On Live is the coolest idea ever lol, that way there'd be no need to upgrade every year, god its annoying
I doubt this will take off to be honest. Not in this generation anyway.
The competition is tight as it is.
Its a good idea I have to admit. But really a console is a console, you need the games to back you up. If you don't have first party games that are strong enough, it'll only end as a gimmick.
If you don't have a fast internet connection (more than 1.5MB) expect your games to look like crap. I am pretty sure no one here has over 3 MB.

I got 5 and 10ms but I still wouldn't expect a 1080p 7.1 audio out of that.
I have 15MB/s. No that isn't a typo.If you don't have a fast internet connection (more than 1.5MB) expect your games to look like crap. I am pretty sure no one here has over 3 MB.

I'm intrigued by this service; if it can really deliver lag-free gaming, it will be an extremely compelling value proposition.

streaming wise definately not. This could take off huge if fiber optics were commonplace throughout the larger countries of the world (damn you Japan)

That's my thoughts on it as well.
My question is why wouldn't 360, PS3, Wii just do this if it became popular?

Exactly, thinking that a new name on the scene thought of this and the big companies offering consoles didn't, is just kinda silly. In theory it sounds great, running high specced games through an internet connection on your crapola pc, but in practice something like this will turn out incredibly expensive, potentially a major chore to implement. It's a risk for the company.
zeebo will currently be launching in brazil for the time being.. but i do see some upside with ea and sega on boardDon't doubt the Zeebo. Sleeper hit of 2009 aka the Year of the Zeebo.
lolfaqs
Didn't say 360 there... hmmmI won't buy a next gen console that doesn't have discs. If all consoles go DD next gen, I'll be more than happy to collect games for NES, SNES, PS2, PS3, Wii, and GCN.

No physical copy, no digital copy, reliant on Internet connection....
Good luck? :?

They will need it alright, because they will have to cover
1. the vast bandwidth of delivering 720HD in millions
2. the vast computational power needed to run multiple instances of the latest games in great visuals and high settings
To me, that is totally impossible to work in actual reality
Nintendo wouldnt probably have much of a problem since their console relies heavily on their "unique" controller and their first party games.... but I also dont think that Sony and MS would just stand right there and watch their arses get whipped by this(if it does deliver) I guess all we have to do now is wait and see what will happen... I know its sweet being able to play Crysis on my sluggish PC(I have good connection :D) but part of me doesnt want this service to succeed... oh and one more thing.... here's hoping that the billing wont hurt my wallet, cuz, I have a funny feeling that it would(Im guessing maintaining those high-end servers aint cheap).

And they haven't said anything about multiplayer gaming.
I remember hearing about this concept - bringing cloud computing to gaming - years ago, but at that time the input lag was just to great to overcome. If they really have overcome that problem, than we might be in for a revolution in the game industry.

Well they did say they spent 7 years to get this right.
The system is designed to allow players to stream on-demand games at the highest quality onto any Intel-based Mac or PC running XP or Vista, regardless of how powerful the computer. WTF? lol i dont get this? so you need a pc to run the games? or what bigmacattackjac
All you need is the little box and a PC or MAC with high speed connection.

Re-read his post, he said "MB" not "Mb", there is a difference.

alright, ill watch that crap, but from what i gather this console + any pc regardless of how powerful pc is will beable to stream games at max settings to a hdtv. im calling bs on this. lol the link i seen showed f.e.a.r 2 and crysis warhead multiplayer. so this console and a 400 mhz pc will beable to run crysis warhead multiplayer on max direct x 10 settings? Nobody said it was a console...
