you use the word fact, you should have facts to back it up.  lostrib
http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crysis-3-performance-benchmark-gaming,3451-6.html Look at that frigging drop from 53 FPS average to 33 lowest that is 20 FPS drops dude,no console game that i know has a 20 frames drop to 10 FPS that is silly..

While Crytek targets a 30FPS update on both consoles, in practice neither system manages to achieve anywhere near that level of smoothness on a sustained basis. In some like-for-like scenes with short draw distances and few effects on-screen, both versions manage 30-32FPS for short periods of time but the engine fails to sustain this for long. Instead we see general frame-rates hovering between the 24-28FPS mark

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-crysis-3-face-off So yeah PC sinks more than consoles, and Crysis 3 is basically the worst offender. Have a nice day..

But here you have, ladies and gentlemen, according to Tormentos consoles are better than PC because they perform below 30 fps. That logic  Damn.

At least we can play Crysis 3 without making another gross investment,so how is the 7800GTX from 2005 running Crysis 3 now.? Oh it doesn't play them you don't say but those GPU cost more on 2005 than a complete xbox 360 how can't they play the games we play now.? And to think that a $300 dollar console is playing now Crysis 3 and the $500 dollar GPU of that era are dead and unsupported,7 years from now we would still be getting PC games of that era, while the 780GXT that is $650 dollars will be dead and forgotten as well...

You know that we don´t have to buy a new PC to play at better resolutions, right. Many will just change their GPUs. That will cost them arround 200-500$. Much cheeper than buying a next gen consoles with a small list of games. And 780GTX will be much cheeper by Christmass. ATI´s 9000 series will be released as well. PC doesn´t require frequent updates any more.

cry as much as you want about prices consolites. The think is $200-300 midrange solutions from Nvidia,AMD ( you know cards most pc gamers buy ) will offer gtx680 comparable performance at a price much lower than consoles so instead of playing specs wars try and focus on games on offer

How is it paying $10-20 more for games since ever? How is it not having offers like Bioschock 1+2 bundle for 3euros ? How is it for xbox owners paying to play online ? How is having to buy DLC instead either getting it for free ( some companies offer free DLC for pc ) or getting a Mod ?

How is it buying a new 500-600 console and only getting 1-2 free games yet you buy a 200-300 gpu and you get 4 free games ?

I'd rather upgrade my Cpu/mobo once and my GPU once ( about $500 all 3components ) since 2006 and be able to play games at better graphics and with mods rather spending hundreds more for game prices and even playing online

[QUOTE="jhonMalcovich"]And if we set the resolution at 720p and low details, which is the console quality, will it sink more ? :roll:tormentos
At least we can play Crysis 3 without making another gross investment,so how is the 7800GTX from 2005 running Crysis 3 now.? Oh it doesn't play them you don't say but those GPU cost more on 2005 than a complete xbox 360 how can't they play the games we play now.? And to think that a $300 dollar console is playing now Crysis 3 and the $500 dollar GPU of that era are dead and unsupported,7 years from now we would still be getting PC games of that era, while the 780GXT that is $650 dollars will be dead and forgotten as well...

yes but the game looks like utter shit on consoles

http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/crysis-3-performance-benchmark-gaming,3451-6.html Look at that frigging drop from 53 FPS average to 33 lowest that is 20 FPS drops dude,no console game that i know has a 20 frames drop to 10 FPS that is silly..

But it stays above 30, so no big deal. Unlike the console version, which will drop into unplayable frame rates

The peasants are so desperate these days, they have really only 2 legit arguments against PC gaming but somehow they try to turn their opinion of PC and console games into universal factsNoodleFighter
Spare me, you probably only make $100k per year. Just my home theater sofa alone probably cost more than your earnings last quarter. I love how you PC gamers justify having to rig up a laptop to a gamepad to an HDTV to emulate how all I have to do is plop my arse down and just play. And for those of you who actually still game sitting at a desktop.... you're sad.

When we say peasants we mean peasants of mind. People like you who still think pc gaming is complex or it costs thousands upon thousands and we need to upgrade every month. People like you who think that your opinion is a fact ( case in point you think everyone prefers their couch over their office chair yet here i am preferring $300 anatomic office chair and that 24" monitor of mine instead sitting on my couch 3-4 meters away from my 42" Tv ) Also the only Sad one i see here is you who goes on about how much they earn on an internet forum as if anyone cares or believe you. To me you are just a sad troll
