[QUOTE="goodlay"][QUOTE="SillyManimal"][QUOTE="goodlay"]Your predictions in the past have been quite ridiculous. Home is just like making a Mii, then you just go around and socialize and have a house and what not, this is going to get old ridiculously fast. It doesn't have any depth like the Sims did, its just something to distract PSN users.
D_Znuhtz
You have no idea what you are talkign about, Home is not a dumbed down version of the sims, it's an online gaming service provider, meaning you don't have to walk around and chat you can go straight to playing online games.
People know your facts.
Ok im really sorry, I shouldn't have messed with you.
Thats great, I already knew all of that, so don't question my knowledge. Thats great, you can go straight to playing online games, thats completely new, what a feature. Were talking about the avatar and the social aspect of Home, building a character and giving it a home and such. I just don't see the advantage Home has over Live, when a friend comes on it notifies you, and if you want to chat with someone you can send them a notice, I just think Live is much better than Home.
When did you try Home?
I was talking about Xbox Live, when I was talking about the notification and the friends list.
Home takes you completely out of the experience.... Live serves to supplement gaming, home intrudes upon it....wolverine4262Home was designed as new form of interaction for gamers , you'll be able to meet new online-buddies to play with and stuff in very entertaining way , what so bad about it its even FREE!

The basic service is free, so what? Who is going to pay for virtual clothes and virtual furniture, this is lamer than Miis. You have yet to describe one reason why Home will kill Xbox Live.
Edit: Well if it does become successful it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something like this becoming popular, Myspace FTL :(

Can't you people do your research before you come here, at least try to look like you know what you are talking about.
There will be things you can buy and there are things that will be free.
Why does it have to kill anything? Even if it becomes an equally great service, it's still gonna be worthmore since it's gonna be free.

Home, is something people may use in between waiting for a game to come out, frankly... The real big diff between the 2 is that the minute I boot up my 360, Live tells me everything I want to know, where as Home is a seperate service within the PSN....What SOny really outta do is get some basic features that live has in the PSN directly, instead of jumping ahead and doing something like Home... BTW, for all I know, Home will be great... Have fun with that, I guess... Ill actually be playing my console... :P

Home can Messege,Talk,Join Online games,Play games. PSnetwork is going to be hooked up to it so it will replace Lobbys(or atleast give a second choice). Right now its 50K invite only beta Testers in europe(DAMN YOU!). Home is going to eat XBL. Hope MS updates it to everyone using Halo avatars then it will eat Home.
Lol, look, I had one of the most positive things to say about it and that was even using the word "lame" in the description.I can only hope that Home is one of those things that sound really lame in theory but when you try it out you actually like it. Stringer kind of killed the idea for me when the very first thing I saw was him being quoted as saying it's just like myspace.
I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and an open mind until I am actually there.

yeah...sure, home is a good concept, even if it kinda feeds off second life, but it won't dent lives popularitymlbslugger86PsHome will hurt paid Xlive in a bigger degree than you have cosidered
I love AgentA-Mi6's posts. I've never seen anyone so skilled at baseless accusations, massive lies, and over glorification.
"XBL is in grave danger is not already dead."Approximately 6 million users. I know man! They are on the brink!
"Virtual home is probably the most innovative idea in the history of gaming"In the entire history... that simply not true. It's a good idea, but not 100 original and innovative. It's been done dude.
"Its obvious that millions of gamers all over the globe will be attracted by this feature and worse yet (for Ms) many users of their paid online service will probably consider switching sides if not immediately do so without hesitation"It's been my experience on LIVE that people with a 360/live and no PS3, don't give a **** about Home or PSN. Thats why they have 360/LIVE and no PS3. Makes sense doesn't it?
I'll never be the half of what Yo_Foo was but now moving on , You re not considering the big percentage of RRODed 360 users that are getting reliable Ps3 with FREE online instead of another xbox nor the fact that the 6 millions wont make any difference In ms losses out of the Xbox Branch to help ms to invest more in it so they can compete with Home.AgentA-Mi6
It might just be me but I think PSN should compete with Xbox Live before Home even has a chance......but like I said it could be just me.

