Another step Blizzard takes towards global domination! Just crazy, just crazy.
Anyways, when it comes to what's shown so far, Blizzard has always traditionally built games in where they were not graphically intensive. Rich detailed textures, as well as a strong sense of art style and direction has always taken precident over how many polygons they can fit on screen. This is a smart move on all sides because they can create a pretty game which is accessable to anyone with even an old computer. A lot of people have PCs and the more people who can buy the game and play it straight away, without buying upgrades or even a whole new computer is all the better for them. Odds are you won't need a powerful PC that can play Supreme Commander to play Starcraft 2. Starcraft is still a rather pretty game, even if extreamly updated. A facelift was needed, and so that's what it got. A lot of people still would buy Starcraft 2 if the only thing that was changed was graphics.
In terms of a storyline, Blizzard games also do a better job than most in getting people involved in it. It's not only about the graphics or even gameplay, it's about telling an engaging story. When it comes to StarCraft a story has been woven in where a lot of people want to know the aftermath, to know what happens to everyone. This is also true of WarCraft and Diablo. Blizzard is rather notorious for creating open ended... well endings, in where more can happen.
Finally, the gameplay. For many people StarCraft is pretty close to perfect as it can get. It's hard to improve on perfection, and for me it doesn't matter if it's more of the same. It's been more of the same since the orginal WarCraft. All modern day RTS games play in pretty much the same manner, and anyone who has attempted to break the mold have not done it and replicated the level of success Blizzard has had with its RTS games.
In the end people will get StarCraft 2. Though I think people will get it because it's another great Blizzard game, not because it's just a Blizzard game, or because it's a StarCraft game. They have created a market in where they are king, and unlike many others around them, blind arrogence has yet to rear its ugly head and turn something great, into something mediocre. Blizzard has never sold a game on its brand name alone, afterall, it is the company that axes games in any stage of development if they think it's not a great game.
Invariably, some people say it doesnt look very good graphically. Its those same people who will then say you'll need $2,000 worth of upgrades to play Crysis because they cant put down the graphics.
If it advanced technical graphics, its the upgrades argument. If its just highly artistic, its the poor graphics argument.
lame, I had a good thread going...oh well...the game is fugly.TheSystemLord1
We needed this. :)That's why they're the pantheons of strategy game developers. Alot of people are brea\thing a sigh of relief they wont need a new PC to play this game Gameplay is always more imporant than graphics.
And Starcraft II looks fine, if you ask me. Blizzard has always put gameplay before graphics, and they never take the lower-end PC out of the equation when developing games.

Stupidest thing I've heard all day. Did you not see the gameplay? There's several new units and structures etc. added to the game. Honestly, how can anyone hate on a BLIZZARD game?

Does anyone know if any of the guys that made the first SC are contributing to SC2?DA_B0MB
Morhaime, Metzen, and Pardo at least.
Bill Roper isn't around anymore though. :(Â
Never played Starcraft and I am not a fan of World of Warcraft but might try the new Starcraft if I get a new computer. Could someone give me a link or a lightly detailed essay describing and explaining the features of the game.

Just get the original starcraft....Its like $5 and tons of people play it online.Â
I am going to have to get back into PC gaming, if only for this reason...
Starcraft = God RTS of all time. Today was a good day after hearing that news.Â
I'm not even a hermit and I will upgrade my PC to run SC2. Even though I have no idea how. :PDA_B0MB
Same.Â

Unscrew the two screws for your PC's side panel. Use an anti static wirst wrap. Unscrew the single screw keeping your graphics card in place. Pop out. Easy as that. People only make it sound insanely hard. Its as easy as putting a hotdog in a bun and putting it in the microwave.I hope they're going to add more terran and Zerg units, because right now it looks like only the Protoss are getting an overhaulaxt113

Heh, that's why I'm just gonna buy a new one if need be.
But fear not good sirs, chances are what you are typing this on (unless it's the Wii or PS3) will be able to play the game anyways. Blizzard is notorious in making their games accessible to the masses in terms of requirements.Â

Quite, odds are if your computer can run WarCraft 3, you'll be able to run StarCraft 2 when it's released.
