It's simple. Move is a known quantity. It functions similar to the Wii, with added camera functions.

There are no questions about whether you can use it sitting down.

There are no questions about the number of players that can play simultaneously.

It's been available to journalists at GDC in March and at E3, and to the public at large at the World Hobby Fair in Japan.

The price is announced.

There's a reasonable size list of software, both core and casual, that will be available at launch.

Wow, MS really knows how to push Kinect with the help of these high profile celebrities. They were all impressed with Kinect after playing the demos. Even Steven Seagal was there too and he was impressed by the tech also. With these kind of celebrity exposures, Kinect will sell like hot cakes comes these holidays:

Altho I think Kinect is all around hot garbage with no appeal to core gamers, With the right price and marketing M$ maybe able to sell a million of these things come holiday season.

I'd say it's not as lame as going to a thread where you bash an acessory you do not plan to own of a console you do not plan to own simply because it is not of the same brand as the one you own

I'd love to your what your GT is too. I don't buy that someone who doesn't own a 360 likes to praise it so much while bashing a console they supposedly own. I find it quite curious too that everyone that asks me for my GT has such a hard time meeting me half way.Mestitia

Other than that my opinion on every system (PS3, PC, 360, Wii) has been very positive.

If I could I would own them all. This is a great gen.

im gonna hijack this thread, but do one for PSN+, there are like 10 threads about it on FP.

Hmm, I'm not too sure what to think of Kinect. I think at the end of the day it annoys me just a little bit less than the Move. Yes it's a pretty tacky peripheral that's clearly only going to appeal to the young and casual crowd but as far as I can tell it's not trying to be anything else. I haven't heard any news of the next Gears of War game being especially adapted so that it can played by the Kinect. Move on the other hand is a tacky peripheral that seems to be trying to sell itself as something that you can use for both gimmicky party games and regular games as well. Killzone 3 supports it if I'm not mistaken and other games surely will. If these upcoming PS3 games are going to try and pander to the people who own the Move then I fear that their quality might be compromised. So in short the Kinect is a benign lump for Xbox gamers (sort of like the eye toy or the power glove) whereas the Move is potentially malignant (think what sixaxis did to LAIR as an example).domatron23

Except Move is optional for games like Killzone 3 because they are not being designed around Move like Lair was with Six Axis. They are simply compatible with it and you can play with the DS3, if you like. Hard to see how this will compromise the games when it is merely an option.

Let's not forget that these sites like to set up arbitrary release dates, and phantom games that doesn't exist. Quite reliable indeed.

VGcats today got a pretty decent jab at Kinect (a little PG-13 so click at your discretion)

Frankly, they nailed it. Microsoft is looking more and more out of touch. Sony went into this thing knowing they were copying Nintendo, they made some jabs and positioned themselves as sort of "Wii + PS3 Graphics + more Hardcore Oriented". Dumb but aware? Microsoft is going into this thing looking dumb AND unaware. Peter Molyneux running his mouth definitely won't help, as casuals have no idea who he is, and hardcore gamers are getting fed up with his nonsense.

In any case... well done VG, as usual.

In this particular context, sales matter because whoever is trying to argue whether or not it will catch on so if it sells real well it obviously means it caught on with someone. I don't know why we're arguing about it, though.

Sales matter because it attracts talented developers and funding.
