Do you realize that PS4 just doesn´t have many games confirmed ? That at launch it will have probably 9 games, only 2 of them exclusives ? That it will have to sell at least 10M units to be considered viable for exclusives, otherwise WiiU scenario will be repeated?

PC is the safest bet next gen.

12 FPS is a rather large amount. and those numbers are without AA. at 4x AA the 7850 is below 30fps and 7870 is barely above 30, with the 7950 around 40

Do you realize that PS4 just doesn´t have many games confirmed ? That at launch it will have probably 9 games, only 2 of them exclusives ? That it will have to sell at least 10M units to be considered viable for exclusives, otherwise WiiU scenario will be repeated?

PC is the safest bet next gen.

12 FPS is quite a bit.  FXAA is terrible, it makes things all blurry. So now you're changing the situation from 1600p to 1200p? And where can I find proof that the PS4 is stronger and more efficient than 7850?

Then why did you bring up numbers for 1600p in the first place?  And no matter what you think, 12 fps is a significant increase.  also, you have yet to give any source where you are pulling these numbers from.  And sorry if I don't blindly accept your claim that the PS4 is stronger and more efficient than 7850. If you are going to state that as fact, then you better have proof that backs it up.

By the time the PS4 comes out prices will be dropped anyway.

A 7850 will be very cheap by then and you could OC it for a lot better performance.

Personally I am waiting for the Maxwell series to come out early next year since it is a completely new GPU design and should have a huge boost in performance compared to the GTX 700 series.

I am hoping for a performance difference of 9800GTX to GTX 280 or GTX 280 to GTX 480 which was about an 80% difference.

I was responding to his claim that PC gaming can't be cheap because of the existence of a $650 GPU.  780 is a high end card, there are cheaper budget friendly cards that give good performance

if you look at steam stats, the vast majority is above 720p, and then there are all the people with multimonitor set ups

The PS4's GPU is based on the 7970m but with 2 CU removed.

The 7970m performs in the middle of a 7850 and 7870.

Compare specs between the 7970m and 7870.

7970= 20CU 1280SP 2176 GFLOPS

7870= 20CU 1280SP 2560 GFLOPS

Now the 7870 is still easily beats the 7970m

And the PS4 is a gimped version of the 7970m

The 7850 when overclocked can match or exceed the stock 7870 performance.

Nobody makes games for the PC anymore except Valve and they still use the 9 years old Source Engine. So who cares about $650 graphics cards if the games are designed for last-gen hardware? The days of beefy graphics cards winning the war are over. Only good games can win this battle with the next-gen, and so far the consoles are creaming us. Valve is too busy making trading cards on Steam, no chance we will see Half-Life 3 anytime soon.SKaREO

This is what I have been saying. I like gaming on PCs and i have been gaming on them regularly since ps1 generation and sporatically before then, but nobody really makes big, graphically advanced games for the Pc exclusively any more. Basically we play cleaner, faster running multiplats and low-budget indie games, RTSs and MMORPGS.

PS4 is going to change the whole landscape. It is such a leap ahead of the Xbox One that multiplats are going to be quite polished already on the PS4, and PC will really only be if you want to go really big and game on multiple monitors, or super high res monitors. But past 1080p it really begins to reach a point of diminishing returns for me. As long as  a game has a fairly solid frame rate and decent anti-aliasing I am golden.

It's an excellent cards no doubt. The Titan ever slightly outperforms it. If both cards came out at the same time i still would have got the titan mainly because of the amount of vram, it gives me more flexibility to upgrade to a higher res screen in the future.

Can't really go wrong.
