You'll have tons of accessories for your avatar and Home and sony will keep adding more periodically

AgentA-Mi6

I just looked and couldn't find anything on it. If you could provide a link, it would help.

Adding more, but wouldn't you have to assume that most of them will cost money? I am sure some will be free, but most will probably cost some money. Paying for a virtual chair is as bad as paying for a gamer picture or theme for the 360.

Not some MANY and more will be constantly added for free do your research

I looked around the web and couldn't find anything saying this. A link would be nice.

This is amazing, why are all the Xbox fanboys saying "Well at least we don't have to walk to somebodies house! We just go to our friends list!" PSN also has a friends list and mail, and even regular email since it has a web browser...

Not for everyone...

AgentA-Mi6

I really don't understand that. How is it not easy to use, to just be able to log on, see all your friends there with a press of the button, nothing else to load, no other options to chose, its all right there. Is it as fun and environmental as Home? No of course not that was never the purpose. Not easy enough for everyone to use? Then I ask this; how could it possibly be any easier to use? Turn on 360, hit the home button, and BAM there are my friends. Tell me how exactly Microsoft could streamline that any further?

It's all they've got left :D

Next they'll come up with, "Well at least we get to pay for our service!"

It should be a huge blow to XBL but the hardcore Xbox fans won't think so. They'll just be a little jealous on the inside but then they will say "Xbox Live is WAY better because I have to pay for it!" It's just how most of them work.wallpaper42

First off what is there to be jealeous about, second, you don't have to pay a dime to use the friends list, messaging and other features of XBL, only online play. I am constantly talking to friends through live or sharing messages and they do not have gold.

The HOME demo shows some features and once it's ready for release it could be a lot more than we would expect it to be. And some of the extras I think could be gotten by obtaining certain trophes in different games. These extras could be earned as a free bonus for accomplishments of a game. Also the different rooms in your HOME is simular to a menu but there seperated in a virtual room instead of a tab (that may be able to arrange to individual taste). And the fact that it's free for the most part will be a hudge selling point to the masses.

goodlay

So walking around and finding someones house is easier than logging on and looking at your friends list to see whos on?

Aparently some people think it's more difficult to, wait let me check...

...

move your analogue stick down 2wice and press the a button as soon as the dashboard shows up.

I don't know how much simpler than that it can get :/

I could be wrong about this, but I don't think Home still unifies the entire online service like Xbox Live does. I haven't been keeping up with Home, so if I'm wrong could someone let me know?

I see Home being a massive and overall flop. People will be gah gah at first, then realize that it's actually nothing more than a waste of time, and move on to playing games. And when it comes to playing games, Xbox Live still is winning, although PlayStation Network is a MASSIVE improvement. Home will not take off to the heights you're saying, trust me, and I'm a PlayStation fan.

With Ps Home around the corner Xlive is in grave danger if not already dead,Ps Virtual home is probably the most innovative idea in the history of gaming a massive 3D Virtual interactionspace for Play Station users absolutely free of charge(For the basic suscription) will most likely be the last nail in coffin for the "charge for everything XLive" , Its obvious that millions of gamers all over the globe will be attracted by this feature and worse yet (for Ms) many users of their paid online service will probably consider switching sides if not immediately do so without hesitation , beyond the reasonable doubt PShome destabilizes the competition between the 2 online gaming services on favor to the Ps3 , Xbox Live Self-Manufactured downfall approaches ? Bloody Hell!

It something other consoles don't have. People who favor that console are going to hype it, plain and simple. But it does go both ways, since those who favor other consoles will bash Home.

(And to answer your question, nothing really.)

Tell this to the people who purchase every rendition of the sims over and over again, it seems though that home just in the taste of some people...some people just don't want to bother with that and get Right down to the Friends lists and game play. There is also a feature like this on the Home, you don't HAVE to go outside walk around make a party just bring up your (PSP) display and choose Friend list to see who is on and all that jazz everything else is just extras. Personally I don't see why everyone is attacking it, maybe it's because of fear that it may proove to be more than a novelty, or maybe it's just that it does not appeal to everyone. I think Gamespot is a pretty bad forum for impressions on Home wich is directed at Casual gamers who like the sparkle of a well polished 3D world they can talk to thier friends in, and mostly hardcore gamers you find here are mostly shy from that kind of stuff and would rather jump right into the game with there buddies and get to owning newbs heh.

Home may not be on my #1 greatest things to happen list, but I don't think it can do any harm only good for the PS3 and the PSN, some aspects also interest me. Thats my 2 cents.

its funny to see ppl argue without knowing what the hell their talking about. Home is not even direct competition to Live Its Live vs PSN. Home is an asset (Part) of PSN. and whats with all the fanboyism? if home was on the 360, u ppl would be hipying it like crazy, and i bet most of you would say its the greatest thing ever. (while the sony fanboys would say its garbage, just like u little nerds are doing)

I am pretty sure you have to pay to access certain extraareas.

Nothing like that has been anounced. The only thing Sony said we'd have to pay for is certain clothing/bigger or different appartments/rooms/furnishings for your house.

But everything else is free. Which includes the basic apartment, enough furniture to furnish your "space", and enough clothing options to keep the basic gamer happy. It seems the purchasable mini transactions are mainly for those that plan on spending more time in Home than in games/whatever.