How? What functionality does it have that XBL doesn't? Media sharing? Live blogging? Those are cool. What else?
Does it really have functional cross-game invites? If I'm already in a game, can I just go right into Home without exiting my game?
I mean... can someone bullet point its features for me?
In and of itself, Home offers a nice optional improvement over bare PSN. But it's hardly a threat to Live at all.
You show me the figures indicating this "big percentage" of Red Ringed 360 owners who switched to PS3 and you'll have something. And in addition show me the number of PS3 owners migrating to 360. If the latter is lower then the former I'll admit you havea point. But until some bored souls compiles the statistics all you have to go on is what you think will happen.
As for the second part of your post about LIVE subscriber numbers. I couldn't understand what you were saying.
[QUOTE="Private_Vegas"] As for the second part of your post about LIVE subscriber numbers. I couldn't understand what you were saying. AgentA-Mi6I apologize, I was trying to say that a 6 million userbase wont be enough to cover Ms losses out of the xbox Branch so Ms wont be able to invest in Live as much as they'll need if they want to counter Home's inminent boom with a new live feature
Perhaps, but again, I'm skeptical of the huge XBL losses you are predicting. Even so i don't think MS will try to counter Home with it's own 3D chat application. It doesn't really see like something MS will be willing to invest in at all. All will be revealed when the Home bombshell hits.
Also, 6 million users is nothing to spit at. Especially if theXBL Gold fee is really pure profit as some people claim. And lets face it, not eveyone can have World of Warcraft number.
[QUOTE="AgentA-Mi6"]i doubt people would pay 600 dollars to do something they can already do 100 times better in real life ...With Ps Home around the corner Xlive is in grave danger if not already dead,Ps Virtual home is probably the most innovative idea in the history of gaming a massive 3D Virtual interactionspace for Play Station users absolutely free of charge(For the basic suscription) will most likely be the last nail in coffin for the "charge for everything XLive" , Its obvious that millions of gamers all over the globe will be attracted by this feature and worse yet (for Ms) many users of their paid online service will probably consider switching sides if not immediately do so without hesitation , beyond the reasonable doubt PShome destabilizes the competition between the 2 online gaming services on favor to the Ps3 , Xbox Live Self-Manufactured downfall approaches ? people WANT TO PLAY GAMES... its called a GAME CONSOLE not a virtual-walk around-watch virtual bands- console
yeah thats what i was thinking wouldnt it take a bit longer to get into games and stuff
and idont really talk to my XBL firends all that much
Home does everything XBL does. Except two differences
1. Home is 3D
2. You have to pay for XBL
Home in a nutshell is XBL but it's free and it's in 3D. Pretty simple.
Maybe I'm not understanding the whole concept of HOME but I find it pretty stupid. I just want to join servers and play a la XBL and PC gaming. I can't imagine me trying to play online on PC and XBL and having to transverse some virtual world to see achievments, trophies, ect. All that stuff would be much better and easily suited if it was accessed quickly by a menu based system.
It sounds more like a chore to me then an actual online play service. I'm not trying to walk around and meet people. I'm trying to sit down, log in, and whoop some *** online.
Blackbond
OWNED!
You dont have to walk everywhere. Do research first.
No..Doesn't interest me in the least bit..,In fact I'm pretty sure I wont even try it.Heil68
Home= XBL, you need to use it.
Home is a virtual world where you can meet peoplevirtually instead of traveling thousands of miles just to play with them. Users can customize their profiles, their character physical appearance, and you can pretty much go around it anyway you want it (bikes, skateboards, cars) and go to conventions(online gamings). You actually attend online gamings in one world where you don't have to sign in and out of an online gaming.
For example, I'm playing Warhawk now and I want to switch to UT3, i can just virtually get out of that convention and walk my virtual character out and go to the UT3 convention. All I gotta do is switch gaming discs. It also benefits people to see their families and friends in long distance virtually. You can actually talk to your buddies and invite 'em to an online game, that is, if they have a game otherwise they can't.
My prediction is that, when Home comes out by the time Haze and UT3 is released, you'll be seeing virtual people online walkin' around going back and forth to each conventions.
As far as being impressed, this is what i called the Real next-gen.

Though Home will offer a more decent competition to Xbox Live, XBL is all too established already to be "killed" all of a sudden by Home so saying it will deliver a killing blow is a little exaggerated

 Sure, keep telling yourself that. Home looks neat but everyone hyping it is a little silly. That would be like lemmings hyping system updates. They are nice features and cool options but to declare supremacy with 3d avatars is silly. I will probably check home out for a quick sec before playing a GAME, the reason I bought a PS3.
Here's whats funny. Most are downing Home because they don't think gamers will want to see achievements of other gamers. That, "Who wants to go all the way to another gamer's pad to see another gamer's stuff?"
Well, this is nowhere near what Home does but does give you an indication of how people will want to show off and see what others have done: http://www.easportsworld.com/
This is an EA Sports site where gamers upload their game footage highlights or in-game snapshots. there are a lot of people sharing in there for this type of thing not to be popular.

It is a cool feature but to declare a console is better than the other purely based on this is just plain silly. I think it is a cool option but if the PS3 doesn't start pumping games out, Home will be a ghost town.

dhjohns, some days are good for you and some not so much. Today, I would say, not so much for you. First, the TC wasn't claiming one console better than the other. He was saying Home will be a major blow to Live. So, slow down and read a little closer.

 Thanks for the pep talk. I was actually referring to the TC's original comments about crushing XBL and then saw people in this thread went on to say this puts PS3 over the top. This is where my comments originated from. Home is nice but I really don't understand all the hype about Home. Nice feature but that is it. Simply adding home (and no one knows what features will be implemented) does not push PSN past XBL. It doesn't. Also, I know games are coming out for the PS3, thanks I have some pre-ordered; however, my point was that I would rather have more games to play than home. Sorry to be complex dub, but the world isn't black or white to me (or rather Sony and the rest as you see it). I can still see problems with a system I own and enjoy. :D
