@Heil68: It is but will be obsolete in a little over a year lol....seriously it's not powerful enough to run games at native 4k and can't play UHD movies...not impressed.

Uhd streaming is a joke and nearly impossible for a large segment of the population .
Sad cows are sad
@superflyzero: right except all the great AAA games coming starting this month...
... on PS4.
@superflyzero: i guess I'm ignorant but I don't even have clue what Sony has this fall.
All I'm thinking about is how I'm gonna afford recore, forza, and gears.
Remember how underpowered the PS2 was to the Xbox, and how MS dominated the market that gen?
Remember how underpowered the Xbox One is and how that has no bearing on the console war? :P
I just preordered the PS4 Pro! It feels good knowing I won't have to play games on the PS4 Newb for much longer.
So I take it from all the details released by Sony, is that unless you own a 4K T.V., then the PS4 Pro isn't worth getting.
Correct?
True, but even your old PS4 can upscale to HDR 4K with a good TV, so its even more pointless. Its a cash grab graphical gimmick at its finest.

That was a totally different time in gaming.. a time when 3rd party developers routinely made their games exclusive to one device or the another and their console of choice (due to the massive install base and fan loyalty the PlayStation brand had already gained) was the PS2..
Currently, 3rd party devs typically can't afford to make their biggest IPs exclusive to one device over another and most of the best games on the market are multiplatform.. and when multiplatform games run best on one console over another, that seems to be where the gamers go.. It was true for the majority of last gen with the Xbox 360 and it has been true the majority of this gen with the PS4.. it remains to be seen if Project Scorpio will be the next to follow this trend..
It has also been true that movie formats and multimedia have helped drive the sales success of consoles in the past.. DVDs did so with the PS2 and Bluray did so with the PS3 (after Bluray eventually won the format wars).. ironically, we'll have to see if UHD Bluray will have a similar effect on Xbox One S sales moving forward..
In any case, comparing the climate of the market back when an underpowered PS2 dominated the original and more powerful Xbox to the current climate in the gaming market is the very definition of comparing apples to oranges..

Improved textures, supersampling, better lighting, PSVR improvements...
"Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration on the PlayStation 4 Pro will include three modes: 4K Resolution, High Framerate, and Enriched Visuals, allowing you to customize your experience. 4K Resolution displays the game in 4K Resolution, on supported 4K TVs, in 30 fps. High Framerate pushes the framerate above 30 fps at 1080p with a target of 60 fps for an even smoother gameplay experience. Enriched Visuals enhances graphical features of the game for a lusher and more realistic experience, in 1080p at 30 fps.”
@GoldenElementXL: Your showing regular PS4 without it being upscaled to 4K HDR. Nice try though.
What?
Have no desire to get a PS4pro, I don't use my PS4 enough to double dip on this machine.
Would I prefer to play my games at 60 faps? Damn right, but I'm not ponying up for a second console for a machine that has about as many hardware skus as it does worthwhile exclusives. Ditto the Xbutt and its scorpio nonsense. Shit's been a Halo 5 machine for me and nothing else.

Do you have a Windows 10 PC? Have you played Halo 5 Forge? It's increbible... I almost threw my Xbox One in the trash after I played it for the first time last night.
@GoldenElementXL: What can you do in Forge on PC....I thought it was just map making or something? Pardon the ignorance.

What?
The comparison picture you showed is a regular PS4 vs a PS4 Pro on upscaled HDR 4K TV. We want to see original PS4 on upscaled HDR 4K TV vs PS4 Pro on upscaled HDR 4K.

Where's the option for richer visuals and 60fps/1080p? This is the only reason i planed on getting the system. 60fps without a graphical improvement is pathetic. Hell, they aren't even saying it'll be capped at 60fps but simply "target", which is a way of saying an unstable POS, exactly what we currently have in 30 and 60fps games. Disappointing.

