People who want to play on computer have one platform to choose from, people who want to play on console have 5 active platforms to choose from.

People who want to play XboxOne have one system to choose from. People who want to play PC have one system to choose from.

PC is 1 system. XboxOne is 1 system.

Looking at 'console vs PC' from a fanboy standpoint is stupid. As if the fan base is segregated and not the same gamers. Everyone is a potential gamer and customer.

There's no such thing as a console experience and a pc experience. By experience I mean everything from buying or building the system, game buying, trading in, borrowing to peripheral preferences.

I mean if a gamer wants to play the latest shooters online, doesn't want to build the system himself, doesn't want to pay a lot for the system, wants to trade in game when bored and prefers a controller, the experience will be exactly the same across all platforms.

If a gamer wants the xbox one experience they will choose the xbox one, if they want the ps 4 experience they will choose the ps 4. It's not like xbone and ps 4 experiences have a a lot more in common with each other than they do with pc.

They have huge player numbers because they are often free to play titles.You expose your game to huge audiences. With a huge playerbase you can then push advertising, just like all the ads plastered on the game maps at the DOTA 2 international. It's a money machine which does not necessarily represent quality. Again, things like metacritic can be used for quality. In this case many games appear to be well received and highly rated. I was merely pointing out that you shouldn't merely claim "more players = better" in an argument because that would mean CoD has been the best series for the better part of a decade.

Agreed. The people who like to build there own systems, use custom cooling and overclock are just like the guys who want to just drop $400 on a prebuilt gaming system at walmart. People who prefer controllers are just like those who prefer m/kb.

It's about quality games and money, not your walled perception of gamers.

Most PC gamers are not big epeen tech nerds with custom oc rigs and kbm Bushido devotion. People just want to play and if you give them a venue they will be there.

PC is the most easily accessible of home platforms, and most common. Dev occurs on PC, and distribution is cheapest as well.

PC is common, cheap, and easy. Gamers transition between PC and consoles as easily as changing from one phone to another.

Precisely, switching phones is just like switching between kb/m and controller for competitive mp. Barriers to entry on both consoles and pc are exactly the same just like with all phones.

Yep. All games developed on pc have pc versions. Anyone who wants to play Madden has the same number of venue choices as someone who wants to play LoL.

For the insanely high userbases on consoles exlusives dont seem to sell, there are few who do. Like say halo or uncharted but most of them sell less than a multiplatform game on the console.

I just dont see the point anymore, as yoshida said only 4/10 sony exlusives are profitable, so why they keep making them?

Where are your Fable numbers? I was under the impression they sold about 3 million copies each.

People who want the console experience will buy whatever console they deem best and buy games for it. At this time there are 5 active consoles to choose from. This means that there would need to be 5x as many console gamers as there are pc gamers for those console platforms to have a chance at beating the pc.

If there were only 1 console would those consolites quit gaming, go to pc or simply buy that one console?

6th gen GTA is a great example to be used for getting an idea of what would happen if there were one console since the PS 2 dominated. Almost all GTA sales were on PS 2 because that's the console most people owned. Last gen the xbox brand was much more competitiove so we saw GTA sales split more evenly.

Assassins Creed is considered a console centric game while Starcraft 2 is a pc game through and through.

In Dec of 2012 Ubi reported 7 million sales, the game was selling so well retailers ordered 5 million more copies by Feb of 2013.

PC gamers far outnumber console yet consolites dictate the actions of the publishers. It makes pc gamers look bad though when pc games sell so poorly. 160k sales is all it takes to reach the top of the Steam sales charts

Shipped numbers mean nothing. Those retail buyers for stores are completely clueless. They ordered 29 million copies of GTA V in the first six weeks. Most of those copies were collecting dust on shelves and what do the purchasers do? They order another 4 million.

Every consolite I know has a rig capable of playing multiplats. I believe there's a conspiracy by console manufacturers to inflate sales number of those multiplats. Obviously a pcgamer/consolite would buy the pc version of multiplats.
