The 360 has been outselling the Wii for a few weeks WW (last week in September and first week in October I believe). Sales for the 360 WW in those weeks tripled. The PS3 is dead last as usual.

Let's see, last month two games from two huge franchises for the respective systems were released (Halo and Metroid.) In NA, Halo 3 sold 3.3 mil copies and i'm guessing it had a huge influence on the number of systems sold (527K.) I can also assume Metroid had heavy influence on those 500+K systems sold for nintendo; great sales for both. Nothing major was released for the PS3, and the recent price drop wasn't in effect, so of course it's numbers are low.

I'm amazed by how many posters seem so surprised by this.

I believe the PS3 actually sold less in September than it did in August. October will probably look more of the same for the PS3, but every ones numbers will go up in November and December so it will be hard to gauge.
