sure there was significant leaps, just play battlefield modern combat on x360 than play battlefield 3, its like ps2 vs ps3

but its software optimization, all the optimization they did in battlefield works the same on PC the same way all improvements in PS3 games would be the same in 7 years old PC hardware if you could run then on pc, hardware optimization is the myth, not software optimization

hardware optimization is a lie created to make you pay for overpriced console hardware and they make you believe it by showing software optimization that benefits both pc and console hardware

4gb ram and a dual core?

6gb is the min req for Dead Rising 3 and will probably be the same or higher for all next gen multiplats. And this just barely meets the min req for cpu.

xbox one has only 4,5gb for games, this PC has 4gb, but this faster graphics card can really use all the 1gb Vram while Xbox One GPU is too slow to use even 900mb

Xbox 360 has only 512mb for games. Do last gen multiplats run on pc's with 512mb? It's likely that more ram could be freed up as the gen goes on as well.

Dead Rising 3 is the first next gen only multiplat and a good indicator of what requirements will be like. The cpu in you build will require oc'ing. It's also very likely that dual cores will become obsolete as devs try to get he most out of these 8 core console cpu's.

Minimum specs:

  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit edition, Windows 8 64-bit edition.
  • Processor: Intel Core i3-3220 @ 3.30GHz (or Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 @ 2.83GHz) / AMD Phenom II X4 945 @ 3.00 GHz or higher.
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM.
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 570 / AMD Radeon 7870 or higher.
  • DirectX: Version 11.

yes just like watchdogs and cod ghosts required 6gb ram and use only 2gb

if you put this game with the same xbox's resolution and settings; it will probably use 1,5 gb of system ram + 700mb of Vram

So you're using cross gen multiplats as a defense for an inadequate pc? You don't think any game in the near future will truly need a pc with at least 6gb? You think devs are going to take extra time to recode the pc versions of multiplats for people with low ram?

in the present you have no game that uses more than 2,5gb ram and most next gen games like NFS rivals, Tomb Raider using 800mb up to 1,5gb of system ram

in the near and distant future multiplats you be based on PS4 and X1 that both have 4,5gb for games, this means they only have 2 or 2,5gb to use as system ram, if they dont recode anything at all PC multiplatform games you be using 2,5gb max of system ram and 1gb for win8 so with 4gb you still have spare room

all gen 7 multiplatform games still use average 300mb on PC in 2014, thats bcause ps3 has only 256mb and lazyness on PC devs make then use 300 - 350

Tomb Raider? A last gen game remaster is the example you're using?

Out of curiosity I just tested Arkham City and it was using 890 mb ram.

This pc here has a total of 5gb which is the same amount that the xbox one has for games alone. Except that pc also needs to run windows and pc games have always been known to use more ram for games than consoles. Why would you think this gen will be any different?

Oh and the r7 260 is below the Dead Rising 3 min req too.

tomb raider on ps4 had 50% of all features that made PC version so superior cut because ps4 was too slow for it

r7 260x will run dr3 and it will be much better than on x1, just like it is now with watchdogs and cod ghosts

@leandrro: You just randomly make Shit up? It lost tesselation in favor of better lighting, particle effects and dynamic environments.

And if hardware optimization is a myth why do all Assassin Creeds, skyrim, BF3 or any other games that came out in the past 5 years not even run on a 7800gs. Also console hardware is hardly overpriced when they usually take a loss on the hardware.

I hate to sound mean, but please go learn some basic business, finance, or accounting. This price comparison makes NO sense at all and it is hard to get started with breaking down the stupidity or ignorance of your post. You cannot spend near $400 and say well it comes with $99-$150 worth of games so it's really like spending $199-$299. The fact is you're spending $500 regardless of whether it's a good deal or a bad one. You are -500 regardless of the value of the extra content.

On a side topic that is a terrible computer. I'd rather buy an xbox one than own that POS. Even if that POS really sold for 299 and I was on a budget.

you might go argue with digital foundry, they basically said that PC version is superior in all respects

they dont run in 7800gs just because of dx9, but they do on a dx10 card like 8800gs, and it still surpass ps3 1,5 to 1 just like it would do if there was zero optimization on ps3 hardware

to check how consoles are overpriced check the digital foundry pc from 2010/2011

Who the **** would build a $299 PC? People who know how to build them would certainly spend 3-4 times that if not more and for the people who don't, would get something prebuilt that costs more than that too.

Not to mention "this means i did not include a full priced windows 7 licence that would add up to $384"

What a fucking joke.

Still don't see why a PC has to be the same price, or cheaper, than a console. Might aswell buy, you know, a console.

for me its all about keyboard and mouse in FPS games

plus i like cheap games and emulators

you can't run PCSX2, SSF, NullDC, or Dolphin with the shitty CPU you have there. Stuff like Snes9X runs even on a toaster though.

this is my old and much weaker $300 pc from 2012, this 299 in the topic ir much faster

Gamespot at least used a cpu that looks to have more longevity than the dual core and they use a 2gb gpu. Even their system will be below min reqs on games soon. Neither pc will have a chance in hell of running the first true next gen multiplat Arkham Knight. I don't count Dead Rising 3 since it was rushed for release and isn't taking full advantage of xbones power.

You get what you pay for... discussion based around building a cheaper/cheaper PC than a console is simply that. No serious gamer who can afford otherwise would willingly limit themselves.

