GeOW sold 4.5 million. It is safe to assume that alot of GeOW players also like games like Halo 3.

Halo 2 sold 8 million copies.

So let's say 3 million of those GeOW players are going to buy Halo 3. That takes a big chunk out of future systems pushed. Will Halo 3 still push alot of consoles? Hell yes, there is still at least 5 million potential buyers out there. But the fact that other games that appealed to the same market were already on the 360 to begin with, does lessen the Halo 3 effect.

When the console race is already in the tens of millions, adding 300-400,000 systems doesn't make a hell of a lot of difference. Let's see how the January NPDs look for the 360. If it's still selling over 300k/month after the holidays and after Halo 3, then Halo 3 can officially be named a system seller. A one-month spurt means nothing.

As for Eternal Sonata not selling well, You launch a niche game a week before Halo 3 = bad sales. Than again Eternal Sonata didn't sell well in Japan either.

wow big month in the gaming market. i thought the 360 might outs the wii this month due to halo but i can not believe the wii still sold so many. way to go ninty. they have really tapped into a huge potential market the other systems need to look into. especially the ps3 it needs all the market share it can get currenlty.

i expect halo 3 sales to really drop next month because pretty much everyone that owns a 360... has it now. it will be like a lot of big japanese releases. huge first weeks then blah nothing. kind of cool we westerners finally havea game franchise that can do that. even if i cant stand the franchise it is.

For America, the 360 software wise is showing its legs month after mont, and Wii is keeping a few titles near the top also. However, when PS2 games are topping PS3 games, Sony has a huge software issue. And it isn't just the low number of consoles sold...

I am curious how total Blu Ray sales vs PS3 game sales look. Maybe she is being purchased by a good many as just a BR player?

Oh and looking at this, Halo 3 has a ~50% attach rate so far (3.3 million vs ~6.7 million US consoles). That is INSANE for any title being out 11 days. 1 out of every 2 360 owners bought that game basically in the first week.
