Jeff gave some really good reasons why he didn't score the game AAA, but did that stop the game from being one of the best games to ever come out? Not for the vast majority of the gaming community.

Bioshock tommrow 9.5+ and 10's it looks like we might have the kickoff to an excellent fall winter gaming season. Man I will trade some games for it tommrow. EXCELLENT!!! I beat both SystemShocks, and these were excellent games, glad to see that they return in fine form!!!XYZVector

9.5 is they score only in .5's and .0's .....otherwise 9.8

When Gamespot reviews the game, I hope they don't listen to people that are demanding a particular score. Everyone should collect as much information as possible, including reading the Gamespot review, and then formulate their own opinion of whether or not to purchase the game.

Jeff is a professional. He will judge the game based on his observations, predjudices, and expectations. Just because some here in SWthink a game should get a particular score, and threaten that if it doesn't achieve there will be chaos,are just being ridiculous.

It is a game. Take the review as a critique, not an endorsement. Read other reviews. Formulate opinion. Buy, or not buy the game. Play the demo,etc.

This game deserves to score higher than Gears of War, reviews are saying it's that much better.

With the new scoring system in place, and current trends of scores for this game, it looks like Bioshock is looking to get a 10. After seeing the other reviews I don't see it getting any less than a 9.5...

Jeff can be unpredictable, butthis isn't your every day sort of game, this is one of those rare games that only come along every ten years or so and blows everything else away, it ticks all the boxes, it does everything better than nearly every other game out there, Jeff willgive it 9.5 or 10, there is no other score that can be justified, how can you argue against near perfection

Jeff isn't going to flop Bioshock, it's nothing like Twilight Princess. We've been playing Zelda games for the last 20 years. Bioshock is something completely new and different, and in so many ways, it sets a new bar for FPS shooters. As worldly as Jeff is, he would be the first to recognize that Bioshock is a SIGNIFICANT step forward in videogames. Not only does Bioshock have some of the most beautiful graphics ever seen on Xbox 360, it has some of the best graphics ever. Combine that with a deeply involved storyline, unparalleled atmosphere, moral choices, insanely cool weapons (i.e., plasmids and guns that can be upgraded however you want), you have the recipe for an absolute winner.

I vote 10/10, but we may see 9.5/10 due to this crazy new rating system. Without a doubt, though. Bioshock will be a contender for game of the year -- and we still have Virtua Fighter 5, Halo 3, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect and Call of Duty 4 on the way!

Forcing hyped games into a single thread absolutely destroys any and all intelligent discussion about those games, because the threads get flooded, and it is impossible to keep track of any of the individual posts.swamprat_basic

Haven't seen many games that warrant more than a 9.0 based on a demo alone, haha. You're basically getting 10 minutes of gameplay w/ little story and only the most basic in-game abilities. Whoo hoo!masterpinky2000

Trust me, this game is going to score at least a 9.5. It has AAAA potential, and has already received AAAA numerous times:

LOL, Sony Defense Force is a parody of Sony fanboyism -- no one could possibly take that site seriously.

I can see Jeff giving Bioshock AAA (9.5)... it's completely new and innovative, in addition to all its other positive points. Both Resistance (was that him?) and TP weren't original enough to get the AAA, quality games that they were...Funkyhamster

Bioshock definitely sets the bar for first person shooter storytelling, graphics and innovation. However, Halo 3 couldeasily be the best multiplayer game on the Xbox 360 (and perhaps for all consoles this year), and it's still awesome for being Halo.

Oh come now, lets dissect it a little shall we?

After many months of anticipation I finally got my copy of Bioshock and played through it over the past few days. There are many things to like about Bioshock such as the graphics (not animation), parts of the story and the water effects. That's about where the good stuff ends.

First let me say how excited I was for the game after playing the demo on the 360. While the animation seemed stiff (What??? Come now, does anyone think the Big Daddy moved "stiff"?) and you could tell the 360 was being pushed too hard (the demo was one of the smoothest running games I've ever played, I'm sure most of us here would agree on that)it still looked like it had a lot of potential. So imagine my disappointment when I got the final version only to find none of the animation hitches, shooting glitches and AI was cleaned up. I also wonder how much better the graphics would've been had they not been compressed to fit on a DVD. Now I do not fault the developers for this, they only had so much system power to work with (pure fanboy-fuel comment there)so maybe this will all be addressed with the PS3 version when it comes out.

To conclude, let this game cook in the oven just a little bit longer and wait for the superior PS3 version. Cleaned up textures, animations, AI, extra weapons, Home space, standard HDD and Blu-ray will make this flawed game into a perfect gem.

So basically this guy docks half of the points on his review for a few supposed jerky animations and textures. Oooooookayyyyy.

9.5 at TeamXbox. I wish my 360 didn't have to be such a b***h and crap out on me two weeks ago...

If this game doesn't get a 10 from Gamespot I don't think any game will for a very long time. It has pretty much already snagged GOTY. Right now it is averaging 99% on gamerankings, making it the highest rated game of all time. If Gamespot pulls a LoZ:TP again I thinka huge chunk of respect &credibility will be lost. it's only august and the game hasn't even been reviewed yet. the majority of the games that most are guessing will be other goty contenders are still months away.

Are you surprised by this??? Tell me the last time that GS reviewed a game prior to it being released, let alone prior to any other major site out there. I sure as heck can't. My guess is that the Bioshock review will be posted on Tuesday as a 9.5. Jeff will be too scared to score it a 10, even though it would have scored a 9.7 using the old system.