I don't think I have seen another thread with such a high BS/fallacy to logical argument ratio. There are seriously about 2-3 posts in this thread that don't reek of challenged synapses.

Skip the Diablotek PSU. I have a 750w Diablotek PSU. It can handle an HD 5770 just fine. But, it can't handle a GTX 560 Ti or higher. I mean it'll do okay until the action gets heated. Then the PSU gets really hot.

You can build a PC for same price (or even lower) than that of PS4 and X1 and it can still outperform both of them . However , it is not a smart move to do so . If you want to enter PC gaming , try spending at least 700-800$ for kickass PC that can last for 5+ years .

There is no comparison between PC and consoles , and there is no reason for PC to be cheap like consoles , since it offers way more than what other platforms do . It is going to save you more money in the long run anyway .

Loss the argument against the PS4 so now you pick on the xbox one...

I tell you the same, drop that dual core, include Blu-ray which the xbox one has and allows for high quality 1080p movies, add windows and drop that sorry ass power supply.

The only thing that starts house fires is Sony batteries, laptop power supplies, and Xbox power cables...

So now $300 pc hardware outperforms the XB1. Did consolites expect this not to happen? I'd probably bump it up $20 and get an athlon 740k

and diablotek PSUs

yeah, but i dont have $800, my wife would kill me, i'll stick with a $400 one and upgrade it to $800 equivalent parts, when their price s down to $150

my 7870 is equivalent to a gtx580, in 2011 a gtx580 used to cost $450, now my 7870 costs only $130, im not sure its smart to buy a future proof machine

I would never ever touch a half assed built PC, you ether go all in or you go home when it comes down to building a gaming rig.

gamespot built a very similar PC, also i have a $400 PC and its all joy, sure i would love a $800 PC more if i had the extra $400

Loss the argument against the PS4 so now you pick on the xbox one...

I tell you the same, drop that dual core, include Blu-ray which the xbox one has and allows for high quality 1080p movies, add windows and drop that sorry ass power supply.

my $400 PC destroys the PS4, its ultra vs medium

Well, this thread backfired HARD. LOL

I love how you find the cheapest peripherals possible, and lie about a $10 "xbox" controller(it's a cheap knock off), yet don't look for any deals for xbox live, just post the retail price. Are you even trying? This is embarrassing.

Since you are adding savings from games on PC(a limited selection comes with cards, because of deals with publishers) I'll add all the savings on the xbox I will make over the years because I'm able to rent games and pick the ones I want. I can beat the game the week it launches for a fraction of the cost. No waiting a year for steam sale.

Over a generation, that'll add up to negative thousands of dollars, they're basically paying me to play games by your logic. I don't think even the Hermies are claiming you anymore, this is just sad...

So now $300 pc hardware outperforms the XB1. Did consolites expect this not to happen?

I didn't see any benchmarks showing this build beating anything.

Yeah, so what, you think that your ignorance of the specs mean it isn't true? Sounds like the classical argument from ignorance to me.

The ram, gpu and cpu are below min req of next gen multiplats which is what this build is supposed to be all about.

The only thing that starts house fires is Sony batteries, laptop power supplies, and Xbox power cables...

So now $300 pc hardware outperforms the XB1. Did consolites expect this not to happen? I'd probably bump it up $20 and get an athlon 740k

i like the idea of having 4 cores/treads, but benchmarks show this little thing beating 740k, not sure of what is best, this one uses less Watts so you can plug it in a shittier PSU

Most hermits on SW wont even agree with these guys. This thread being perfect evidence of that

But it's up to the TC to prove it's true...

Or are you saying that since Cranler can't prove it false, it's true?

@leandrro: A PS3 trounces a 7800gtx in just about every game that came out the past 4 years. That's not a myth that's a fact. Go run any AC, Crysis or any other major title over the past 4 years. A 8800GtX still beats a PS3 just as a 780ti will always beat a PS4. But even a 6600 was beating the PS3 at launch and after 2 years it was getting trounced. Optimization is a fact plain and simple but it does have it's limits. These budget cards that are close in console performance won't be for long. However the high end cards will still outperform them.

The only reason the PS3 and 360 were able to later beat a 7800gtx was because of unified shaders tech.

The 7800gtx lacked this tech. If the game was not shader intensive then it would win against the 360/PS3.

Most early games were not anything shader intensive so that is why the 7800gtx held the lead.

This gen consoles don't have any spec tech that is also not present on PC.

There won't be any big jump like last gen and your view of optimization is a myth.

I know this because an old 8600gts and overclocked 8600gt (both similar in power to consoles) can still match last gen consoles if not exceed them at times.

The 8800gtx doesn't just beat the PS3 and Xbox 360 it trashes it just like it did at release.

It can run Bioshock Infinite smoothly at the highest directx 10 settings at 1600x900.

The consoles could only run it at a mix of mostly medium with some low settings at 1280x720.

And that thing uses 4gb to do everything including running your OS so what's your point? $50 more you can buy premade laptops more powerful than that.

$350 notebook with a GPU more powerfull than R7 260X? show me that please, closest thing ive seen was a razer with 7970M wich is a downcloked 7870 at $2500

why you keep repeating that? im sure you know that those minimum requirements are BS and you still keep pretending that this PC will not run those games
