Mass Effect versus Gran Turismo 5

Splinter Cell Conviction versus Tekken 6

Lost Odyssey versus White Knight Story

New Viva Pinita versus God of War 3

Too Human versus Ratchet and Clank

Those are paired up in no particular order, but I hope you see the point.

Sure anyone could tell me what games are better, but I think when it comes to "bigger", we should all be on the same page here.

PS3 will be a $400 console starting Nov 2nd. It is a Blu-Ray player, and is getting some of the biggest franchises in the video game industry exclsuively. Those are all facts, and if you can't tell me with a straight face that such a deal won't look attractive to many gamers, than you are not looking outside the box, and in your case -- the Xbox.

Splinter Cell Conviction Vs. Metal Gear Solid = MGS has the potential to push system's but the SC series has always been in the millions. And it'll most likely come out first..

Lost Odyssey Vs. FF 13 = FF will be the better seller from this comparison, but don't count out LO.

PGR4 Vs. GT5 = I only compared the two because it makes more sense.. GT5 will kill PGR in sales but don't count out PGR4 being a pack in late next year.

DOA 5 Vs Tekken 6 = Tekken 6 has this on but DOA has always sold well.. Although I remain doubtful that we'll see a DOA next year.. Especially with Soul Calibur 4 coming out.

Ninja Gaiden 2 Vs. God of War 3 = probably the toughest comparison.. either title could take the crown. or DMC4 could outsell both of em..

Banjo Threeie Vs. Ratchet & Clank = Another tough one.. (Banjo was VERY popular on the 64 and this will be the only title since the N64 days. It may actually boost sales abit if it turns out well.) But I think R&C has this one.

To sum it up you make a good point about the games on the PS3 being more popular. However you must remember that the 360 has close to 20 million sellers right now.. And any game could be the "next big thing" on the 360. But I still think this is a moot point because the PS3 is still too damned expensive..

I didn't realize the Wii's holiday supplies were so constrained last year. I thought they at least hit 800,000 in December.

The 360 will experience a slight dip in October, and then the numbers will skyrocket back to the top in November and December.

Do you realize that the 360 sold over 1 million units last December? With a lower price and a much better lineup, it will go even higher this year

Every November and December for the rest of its life will show stronger hardware figures than this month. Halo 3 is big, huge even, but nothing drives sales like the holidays.

Obviously sales will drop off, but I think January and February numbers will still be pretty good. The 360 is about to have its most dominant holiday ever, and I think some of that momentum will carry into 2008.

As long as Microsoft can start stuffing the channels again and Nintendo can figure out how to build a factory.

Halo 3 moved systems, but didn't cut into the Wii's market. It will be interesting to see how the market reacts when Galaxy, WiiFit, Brawl, Mass Effect, and GTA IV are out. I think those are the most important games in deciding which system stays ahead for good.

Very disappointing for PS3. Sony is damn lucky that PSP and PS2 remain strong.

Game Boy Advance is still hanging in there, and the DS is racking up its usual half-million. Nintendo combined to sell over a million systems last month in the US alone, and I'm sure that even the Gamecube managed 10 thousand or so. They've got a stranglehold on the market.

The thing is that the Wii and 360 are not competing against each other. Two very different kinds of gamers that are buying the 360 and Wii so the competition between the two is irrelevant.

Please there was a whole thread debating it. Even some on that thread who didn't think MP3 would oustell Halo 3 said SSBM and Mario 3 would.

I didn't expect the 360 to outsell the Wii this month, but I guess I was wrong. Those 2 final weeks made a big push that made all the difference.

I'm definitely looking forward to the holidays though. The only thing really stopping the Wii right now is supply constraints. MS should have a good holiday. I'm curious at how the PS3 will do with the new SKU. Definitely worth noting now.

In speaking of Nintendo's console, I'm pretty impressed with 501k. I noticed how people said that Wii was beginning to lose steam. Well, this is sort of an argument against that.
