Played a 360 tonight, for the first time in a year and a half.

And to think, the emotion chipset was the only reason I ever considered one. Oh well, not anymore Sony. Microsoft knows what's up. SSCyborg

Exsqueeze me?
All XBox games are BC compatible?

Well, **** me sideways.
Oh, wait; They're not.

And, I've seen enough threads about how they've not updated their BC list in FOREVER.
Either way, if you had gotten your hand on the PS3 Bundle, with their flagship title; You'd get BC for almost any PS branded game you'd want to play. It's the niche titles for both systems you're not going to get. Works both ways, sorry.

If you were to go the 40gb route, you still get all PS1 games.
So, Sony is still essentially playing the MS/Nintendo route. BC from one console.
Unless, you were to get that bundle, ya know...

Or, eBay an older model....

If PS2 games are important, you could play them on your PS2.
Who the **** doesn't have one lol?

BC is definitely a luxury to have.
Like you, I probably wont settle without the best there is, or I could find...
BC is important, yes. But, even on my 360, I hardly play any older XBox titles.
So, I doubt you'd play the hundereds of games the PS/PS2 has to offer, or you couldn't find on their list of BC titles one that you'd want to play.

However, this wall of text is wasted on you.
For God's sake, you're a part of a "Lemming Army."

But:

A) Microsoft has BC on every system. It may not be as much as Sony, but you have to realize Microsoft was just joining the console market.

B) I didn't own a PS1 or PS2. Looks like I won't be able to play those games I missed on the PS3 that I was going to buy. I want to play the PS2 games more btw.

I never knew those factors mattered.

Blu Ray is barely a standard disc format. And at least Microsoft has standard wireless headset. (I can't even find a bluetooth headset that doesn't send out static online.)

The XMB is so simplistic with barely any creative aspects to it. The Xbox's Dashboard is simple AND very creative and has some well placed features. The XMB feels half-assed to me.

The Xbox 360 may seem basic and last gen on the outside. But once you get inside, you're in a different world.

So for the 6 hours your friend bought his 360 around, all you did was look at the hardware. Is that all you do with your PS3, look at it?

This is why PS3 sells to a lot of people I guess. Nothing to do with games and being a gamer, just a gadget collector with no real concept of what being an actual gamer is like.

We don't care about how a console looks, just how it plays games and what games we get to play. That's why people like the 360, Wii and PS3 - nothing to do with looks or cables required really.

The Playstation 3 does not come with a headset. You have to buy a Bluetooth headset separately which is alright since it may work for your phone as well. You can on the other hand buy a wireless mic for the Xbox 360.

The slot on the PS3 is better in my opinion. The tray for the Xbox 360 seem very cheap although it has held up for me for a year now.

It is pretty cool that PS3 can use any hard drive. It's not because of the technology though. The main reason the Xbox 360 cannot use a regular hard drive is for marketing and marketing only.

Xbox 360 does have built in wireless controllers that transmit data via infared and PS3 uses blutooth, but I think you mean wi-fi. It is very convinient to have built in wi-fi for PS3.

The reason I bought a PS3 after I got my 360 was mainly for the Blu-Ray functionality. But Blu-ray is owned by Sony so I don't think Microsoft will have it until the next generation of gaming consoles which is right around the corner.

Did you know the PS3 doesn't have memory sluts? So inconvenient.

The power brick is very big and hot I agree.

The interface is personal choice. Although I do agree with you the PS3 has a much nicer interface than the Xbox 360's. But before the end of the year the interface will hace a major facelift making much more sleek like the PS3's.

The later models of Xbox 360s do have HDMI sluts so in order to get it, you would have to trade it in.

The grafics are supposed to be cartoony on some of the games. The truth is the 360 has more power than the PS3. I forgot where I read it, but the author of the article did a detailed breakdown of the different computing parts and proved that the Xbox had more power than the PS3. Also if you look at the graphical comparisons made my gamespot, Xbox comes out on top on all three.

In conclusion, the PS3 is a more complete package and it is more universal, but you could probably get all that extra stuff for the Xbox for about the same price. And also the the Xbox plays the games much better than the PS3. You make the choice they both have their pros and cons.

siskokidd

Not really.

