After many months of anticipation I finally got my copy of Bioshock and played through it over the past few days. There are many things to like about Bioshock such as the graphics (not animation), parts of the story and the water effects. That's about where the good stuff ends.

First let me say how excited I was for the game after playing the demo on the 360. While the animation seemed stiff and you could tell the 360 was being pushed too hard it still looked like it had a lot of potential. So imagine my disappointment when I got the final version only to find none of the animation hitches, shooting glitches and AI was cleaned up. I also wonder how much better the graphics would've been had they not been compressed to fit on a DVD. Now I do not fault the developers for this, they only had so much system power to work with so maybe this will all be addressed with the PS3 version when it comes out.

To conclude, let this game cook in the oven just a little bit longer and wait for the superior PS3 version. Cleaned up textures, animations, AI, extra weapons, Home space, standard HDD and Blu-ray will make this flawed game into a perfect gem.

My guess is that the Bioshock review will be posted on Tuesday as a 9.5. Jeff will be too scared to score it a 10, even though it would have scored a 9.7 using the old system.

idk man i almost feel like the editors at gamespot will be saying to themselves "the last game we gave a 10 was thps3...." this game is 10 worth and this would clear that tony hawk score as the last 10 plus that game was not 10 quality, bioshock is

yeah and sadly that game sucks....its like 8 tops but man im more hyped for bioshock then almost any game ive ever been hyped for, maybe re4 but i think bioshock is topping that on my must play now instinct

Europe is praising the game just as much as the American press is. Eurogamer gave it a rare perfect score, but of course, you have nothing to say in response to that. I hate when people try to trivialize a game by only pointing out a couple of its "features", ignoring everything else, like the moody, immersive and atmospheric storyline and setting. You know, the things games always hope they can get right and almost never do. But let's ignore all that because the enemies don't die exactly how you'd like them to. 8.0 material because the ragdoll physics aren't up to par, no doubt.

Okay, fair enough. It got good reviews all around, maybe i'm just maturing out of gaming. There's not much I don't get over critical about regarding games, particularly shooters (because of the vast amounts of them that simply have nicer graphics).

This was my beef though, were any of the features you talked about in the demo which I played? Because I wasnt impressed by it as all. Even Halo 3looks more appealing to me and I didn't like the first for too long.

Just went up to Gamestop and Pre-ordered my PC Collector's Edition.....:D

For anyone who was interested...the 360 version is limited and the PC version is even more limited

EB/GS is not taking pre-orders any longer for either of these online. So those who are/were planning on picking up this bad boy Collector's Edition style should head up to their local EB/GS and see if they'll let you reserve it. The first EB I went to only got 1 PC version and 1 360 version and both were already reserved. Luckily the 2nd one still had an open slot left for the PC so I jumped in on it.

I read in the PC Gamer UK review that Bioshock's story can literally be completely spoiled with only three words. Kinda makes me nervous to be on any messageboard before I play and finish it, but hopefully nobody will go posting spoilers in this thread or SW in general. Though sadly, it wouldn't surprise me.

Haha, yes - because losing interest in gaming has everything to do with maturity.

I guess I should have lost interest in games like this when I hit 25.

If anything, given the atmosphere these days, games like BioShock are some of the FEW that appeal to me.

It has an atmosphere you could cut with a knife and a story with incredible depth (and just the amount of obscure references [not just having to do with videogames] alone in the demo that would soar over the heads of most people amazed me.) Not to mention brillaint character and leveldesign and tight, tight gameplay and control.
