Sony needs to stop trying to reinvetn the wheel, almost everyone will use home like find out its a drag and just use menus. Would you everytime you want to switch the channel on the tv load something similar to home walk around, select the channel and then watch the show or just go to the guide. Sure its cool but its not practical and you really need to get a life if you feel the need to hang around in a virtual sim.Igwababa
First off, Sony almost NEVER tries to reinvent the wheel. Look at sixaxis, rumble, joystick...all of those were ideas taken from other companies. Second, considering the addictiveness of the sims, and to a certain extent, most MMO's, I think i'm gonna say MOST people will use home the way Sony intended. If you've played an MMO, you've probably noticed that alot of people just sit around towns and socialize sometimes. They just want to take it easy while they wait for their group or sell stuff on auction houses and they socialize in the town. Sure they could always try and kill stuff to make money and be "productive" but most will just bum around town, doing stupid dances and /emotions. People WILL hang around home when they're waiting for friends to play a game, or when they're sick of a game, they may hang around after just to socialize.
Finally, if you think hanging around a virtual sim for a while means someone needs to get a life, you've fundamentally misunderstood the appeal of movies, video games, and many tv shows. People want to get caught up in something to forget about their problems in real life, at least for a while. They want to get caught up to feel emotions and excitement they wouldn't feel in real life, at least not on demand. Home is really no different than just another form of escape. It's almost like its own MMO.