But there will also be unlockable costumes/etc, mostly based on games I think.

Anyway, Everything the average gamer could want (and more) comes free with the Home package.

So on one handCOWS complain about how live milks you for game content, but are happy you can buy a virtual TV in PS3's home, that doesn't enhance any of your games, or extends them?? Home will be cool I think and give the PS3's PSN network functionallity some character, and don't forget sony had evercrack, so they know how to make stuff like this work. However don't hate on the other consoles becuse they make you pay for content...

in dark age of Camelot(an mmo in case anyone doesn't know) you could buy a house and have your friends come and "drink" stuff together and they could see my trophies on the wall from the stuff i killed, it was cool but after a while its not so great and its not amazing like sony is trying to make it out to be its been done before in mmos and personally i dint really like it, this of course is a little more in-depth but its basically the same thing.

I think home will be a nice feature to improve the PS community....but I dont think its really gonna change the games themselves...

except- I think what home can do better then XBL is with the PSN version of Achievements...which can be used to buy stuff in home....which is a huge step up from just being points....

I have zero interest in Home.  I can join games perfectly well with a menu, and anything vaguely similar to MySpace is utterly disinteresting (I log into my MySpace about once a month, if that).

Sony needs to stop trying to reinvetn the wheel, almost everyone will use home like find out its a drag and just use menus. Would you everytime you want to switch the channel on the tv load something similar to home walk around, select the channel and then watch the show or just go to the guide. Sure its cool but its not practical and you really need to get a life if you feel the need to hang around in a virtual sim.

Home: you walk around and talk.

Xbox Live: You can play games, talk, message, and off your profile.

So I say no.

DuDisNow

Then you don't know what Home is at all. You can play games, including arcade games for free. Pool, bowling, etc. Great for hanging with friends after playing some Resistance. You can also go to the theater to watch some features, trailers, live events (E3 could come to HOME next year), and some user-created content. Also, you can jump into a room of games, talk with multiple people, and do a lot of other things not yet announced.

You Sony fanboys have yet to be able to answer this one very very simple question.

How does HOME makes the online game I'm playing better? How is Resistance online w/HOME better than Resistance online.

Yet again, Sony is putting money into things other than must-have games.

I like the idea of Home, but i consider it to be a moderately unimportant feature. I don't want to walk around in a second life game, I want to conveniently play games and talk to my friends. Home doesn't seem to make that as much easier as I had wanted it to be...

Maybe I'm not understanding the whole concept of HOME but I find it pretty stupid. I just want to join servers and play a la XBL and PC gaming. I can't imagine me trying to play online on PC and XBL and having to transverse some virtual world to see achievments, trophies, ect. All that stuff would be much better and easily suited if it was accessed quickly by a menu based system.

It sounds more like a chore to me then an actual online play service. I'm not trying to walk around and meet people. I'm trying to sit down, log in, and whoop some *** online.

I find it funny how much lemmings love online gaming and their XBL and yet they say HOME is dumb.

I want you to counter this.

This is the newest feature in HOME:

in HOME you can invite your friends then you play your game with them, YOUR GAME, they don't have it, they just got invited, only you have it, wither in your HDD or on disk, just like in real life when you invite your friends to play with you in your home.

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/21601.html

When HOME comes out, there will be PS3 fan unions and may be we will see PS3 haters in 3D chatting with us, hell may be there will be SW. Do you like chatting this way or HOME's way?

I think the future of the internet will be like this, all in 3D, you browse the internet with your avatar, go download music or see GS latest score all in virtual world( you will see it in vrtual TV may be), so don't tell me HOME is not innovative.

I think socializing with people isn't bad.

BTW you must pay for XBL to chat, invite etc.If you don't pay you can't download anything. The funny thing you have everything, the hardware( the server),the game and the funny thing that you play via P2P and yet you pay to play.

Sorry but IMO XBL > Home. But hey, that's just me. You can think what you want to think.

The funny thing you have everything, the hardware( the server),the game and the funny thing that you play via P2P and yet you pay to play.

would you reall want to spend all that time in a virtual world just to get a game of lets say motorstorm going? wouldent you rather have a fast and easy interface that does all that?

and peer 2 peer means that all the games will be online and wont be shut down like metal gear solid 3 online

All I wanted to point out that I don't have to buy the game to play it online, do you understand now?

and Peer 2 Peer means FREE, it is free service and you must pay for it, and who said PS3 online isn't P2P...oh wait a sec, you comparing PS2 online to next-gen, that is very clever.

"Virtual home is probably the most innovative idea in the history of gaming "

Now i know you clearly are not serious about this whole thread by such a stupid comment!

You honestly think Home doesn't look cool at all? Designing your own place with anything you want. Walking around and seeing if anybody else wants to start a party on Resistance. And Home is going to be awesome for clans! It's just like how Guild Wars has Guild Halls only it will be about 10x better.

Yellow_Rose

You Sony fanboys have yet to be able to answer this one very very simple question.

How does HOME makes the online game I'm playing better? How is Resistance online w/HOME better than Resistance online.

Home allows you to have a central meeting place for your friends, cross game invites or w/e. It's mostly trivial if all you really want to do is play resistance online. Then again, so are all the XBL services (please...achievements? really...). The only thing that matters is dedicated servers i guess...

Quit lying, kid. All those things you mentioned are totally free with XBL Silver.
