Good to see that MS has decided to offically confirm that this thing is going to be one of the biggest flailures the gaming industry has ever seen.
This just hit me, the 360 fanbase ragged on the Wii so hard for being comprised of a bunch of mini kiddy games due to it's motion controls and now they're supporting a product that has yet to show any significants in bringing a unique core experience.
The Wii has titles that show it's motion controls can bring AAA titles us gamers want to play (ex Metroid 3) where as I don't see this happening with Kinect, and MS hasn't shown anything that leads me to believe they ever will.

I've seen quite a few lower level folks tout it and whatnot, but I thought the general consensus even among the 360 supporters was that Kinect was very underwhelming.
I think it's going to do alright, but haters DO make it interesting. If it fails, too bad.
I can understand disinterest, but people wishing it would fail leaves me bewildered. None of the motion control options out there is going to supplant the traditional gamepad style of games. Not every new piece of tech needs to be "hardcore".
I plan on getting both Move and Kinect at some point as there are things about both that if developed properly could be great. I love when the market gets disrupted to the point where everyone has to react. It keeps everyone on their toes and taking risks is a whole lot more interesting than the same old crap year after year.
Yeah, I remember the how the PS3 fanboys always came to Ninty's defense when ever anyone criticized the Wii.....This just hit me, the 360 fanbase ragged on the Wii so hard for being comprised of a bunch of mini kiddy games due to it's motion controls and now they're supporting a product that has yet to show any significants in bringing a unique core experience.
W1NGMAN-
This is a Kinect thread, only reason I singled out the 360 fanbase but yes PS3 fans are being just as hypocritical.[QUOTE="W1NGMAN-"]Yeah, I remember the how the PS3 fanboys always came to Ninty's defense when ever anyone criticized the Wii.....

Many, click on the different Kinect topics bashing it and you'll have plenty of people defending it.
Kinect: Boring for me, Absolute Mind Asplosion for everyone else in my family, who now see my xbox in a better light.
If they show more "core" games for the device, that show off it's potential (improved Milo + Kate is a start), and some of the Hybrid games (Kinect functionality + Controller), then I may like it.
But now? Not impressed. Yet.
kinect is gonna own the casual motion control market (not that there is a hardcore motion control market) with stupid dance and fitness games.
I think it will be very successful if priced right. As of now I have no interest in it, but I'm not the target audience.
PC World- ''Microsoft's body-mapping Kinect camera revealed an experience premised on somewhat laggy, clearly casual-angled motion-tracking, playing with Sony's Move wands and smaller propulsion-oriented sub-controller was like upgrading to high fidelity. '' :)As of right now, Kinect is a massive joke.

Motion Control Wars!
and you thought nothing was worst then SW :P
I keep hearing it's going to be $150, waiting for an official announcement.
It's strange, last year Natal had so much momentum, nad Move wasn't even named, it was a joke.
Now, Move is considered better than Kinect. Neither will do as well as Wii, but it's interesting the change of fortune.
A lot of people going to be eaten there words..these time next year...quote me on this.Jamani
you could say what you expect to happen... I could eat my words right now if you like *chomp chomp*
We'll see. People thought the same of the PS3 after it launched at $600. The biggest hardware failures (at least in the U.S.) were the 32X and the Virtual Boy. I doubt the Kinect will have that kind of failure. There are too many people and developers interested in it. Millions of gamers also thought the Wii would fail miserable. We saw how that turned out.Good to see that MS has decided to offically confirm that this thing is going to be one of the biggest flailures the gaming industry has ever seen.

If Kinect is priced at $150 then it's not going to do as well as Microsoft hopes. Many people will not see the justification for spending that much on what is essentialy a hightech webcam. Drop the price down to $70 and it will start doing well in some respects, but I dont believe it will be mainstream where most games end up supporting it. Kinect will most likely be a niche market that may only account for 10%-15% of all Xbox 360 owners. The reason the PS3 and Wii didn't fail was because they were full blown consoles, not an expensive attachment.Good to see that MS has decided to offically confirm that this thing is going to be one of the biggest flailures the gaming industry has ever seen.

Opinions may vary but in my personal gaming experience, reality of things and educated opinion, the Kinect is one of the most recent majestic technologically electronic equipment to ever grace gaming machineries. Even before any announcement of price, people the potential of fun the Kinect have to offer and pre-ordered the thing. That is amazing, how people trust in the Kinect to deliver the future of fun and pre-ordered it on the spot without knowing the exact price. The excitement for this great equipment continues to increase as more people takes a glimpse of its beauty. Another wonderful strategy Microsoft has come up with so genuinely, is to first launch the Kinect with the most family friendly sociable gaming software at release. This is genius in the making. It is like giving a baby, baby food instead of hardcore steak. And this baby food is not just any regular baby food, it is filled with delicious Microsoft nutrients of gaming bliss which will nurture the child and mold that child into a devoted casual and hardcore gaming gamer experiencing endless joy of gaming fun experiences as time progresses. Microsoft and the Kinect is purely perfect and ripe enough for consumers to digest. It is not like other motionary controls where it is trying to do to much too fast. You will need this to do that, you will need that to do this, you need to plug this on, you need an extra one, you need to plug that so it can calibrate accurately every time, my heavens this so overwhelming. While all you will ever need to experience the future of fun is plugging in one Kinect and you are set. Set it and forget it, it is that simple. And it is made even more simpler by purchasing the Kinect ready new Xbox 360 Superior. Kinect is the best where you are not just the controller but you have the power and control and that is amazing in every single way, in my personal educated reality of opinions. Jump in and Kinect.reanimatedchamp
I didn't read any of your post, but the last line was clever and catchy.
i will never understand all the hate for kinect. kinect looks awesome. why does everyone think the tech will get worse? micrsoft will improve the tech and it will just get better. Kinect is also coming to the PC so who knows what software will come for the PC. im sure if this was apples idea everyone would love it
Molyneux's pedo-simu... virtual friend is still in development apparently. Is the pedophile simulator shown at E3 09 actually coming out?
i got the impression it was just a tech demo.

I do not think it is funny to refer to a game as a "pedophile simulator" as pedophila is not funny.

Both systems were sold out for the first 6 months, but the Wii was sold out for over a year. The PS3 didn't have that kind of start. By Jan there were still plenty of PS3 is store and retailers couldn't sell them faster then the shipments were coming in.Good to see that MS has decided to offically confirm that this thing is going to be one of the biggest flailures the gaming industry has ever seen.