Sony owns the logo, but, like CD and SACD, it was developed with Philips.
Contributing to the development of the format were/are **** Pioneer, Thomson, LG Electronics, Hitachi, Sharp and Samsung.
The current Board of Directors is comprised of:

Apple
Dell
HP
Hitachi
LG
Mitsubishi Electric
Panasonic
Pioneer
Philips
Samsung
Sharp
Sony
Sun Microsystems
TDK
Thomson
Twentieth Century Fox
Walt Disney
Warner Bros.

Sony does not "own" Blu-ray.

I played a little Dead Rising, Crackdown, Perfect Dark Zero and the graphis are downright cartoony compared to PS3 titles like Uncharted and MGS4.

hockeyruler12

/credibility

Dead Rising's graphics are toned down due to the massive amounts of enemies.

There is nothing wrong with how Dead Rising looks. I love the way that game looks to be honest.

Man I wish I could experince that game for the first time again... ya know, playing a game for the first time is the best. After you beat it, you can never get the awesome feeling back by replaying it again. :(

Did you know that if you want to use a headset, it plugs into the controller? PS3 had Bluetooth.

*and...how far is your headset going from the controler?*

Did you know that is has an old fashioned disc tray? PS3 has slot loading.

*as does the Wii, but this means what? how you load disks has how much to do with the actual gameplay?*

Did you know the 360 has to use MS branded hard-drive at a marked up price? PS3 uses any laptop HD.

*i thought this was commen knowlage...why talk to us like nobody else has a 360 XD*

*however i will agree that this was a stupid move on Microsofts part*

Did you know the 360 has no built in wireless? I think you already know, the PS3 does.

*another point i must agree with, however its cheaper and arguably better to get a wired connection ;)*

Its not capable of playing Bluray either.

*and....? sorry but i will buy a bluray player when i want to watch movies, not a game console*

Did you know it has memory card slots? So last gen!

*giving a simple way to bring game files to another console is last gen? i would have prefered ninty gave me this option too instead of SD cards*

(oh, wheres the HDMI slot, MS?)

*on later versions of the console, TC ;)*

We tried loading some original Xbox games and after trying 9 and being denied support, we finally got Halo to work and thats it.

*bad luck to have 9 games the 360 dosen't support. or has it been updated ever?...sorry but out of 300+ compatible games, you only get one working sounds a bit fishy to me*

Dang this thread got people wound up lol. But yes most of the things are nitpicky, I'll agree. But its the whole package of nitpicks that just make us feel that the 360 is a step back hardware wise and feature wise.

Just put it this way, when my wife first seen me playing Gears with the 360 and I had on the headset, she laughed and said what the hell is that? Ok so say what you want but when my wife even notices something like that, which she isn't tech savy at all, says a whole alot. And for people saying wired headsets of the 360 is better? Isn't the wired headset plugged into the wireless controller? Just saying.

And yes I think most knows that the new 360's come with a hdmi port, but the 20gb premium I would have had to buy the hdmi cable assembly from ms to be able to use hdmi and optical audio. Fact. I'll post a link to circuity city siting that the premium only comes with componant/av cable assembly if yall would like again.

And yes the power brick is a nitpick but do yall realise how much a/v equipment I have and all the cords back there anyway, much less to find a open area where that thing can rest, while the ps3 I was able to just plug it into the closes open plug in the protector.

And then the hdmi/componant cable discussion, yes there is a slight improvement with hdmi, I'm only running my cable what maybe 3 ft so I don't need a 100ft cable run. And also sources such as dvd players, sat. boxes and cable boxes do something better than others. My cable hd box actually looks just as good with componant cables then hdmi, so I use componant. But my Dish box looks better with hdmi, aswell as my hddvd player. So yes you can see a difference and for me it is with the colors, brightness settings for dark levels, and a bit more sharpness. So there is a difference. So don't just say why don't you just use componant, cause I would like to see which is better lol. Not going to buy a ms cable for $60 just to see when I have everything right there if the 360 was made correctly. Edited: Also I did have compression arifacts in Bioshock demo when played in the dark areas and in the water, a hdmi cable may have helped this situation. Happens on my dish box if using componant cables aswell.

