Haha yes. I am the lone wolf in here arguing with 5 of you raving Too Human fans,excelR83
Woah, just a minute ago you were telling us about all the people who agreed with you, now you're a lone wolf? Raving Too Human fans? Dreams-Visions spent the past several months saying how Too Human would fail, VandalVideo has yet to say whether he likes the game or not. Jandurin just told you he hasn't even said if it will be a good game or not. SpruceCaboose just said he doesn't care about Too Human.
...no, you're not some "lone hero" fighting for a cause. You have not *played the game* and we're asking you to do so. It would take one hour of your time to boot up your 360 and play an *absolutely free demo*. It would cost you nothing to actually try the game. We're not asking you to go out and spend $60 on a game - we're saying "try the demo".
[QUOTE="excelR83"]Based on what I've seen this game looks horrible. Take it for what it is. I don't care if you tell me I have credibility or not, the amount of responses I'm getting proves otherwise. If I was an outright troll with nothing valid to say you could easily ignore me. Since I am voicing concerns that a lot of people share, it's not as easy. Go ahead and love the game, nobody is stopping you. To say that anyone who plays the game and doesn't enjoy it is "not a true gamer" or some other such absurdity (and Q: why don't you guys take him to task for that statement? A: Because he's on your side this time) is insulting. It's that narrow-minded fanboy view that makes this forum a vile cesspit. If someone were to say "if you don't like MGS you are not a gamer" he would be the object of ridicule. We are allowed to not like games, and I am allowed to think the previews SK released to demonstrate their game were horrible. It was their choice to release those videos full of horrible animation to us, for us to judge and form opinions onVandalvideoBased on what you've SEEN? There is a demo readily available and you're basing your opinion off what you've seen? A real gamer would put aside his obvious prejudice and actually try the game that is so readily available. Besides, I haven't even stated my opinoin about the game yet. Don't you think its a bit premature to say that I love this game or that I'm a narrow-minded fanboy?
Yes, more sanctimonious crap about what a "real gamer" is. Please preach to me about what a real gamer is because it's clearly a defined part of our culture and not some obtuse notion that you and other forum-dwellers have concocted to give a shared identity to our nerdiness.
As I said, I took in all of the media available to me and formed my opinion on it. When I play the demo I may have a different opinion. This, however, is NOT the Too Human demo thread, where I have to have played it to have an opinion on the actual game. I formed my opinion on it based on videos, trailers, interviews, hands-on-previews, and based on that, I think the game LOOKS like ass. Yes, LOOKS, that IS what I said, instead of highlighting LOOKS to illustrate that I can't form an opinion, realize that I am talking about how it LOOKS aka SEEMS to me, and base your insults of my point of view on that. You have it backwards.
What did you expect from this thread anyway? Unabashed love? Is that what you wanted? Call it the Official Too Human Love-In then, and stipulate that you will ban/delete posts from users who don't love the game. Why is it such a shocker to have someone posting in this thread that doesn't share your optimistic visions of the game. Settle down. If the game is that good, I am sure it will shut me up.
Honestly I wanted to post in this thread days ago, before the TH demo was up, but I wasn't able to since the last time I had a discussion (coincidentally all of the same people were involved in that one) I was banned. The TOU seems pretty malleable when enough people report you. Pity I just can't let this contrary opinion die. If only I were a sheep... wait.

Its still an extremely jovial opinion. Once again, your post keeps trying to point out that I love this game or something. Once again, I'm merely pointing out the flaws in your method of establishing an opinion. Its not so much for you to fire up your 360, spend ten minutes downloading the demo, and playing it.
[QUOTE="excelR83"]since the last time I had a discussion (coincidentally all of the same people were involved in that one) I was banned. subrosian

Yes, subrosian, outside of your friendly little lovenest here, built on months of high fiving eachother over inane comments and observations, there are a LOT of people who agree with me. Right here, however, it looks like I am alone in my opinion. How is this difficult to piece together?
I don't know if you took a hit on the head over the past couple months, or I was just fooled by your well-crafted and well-written posts, but I didn't think this concept would be a stretch for you.
I have mentioned several times that I don't have to have played the demo to form my opinion on the previews/videos etc etc etc. This is not the PLAY THE DEMO THREAD. In fact if Denis is to be believed, your demo version will be radically different from the final build anyway and not in any way a barometer of the game anyway.
If my opinion isn't valid until I play the demo, fine, ignore me. I am putting these words in this thread for posterity because I think TH will flop.
I am not "fighting for a cause" but I am not willing to say "oh **** there's five of you I give up" when you consistently ram your opinions and advice down my throat.

