AC2 is better technically. Like others have said, the fact that you can explore absolutely anywhere in the city is huge plus. That's like in the psone/n64 gen when some people said psone was better but actually it was only in bs cutscenes and in levels with extremely constricted movement and static cameras

YekDastan316

being technically better doesnt make it have better grphics. killzone 2 is technicly better then U2 imo. kz2 engine is a beast. AC2 has simple graphics. everythign is static. it has nothing mazing but a open world game

I'll say AC2 looks just as good as UC2, it also has alot of pretty well detailed people on screen(alot), and, like you said open world. But yea I agree KZ2>AC2>UC2 technically, but I think FC2, RFG, beats kz2.

i don't like the philosophy of a game like uc2, where it's weaknesses are its strengths. I'm sure that AC2 will have more pop-in and other issues that take away from the graphical experience, which uc2 obviously will not have to deal with since the game moves between set stages. I'm very away of technical proficiency especially in open world games, and I get the same wow factor from a well fleshed out game world that I get from how strong a game look in stills. So "graphically impressive" vs "technically impressive" is a distinction that doesn't really register with me

[QUOTE="LookAnDrolL"]Cheap deph of field, to make it more cinematic... Threebabycows

I'm not referring to the depth of field, I'm referring to the blurry outline around characters/objects trying to hide jaggies, I've seen it used in a variety of console games as a cheap AA substitute.

QAA, that is only used on the PS3.

Only QAA isn't a subsitute and is actually AA.

It's about as stressful as 2xMSAA (what most 360 games use), and its about as good at removing jagges as 4x.

However it does cause a slight blur.

It's really more of a preference than it is a requirement, and MSAA has been used on the ps3 before (Resistance 2, Uncharted, Heavenly Sword)

I doubt that, or the devs would use that, also the blur isn't that great to look at so if they could, I think they would. Why would they change it, if it is the same.

Go to beyond 3d or something and go see for yourself.

A slight blur is a decent comprimise for significantly less jaggies.

The bolded makes sense, I know there are titles with MSAA on the PS3, but if 2xMSAA was really less stressful they would use it, esp. in a game like KZ2(because of the already excessive blur). The PS3 uses QAA on RE5 while the 360 uses 4xMSAA, not saying the 360 is stronger(they are equal imo), it is just obv. that MSAA must be somewhat hard for the PS3.

Bullshots kill any real discussion at all, if you people think the uncharted screens almost anywhere are actually in game then that's just sad. The consoles are not cpable of producing something that looks like GCI, if someone presents you with something that does IT'S CGI!. Also QAA is horrible, it blurs the textures.

Well, the lack of a cache like the 360's eDRAM does hinder it's capabilities to do AA.

And the AA in RE5 is actually Dynamic and can switch between 2x and 4x depending how how stressful a scene is.

But like I said, I think the use of QAA is really more of a preference since demanding games such as Uncharted use MSAA.

Ok guys its time to settle this, QAA is not Real AA it's blurr coupled with edge detection. Here are the results.

360 (no AA or 2XAA im not sure)

PS3 (QAA)

Look how badly those textures are blurred and for what? I can deal with jaggies i can't deal with games looking like i forgot my glasses.

I personally don't think Uncharted is really that demanding, I mean the first had static lighting, (this one doesn't), This UC2 has very little going on compared to GEOW2/KZ2, and way more linear than both (that deserves an award lol)

I didn't know water turned your shirt into chrome armor. Nathan Drake resembles a toy action figure! Oh noes!

BioShockOwnz

Oh, look at the fanboy undercover. The same guy who probably thinks when the boys from Gears are in the Riftworm, the blood that was spackled all over their suits looked great. You do realize just like water doesn't chrome your clothes, wet blood does not stick to metal right?

After watching gameplay videos of this game, I think I know what to expect of graphics from this game. My only problem with them is blurring and some pop-in here and there, but that's because the game is taking on a more cinematic feel, and it's impressive.;) So I CAN tell the game will have great graphics. AC2 does seem to be on an equal level, though. I do my judging on graphics from gameplay videos in high quality(because lower quality makes them look crappy, and sends the wrong message about the game's graphics). Screenshots are usually a bit touched up, so they're not very reliable. However, gameplay videos don't lie. Check them out on youtube if you don't believe me.