You can make maps, but also play existing maps and created maps in custom game types with friends. It's pretty much Halo 5 multiplayer without the matchmaking. So right now you have to add folks to your friends list and invite them to matches. But playing Halo 5 at 60 fps, 1440p is incredible.
Beyond stunning, the power of PS4. Looks true next gen,

Not at all. Some games like Final Fantasy 15 run at a dynamic 900p, so it needs the extra juice just for 1080p and to clean up other graphical shortcomings. A lot of games will have better textures even when you're not in 4k.
Games will be made with 1080p in mind as well, i'm sure plenty of games will have some sort of super sampling AA.

Making a 30 fps jump is huge though. We needed the PS4 to get TLOU up to 60 over the PS3 versions 30.
I wouldn't be shocked if the "4K Resolution" setting turns graphical settings down which is kinda silly. But PC gamers will tell you, the GPU in the PS4 Pro is not on the 4K level. An AMD RX 470 wouldn't be used to run games in 4K, I'm not sure how the PS4 Pro is expected to...

Yeah I have a Windows 10 pc, I don't ever build stuff in Forge so I don't try it. I'm happy forge cats got it though, but it would have been cooler if it was full on Halo 5 on PC.

you can do custom games
@Heil68: and the scorpio will be more powerful then ps4 slim and pro ;)
How wait I know your awnser already
"I buy them both"
;)
Well we can thank SONY for driving this gen and forcing MS to change their evil DRM ways and reacting to PS4.
you mean the same plan Sony was going to follow but they let MS go first to test the waters and after the fallout they quickly change their plans.

30fps jump is nowhere near enough of a jump for $400USD and 3 years later. I really do not care the performance in VR or in 4k. What matters to me is the performance gain in 1080p and from what i've been reading its pathetic to say the least. For 400UD i expected 60fps in most games (only excluding the most demanding ones) and Very High/Ultra visuals on everything. I mean, they had three damn years, in three years i expect a noticeable jump, not this laughable "choose and uncapped 60fps and play with the same outdated visuals or have a couple of settings put to Ultra and enjoy your unstable 30fps". Not much of a difference from what we have now.
More concerned about the CPU to be honest.
Is it just an increase of clock rate to the current PS4 CPU?
@carlquincy: From my understanding, theyre the same. Its also crazy PS4 Pro is double the power consumption, what a joke.
Am I the only one who noticed that 310 watt TDP? and the only console is only 55mm in height?
I see some thermal issues OR another console that turns into a jet engine when gaming.
Any word on whether the ps4 pro cpu is still a bottleneck?
Yes, it is still a bottleneck and the new console's weak point. They upclocked the CPU by 500mhz, which should stabilize frame rates in more CPU bound situations but don't expect any drastic increase. Games that use to drop from 30 to 25fps in certain areas should be able to stick 30 with the new console.

O i noticed it, its a fackin joke.
@Heil68: was that some of your unbiasedness? Lol
just the FACTS. :D
EA confirmed that there won't be a Framerate difference between Slim and Pro for Mass Effect Andromeda, both still 30 fps. OWNED! PS4 WILL FADE AWAY AND WILL CONSIDER OBSOLETE! OBSOLETE!
Still buying...lol
Take it away Brother Nero
Mass Effect Andromeda was running at a custom res confirmed. (Go to Neogaf for the source, I'm in bed on my phone). Anyone expecting this hardware at a $399 price point to run 4K is delusional. That being said, PS4 Pro day 1 for me. A better Uncharted, Horizon and other exclusives is worth the price. Scorpio is the harder sell since my current PC stomps it. A year from now I should be playing Windows 10 games at 4K and 60+fps. The Scorpio won't be able to do that. And both will be running Uncharted, Horizon, TLG and PSVR games at 0p and 0fps, so...
@FireEmblem_Man: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA wtf Sony?! What's the point of this "pro" if the game will still be 30fps? They got bitch slapped by the Scorpio announcement pulled this from e3 and couldn't alter in any way.
Meanwhile I'm watching 4k Netflix anytime I want right now.
I guess upscaling is teh cool now, huh? Well my X1S is upscaling deaus ex as we speak.
Thank you MS, and god bless the United States