Which would explain why, during the GameSpot live interview yesterday, Denis Dyack said that the demo, while not able to capture the depth of the high-level end-game play, gave players a good feel for the game?
Well, this thread has had one positive outcome. I've decided not to wait for the bulb to be replaced on my big tv. I'm gonna get the demo and play it on my small tv. :xJandurin
Don't forget to change the date ;)
excelR83, I think alot of this has alot less what your saying, and alot more how your saying it.
It's one thing to determine you probably won't like this game based on previews and interviews, especially if you don't have a 360 to try the demo. Many inthis thread have posted similar thoughts already
It's quite another to come into the thread insulting the Game, it's creators, and it's fans, without experiancing all forms of available media, particularly for a game like Too Human, which I personally realized required time spent playing it in order to appreciate what it sets out to accomplish.

Thanks. I've read about that. Do want to try more than one class. How am I a Too Human fan, or in love with Dennis D? I have actually never played a Silicon Knights game before, and I very highly doubt I will ever own Too Human.
I am just saying, without playing a game yourself, I am unsure how you can judge it and say it is crap.

That's exactly what I was going to say. It's one thing to say "I've checked out the videos and I don't think Too Human looks that hot", but to say:excelR83, I think alot of this has alot less what your saying, and alot more how your saying it.

"You are in denial. The game is trash, it is going to bomb, it has key features being taken away from it months before development (4p co-op), Dyack chooses to wage a jihad against forum-goers rather than let his game speak for itself, all of the previews note how much it is stuck in the past with contrivances like invisible walls, jerky animation, dumb AI a bad camera and generally underwhelming control scheme. I don't have to defend my position, I am in the majority of netizens who think this game is a walking time-bomb and wish Dyack would finally shut his hole."
When a) you haven't played the game and b) even people who were tearingToo Human a new ******* just a couple of weeks ago like DV are saying the game is at the very least enjoyable once you get a handle for the controls and depth, is flat-out rediculous.