Also my tv didn't come with a hdmi cable so I didn't even think other wise when the ps3 didn't come with one, nor did my older upconverting dvd player have one, nor did my hddvd player have one.

I can't get over the fact that the optical audio cable isn't built into the motherboard of the 360. Thats where it went south for me from that point for the 360. And possibly if ms wouldn't have added componant cables or hdmi cables for elites maybe that money could have went for a proper motherboard to have been installed into the 360.

XMB on the ps3 is simple and then the themes that can be used and seen, aswell as just using family pics for a background is awesome. My 4 year old can navigate the xmb with out issues, even installing the demos I downloaded earlier, all by himself. I wouldn't turn him loose on the 360, things just seem to hidden and it is just feels clunky sorry. And then everything just felt like there was a pause between every input movement I did to navigate through the dashboard. Almost like all of the EA games menu screens. Where you accidently move twice cause it didn't move the first time you tried. I guess its just not responsive.

And the game I played was Gears, and I want go into this subject to much, some of you already know my feelings on it. But after a boss battle with the boss getting stuck and I couldn't kill him, and another enemy getting stuck later on that kept the level from moving forward until I found him in a corner, was just enough for me.

So if you say its the drive tray and its nitpicking yes, but as a new owner of a 360 and having the ps3 prior and running into all of these things in a course of a week, it was just mind numbing sorry. From the time at unpackaging the 360, to installing, to playing one of the biggest titles, nothing seemed like quality was never even thought about for the 360. Just my opinion. If you have one I hope you enjoy it.

P.S. No exact test but Tiger woods on xbl downloaded at 20min, on the ps3 is downloaded at 38mins. so neither one your going to sit right down and play. So just start your downloads and forget about them until after some gaming time :)

I know its a bit confusing that you can use other products besides MS owned products with a console since you own a 360. But its pretty great to have alot of options when chosing what kind of perphierals you want to buy :) And not only that but that jabra works with my cell phone aswell :) Knocked two birds out with one stone actually.

Cool. I was however just pointing out to the TC that there was a wireless headset and it's not too bad looking is it.

Also he never mention XBL vision with video chat. That camera works well on a PC and everyone comments on Skype on how much clearer it is in comarison to any others they have seen.

I like the 360 periferals. I own 2 guitars, the steering wheel, camera, headsets and Hori stick.

Hmm, Free online play or Free Headset? Dang hard choice.

Also my bluetooth works great with the ps3, so don't know whats happened to yours.

Also I like my Momo Logitech that I bought 5 years ago to race NR2003 on the pc that works great aswell with the ps3. Once again no additional cost since I already had it laying around :).

Guys you can talk and make excuses for the 360's hardware but it is not the arguement that lemmings need to have. Stick to the games argument since its based solely on oppinions of critics. And not on facts such as hardware, and features between the 2 systems.

I'm done, moving on to greener pastures.

So basically all you done is mak up littled gripes with the 360 and then claim the PS3 is better for it. Maybe it is best that you go. I happen to have both a PS3 and a 360 so I know you are full of it ok? The only people that say the PS3 voice chat is better is PS3 fanboys.

The points in the initial post do an excellent job of summing up where most PS3 owners priorities are at.

People are forgetting these extra features/blu-ray etc. on the PS3 delayed it to market and bumped the price up considerabley. This is why it is in last place. If you feel this was a worthwhile sacrafice then more power to ya.

And also I had a 360 for a week, and sent it back to the store. I also couldn't hear a word on the free headset for the 360. I wasn't able to talk on gears online. And the whole time me and my buddy played gears coop, I kept having to say what? To finally just acting as if I heard what he was talking about. But that was my experience.

But Heterix you are pretty cool, keep up the good work your doing. But don't lead them astray, keep the lemmings focused.

The PS3-the perfect console when you want to purchase things you don't need.

This is where you don't make sense. You don'tneed to play games in general, dude. You don't "need" Xbox, Playstation or anything Nintendo. Don't freak out or anything when i say this but, your heart could possibly (continue) to beat without playing video games everyday. Nerds act like gaming is all there is to life. If you don't need a PS3, why in the hell do you NEED a 360?
