Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced that the highly anticipated PC version of Devil May Cry 4 is ready for release this summer. Devil May Cry 4 is already a certifiable hit in the console world, having shipped over two million units worldwide since its European release in February. A demo of the game will be released for PC players before the retail version ships, allowing PC gamers to try the game ahead of time as well as testing their system's prowess with the included benchmark mode. The PC version of Devil May Cry 4 will feature new modes, enhanced graphics options and some additional content. Devil May Cry 4 has been rated 16+ by PEGI.

Good things come to those who wait as PC owners will benefit from having more modes and more visual customisation options to help enhance their demon-slaying action. Turbo mode will turn up the action to insane speeds, while Legendary Dark Knight Mode will harness advanced PC processing power and fill the screen with an unbelievable number of enemies for extra difficulty. Moreover, familiar enemies from the console versions will show-up in new locations in the PC version. The high resolution screen settings allow the cut scenes of the game to run at up to 120 frames per second (up from 30 frames per second in the console version of the game). Slider options are available to manage various visual effects seen throughout the game. Devil May Cry 4 for the PC will have both DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 modes and will also be compliant with the Games For Windows program.

As a DMC fan, I'm glad they brought some extra content for PC gamers to enjoy as well. While not a simple PC edition of DMC4, Capcom took the time to use the maximum capabilities of the PC platform for its game, which pretty much is only bottlenecked by whatever hardware limit you wish to leave your PC at.

I don't believe these to be official, but they look VERY realistic. Link

The official system requirements apparently haven't been released yet, so take this with a grain of salt, but like I said, this could be pretty close.

Just an observation. The PS3 cutscenes are at 60 fps, not 30. Xbox360 has them at 30.

Anyway, the specs for PC DMC4 seem to be extremely high as a Quad Core 6600 with a [dual]8800GTX barely struggles to manage 30fps in the benchmark and that without the graphically demanding special effects like exceed, gilgamesh effects or pandora exposions. That's pretty much unplayable for DMC4 which has frame based input attacks and needs a perfect 60 fps.

Now if you got the latest hardware on the market and a good PS2/3 controller hooked up, things are looking up.

not calling anyone a liar but it has been proved by the guys at b3d that the cutscenes in the PS3 version run at 60 fps and those in the Xbox360 version at 30. Simple as that.

The devs probably refered to 30(Xbox) instead of 60(PS3) just so the gap appear wider. The yare not lying, just talking half truth.

Never said anything about extra features, just that there's no effects in the scene, no exceed, explosions or gilgamesh effects, which any DMC4 player knows they are very graphically demanding as well as the fact that the game needs 60 fps 'cose of the reason i previously explained.

No worry though, i'm sure the latest hardware plays it.

Ok, but where is the link to the person that supposedly did this and his explanation of the benchmark? All I see is a picture, where is the link to the actual benchmark? I'm still waiting for the link to B3D.

How about providing articles not just pictures and gifs? it means nothing without reasoning or explanation behind it, could be an early build? 1920 x XXXX is huge anyway, the average is 1280 x 1024 or 1650 x 1050

Its theoriticaly impossible to get that game playable at a good difficulty with the KB, trust me, i suffered through DMC3 and had to give into a controller

On the other hand RE4 is great with the keyboard, i dont know why people whine, mouse support would mean you could just run-n-gun

That's all the information there is right now, if they optimised the engine further on PC, even better (though the benchmark pictures were released yesterday i think) and the actual explanation of the cutscene framerate on the PS3 version is on Beyond3d console forum (i had the gif in my PC) so feel free to look it up.

There is a picture with the same setup on a boss fight with 75 FPS.

Maybe that pic you showed is the "Tons more monsters" mode.

Do they mention what the requirements are to get 120 fps?

Too bad the game stunk. What's the use of all of the extra crap if the core design of the game blows.

Welcome to console gaming circa Feb 2008. But its cool to see that even hermits recognize how awesome consoles games are and devote whole posts to them even when they have to wait months to get them.

Would you rather play the low grade version of a game or wait a few months for the superior version?

i very much doubt that this going to sell very well on the PC. although playing it on a PC with a controller would be fine, its just not the right type of game for a PC really. i hope im wrong mind and that they do well (great to see a japanese dev actually spend some time on a PC game) but i just suspect that sales will fall flat on their face. its a late port of a genre not usually associated with the PC.

in saying that, as i said above, its great to see that capcom are actually putting effort in (unlike a certain RE4 port) and the technology seems to sing on the PC. id love to see capcom take a shot at a more PC centric title. Sega have already done it (well they bought the creative assembly) and have had great success with it. and the one thing PCs lack is japanese dev backing. i hope, if DMC4 fails, that they dont just decide to ignore the PC again based on that. as a PC gamer, id love to see something a bit crazy like no more heros or zack and wiki or okami...or something new...on the PC and built for the PC.

Easy. I wait :)

PC games tend to have more longevity, but don't most gamers in general have plenty to keep them occupied with anyway, there's no need to immediately run out and get a new game?

However, pro-consolers can pounce on this one if they wish --- waiting is not unlimited and needs to be within reason (Halo 2 was unreasonable IMO).

Halo 2 was a MS PR stunt to sell Vista. I agree with the rest of your post, waiting for the superior version is a no-brainer if you have the hardware for it, especially in the long run with user created content, its pretty sweet.

Welcome to console gaming circa Feb 2008. For consoles to suck and for our games to be a "dumbed down" experience, getting a console game on PC sure gives you guys one helluva hard on.

there's absolutely no reason why the mouse shouldn't perform the best for a third person camera, if it doesn't than it's a lame port. If they are truly working on this title and adding better graphics, they had better make sure the periphials of choice, the mouse and keyboard, are fully functioning, fluid, and fully mappable, like all great PC games. If it isn't, expect poor sales, like it deserves.