Yeah I'm ban-dodging with an account from 2003.
Think dude.
Again, you sidestep any valid points, issues and concerns I have to make some high and mighty, thinly disguised attack on my character. I expected more from you, at least. You and Dreams are the only two people involved in this discussion who have proven to be worth talking to in the past. You regularly make good points and great posts but what is this? I don't like TH, is that going to be an issue?
Dreams: Because it's you, I will suspend any further speculation on TH until I play the demo this evening. This is obviously going nowhere. I promise I will play it with an open-mind, and I can guarantee you I won't think its terrible because I have a high, high tolerance for these types of games. I will probably, like most of you, think it's "solid", but unspectacular, and as I said with this much dev time, hype, money, and Dyack's lunacy thrown into the mix, "solid" isn't what anyone was promised.
I know it's fun when you all get the pitchforks and torches out for some good ole fashioned mob violence, so I hate to cut it short, but I have been meaning to take off for hours.
I will post my impressions when I finish playing the game, and if I end up thinking it's actually great, not just solid, feel free to laugh in my face. I will man up to any ownage incurred, I just hope anyone on the other side can do the same if and when the time comes.
By the way, I really don't take this **** that seriously, and I hope none of you do. Writing is fun to me, arguing points that are borderline lunacy just to see if I can get people to open up a bit, trying to disparage an opponent without resorting to name-calling... fun to me, and I know it is for most of you.
In the end we are all game geeks and I would protect any one of you from the neighborhood bully :D
Take care.
[QUOTE="subrosian"][QUOTE="excelR83"]How many of those paragraphs are about my experience with the game? I thought you could read. Whatever, I will let the reviews speak for me. Too bad Denis couldn't afford us the same courtesy with his game.
excelR83
But a review is simply a reviewer's opinion of a game, and as you said earlier:
It is an opinion, thus it can never be "correct", nor did I say it was
excelR83
So, rather than playing the game yourself, and actually giving it a chance, you let other people tell you what to think, based on opinions you believe can never be correct? Interesting.
When did you become so obtuse?
I can't believe you, of all people, would try and revert this to an "opinion" argument. Of course it is my opinion, as it is their opinion, as it is your opinion, blabbity blabbity blah. Never, at any point did I say "FACT: TOO HUMAN WILL SUCK", I just reported my thoughts on the game and you took it to this extreme, which leads me to believe you don't have as much faith in this game as you would like.
[QUOTE="excelR83"][QUOTE="Jandurin"][QUOTE="excelR83"]Lame justification is LAME. Playing games is different than watching movies. If you haven't felt it, you aren't qualified to judge. Attempt to judge in such a situation makes you [insert whatever you may fancy I may have said ;)].I didn't need to see Beautician and the Beast to know it sucked.
Vandalvideo
Right, I bet the horrible animation, bad voice acting, bland, architecturally devoid environments, repetitive enemies and 10 hour length would all be put into perspective if only I could hold a controller in my hand while experiencing it.
My position might change when I play it, but as of now this is what I have to go on and the game looks atrocious. If I play i, come back and tell you I still think it sucks I will be accused of not playing with an open mind, not liking the genre (even though I LIVED on BNet all of 1996-1997) or not being a "core gamer" I really can't win, at least on Gamespot where the naysayers are silenced by banhammers and huge fanboy dogpiles that prohibit anyone from having a contrary opinion. Take the blinders off, there are a lot of people like me who think this game sucks, and as I said, if you won't take my word for it, how about the professional game journalists who have played a lot more of it than the demo.
You let your own opinoins be dictated by other people when you haven't even given the appropriate time to figure out if what they're saying is even 100% accurate? Talk about sophistry. You should atleast take the time to try it out for yourself. You should take your blinders off and try it for yourself first. In this case, I truly believe I have seen enough. It's not like they released horrific, nausea inducing trailers for Gears of War, Half Life 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, Super Mario Galaxy and then the games came out and were terrific.
Based on what I've seen this game looks horrible. Take it for what it is. I don't care if you tell me I have credibility or not, the amount of responses I'm getting proves otherwise. If I was an outright troll with nothing valid to say you could easily ignore me. Should I rephrase it to say "based on trailers, previews, reading of hands-on-previews, interviews and literature, I think Too Human will suck"? If I "play the demo" as so many of you suggest, and still dislike it, I will hear that either I am not a true gamer, I am a troll, I hate the genre (my personal favorite, as if TH is so good you'd have to dislike the genre not to like it  ), or "wait until the final game" as if drastic changes will be undertaken in the next two months to make this one a polished, epic, legendary instant classic.
As I said, I can't win. I don't have the numbers, and this is clearly a fanboy dogpile of Denis Dyack love.
I could go to my local wal-mart right now, and act like a complete idiot infont of a lot of people. Chances are, I will have the attention of everyone that had witnessed me. But that's just it: Attention, not respect. I'm just saying...
All in all, it looks like you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder, ExcelR83. What's your problem? It doesn't really seem like any actual experience with the game has led to your seemingly "extreme" dislike of the game. Rather, it seems like there are personal reasons fueling your attitude towards the game, along with the creators of it.
Personally, I never paid too much attention to the game prior to the demo. Even as I began to play it, I didn't really find myself enjoying it too much. However, after finishing it, I can say it exceeded my expectations. Nothing absolutely amazing, in my opinion, but significantly better than I had guessed.
There have been a few other posters in this thread that have expressed their dislike for the game. Most of them did not receive any negative attention for expressing their opinion. There is a reason why you are being singled out of the crowd, and receiving negative posts based on the opinions you've expressed towards the game. It's not simply because you dislike a game that others happen to like. It's not because you dislike a game that happens to be available only for a console that people enjoy and own. Honestly, it's because you've shown very strong and "extreme" dislikw towards the game, with no apparent intelligent reasoning behind it. And THAT isn't doing much for the credibility that you believe you have.
I'm not trying to "enlighten" you, or help you realize lack of logic in your assumptions and thinking because it's already obvious you will refuse to see the game from any other point of view than the one you're looking from now. (Or, "borrowed" any other point of view, rather, since you sren't even basing any opinions off of your own personal experience. Or, lsck there of, I suppose.) I'm just pointing why you are receiving the amount of negative attention you are.

and now I can comment on the game having had the chance to play the demo. And wow, what a let down of mythic proportions!! Subrosian, I don't know what you got so excited about. The graphics aren't what I would have expected from a 360 game and the gameplay itself was so uninspired. I had more fun playing with an Xcel sheet. I can't see this game getting more than a 6.0 on Gamespot. Oh Silicon Knights.... how could you? :|

It seems we have a reason why you need to change the date, to play the other classes. Sk put in a time release on the demo, which was meant to unlock the commando and beserker at certain dates. They set the demo up to unlock the beserker on 25th July and the commando on 12th August, hence why changing the date to 2009 works.
Pretty cool, though i guess we ruined that surprise for them. :)

wow, I didn't even play through it once all the way. Not that I didn't like it, I loved it, I just want wait for the full release before I put any more than an hour into it.I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why excel didn't want to try the game out! I mean, I had been holding out hope for the game because I loved the concept, however from seeing videos and reading articles I had nearly given up hope. I loved the demo and I know it'll be a day 1 puchase for me and I'll sink hundreds of hours into it with the co-op alone.
But Excel...damn man. Just try the demo. Just reading this thread you have seen people who formerly bashed the game take a complete 180 by just playing it. It's like just licking the frosting at a cake-tasting contest. Sure, you think the frosting blows, but you haven't tasted everything that's available to you yet! What if it's filled with delicious custard and vanilla crumbles!
