lol console sales absolutely eat PC sales

lol wut. take off your master chief helmet before you read the basic elementary chart next time.
this made me lol out loudThis topic is locked from further discussion.
you realize that with MMOs this is factoring in monthly payments. so the numbers represented by MMOS are not proportional to the number of people who actually play the games.
I find it humorous that to compete with consoles in sales that PC gamers need to admit that "social" and "casual" gaming makes up almost half of their industry and is only offset by MMOs. if all three of those groups (MMOs, casual, and social) were gone, the PC gaming industry would be coming in at half the profit of the console gaming industry.
I dont think that the constantly infered "utopia" of a PC dominated insdusty is going to be realized any time soon (or ever, for that matter). at least not in terms of what real gamers are playing (not all this social and casual crap).

If you only did this, if you only did that...
Fact is, this is the way things are, PC slice is bigger. And I don't see you complaining that three competitor platforms are all combined into the same console slice, or that their slice isn't being categorized like PC is; to identity their primary income areas.
Ah right, that would require being unbiased.

Even if we remove all that do you realize that PC is just one platform and doesn't have the support of any big name like Sony, M$ or Nintendo? Half of all the other consoles put together sounds pretty good to me. Bear in mind that consoles include even the older ones like ps2, handhelds (psp, ds) and rental market.

I was simply pointing out that if you are talking about "gaming" as defined by actual gamers (like people who frequent this forum), than the PC isnt selling half as much as consoles in that department. im not arguing that the PC as a platform is selling more, but really the point I was making is that this information we are seeing seems more damaging to the PC's image than it is positive.
when console gamers make jabs at the PC for being largely comprised of casual and social gaming (like facebook games), you will have to be unbiased and fess up to the fact that they comprise about 40% of the PC gaming industry.

If the console gaming industry made no profit, then PC would be ahead 100%. See what arbitrary limitations can do?
Yeah, let´s not forget that the console slice is including everything from serious to casual(kinect, move) and from every single console out there, including hanhelds! :lol:The Grandma/MMO/Nancy Drew/Facebook alliance is beating consoles by a small percentage. Take that!
Maybe if you point that out to rockstar they will ignore the obscene piracy of mulitplats on pc and bring over L.A. Noire.dc337
Even if you reduce the PC to only Retail/DD/MMO´s there´s still not a single console that comes even close to it...
Casual game portals seriously.... Dont about you guys but I would not be braging about those numbers there, they look pretty pathetic TBH. Are we going to start hyping the nest big pojo game :P Usually when people talk about the PC, they talk about all the great exclusives, and all those go in the 19% in that chart. And thats not even that bad, its pretty good if you think about it. Just saying there is no need to add all that other garbage, because its not really the market we care about. But if you do, by all means start hyping the next great facebook game :D
I would think it should do better. But it's a sin to combine the three companies against, everyone else. :| Let´s not forget that the console side also includes all the hadhels, not just the main three home systems. ;)[QUOTE="rcignoni"]
You know, individually, the PC would probably stand pretty well against the 3 consoles.

even if it was 19% and "MMO DIDAN"T COUNT!!11", it still beats the consoles individually. that 43% includes 6 systems.

yeah I know 19% is pretty impressive for a single platform.... who knows what the others would be individually.
[QUOTE="Arach666"]And even without all the casual stuff it´s still the biggest single gaming platform. Even though gamers still prefer the console experience[QUOTE="tomarlyn"]Not surprised considering its the biggest casual gaming platform.tomarlyn
Nah.. that's why PC sales are the highest :)

Do you not know how to read a piegraph? Or do you just like to shout fanboyish claims in the hope they become true?
Cool story bro?
Yes, PC gaming is alive and well, and with enough money invested, can provide the highest level of graphics....we get it. I mean, at this point, who are the PC gamers trying to convince, console players or themselves?
If you're only playing PC, or Consoles, then great gaming will be sacrificed...period. Each of their pros and cons, and should be invested in based solely on individual needs and desires.
I would think it should do better. And everyone else meant the PC.[QUOTE="LOXO7"]

Why yes and I'm a pc gamer too skippy[QUOTE="Arach666"]And even without all the casual stuff it´s still the biggest single gaming platform. The Sims isn't casual? Pokemon's pretty hardcore.

Pokemon's pretty hardcore.
And so can be The Sims,CoD,Mario,etc... That´s my point. ;)Not very impressive for the PC platform given it's far superior user base to consoles. The standard deviation in major European countries is ~ the same as the US, Germany being the exception.
The PCGA tallied 250 million PC gamers world wide in 2007-08, but I'm not sure if this number includes social networks/online casual games. Mobile devices should be counted towards the total for PCs since handhelds like the DS and PSP are amalgamated for consoles which would bring the standing to 43% for consoles and 57% for PC.
The problem I have with counting flash-based games/online casual games is that the PS3 and Wii can access some of those same games and do they even have a method to distinguish which platform/browser accessed which site?
That said, nothing relatively impressive about these numbers for each platform. If anything, this just refutes the arguments made by both console and PC zealots decrying the death of PC gaming or the PC apologetic boasting about how significantly larger his platform is. Neither are correct in their assertions.
