Some of who? I have read every comment in this thread and don't recall one person who agreed with the hacker.I love hearing how some of you say "Oh I agree with the hacker, I should have total control over my own console I bought!" "This is Sony's fault!".

In what way does he think the outcome of all of this will help him?ferret-gamerMaybe he's suicidal
Yea, gamers should show them how to get one I'm sure. makes no sense, gaming is a hobby..like a sport or movies...reading..etc. If you balance well that is. Hackers have what purpose besides entertaining there selfish needes and causing others misery...![QUOTE="Rage010101"]

I have no idea what is going on.
Wasn't the PS3 just cracked wide open? So why are they still reverse engineering the hypervisor? What is their goal and what would the consequences be if/when they succeed? If it helps others in the community then why hasn't he already published this IDA database? Thought these hackers were more collaborative types.
what an idiot. acting like what he's doing is right...lol. A E-hero. Tuff man can ruin everyone else experience just to benefit his own. soapandbubblesGranted he does come off a bit like an attention seeking jerkface, they have bought the thing and should be free to modify it however they wish as it is their property. The problem begins when they make that stuff public and the irredeemable *****oles of the internet start looking for ways to pirate and cheat and destroy and in turn make that stuff public.
So yeah, in the end if it's a choice between:
A. Having online games ruined by cheaters and opening up the platform to piracy.
B. People being unable to run their emulators or whatever it is they could do on a PC already.
Then I'm going with B so god damned hard. I have nothing against the idea of homebrew, but as long as these huge problems come attached I'd rather it wasn't a thing.
I don't really understand the obsession with turning everything into a PC. Just buy another one of those and hook it up to your TV. There, problem solved. Or what am I not getting?
I mean, you buy a product to use it for its intended purpose right? You wouldn't buy a pair of scissors when you intend to mow the lawn.
LOL This is so awesome. I want it released though :) Even though what he is doing is super manly, I would advise him to get some body armor, and some guns... gas mask too lol. Sony isn't the one goign to attack him, it's gona be stu000pid fanboiz.

Hackers are not stupid and they don't work alone either. One of them fall and another appear, like roaches. First it was just geohot now look how many hackers are working together toward the same goal... And u know what the goal is right? Make Sony mad and in the process we the consumer are getting screwed.
Well thank you for attempting to ruin my and millions of others experience and dont giving a ****.
I would **** slap this clown myself if i had the chance.

ALSO, if people were awesome and just play pc, no problems here, cause we have something called adminabuze... which can work both ways.
the funny thing is that all this hacking stuff started because of the removal of the otherOS. If you watch the presentation of FailOverflow about the PS3 exploit you'll see that the PS3 wasn't that secure which mean that it didn't get hacked earlier cus the hackers didn't have any interest in it. When Geohot was looking into certain exploit within the PS3 through Linux on the otherOS it wasn't to hack the PS3 itself but to let Linux have full access to the GPU, CPU and Ram so the console could have all the functions of a fully functional PC with Linux.
The otherOS and the actual PS3 have 2 different boot procedures so, hacking the console through the OtherOS wouldn't have affected the PS3 as a gaming console with piracy and that other hacking stuff and I think this is why the hackers are so pissed at Sony. The removal of the OtherOS was completely unnecessary and pointless and because of that Sony now have much bigger problems in their hands. If that guy TC mentioned is speaking the truth then that means that soon the PS3 will be 100% hacked just like the PsP... And it all started cus of one stupid decision by Sony, how ironic.

WRONG Homebrew and funstuff, gr8 for consumers. Only reason I would buy wud be for linux, cause it is also known as NOGAEMSBOX.Sony should have realized that removing the features, while only angering a small portion of their user base, that portion they did anger happens to be the type that installs linux on their playstations.the funny thing is that all this hacking stuff started because of the removal of the otherOS. Graf_chokolo, famous for a multitude of decryption payloads on the PS3, has warned Sony to back off. Earlier today, several sites were issued Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) notices, ordering them to stop hosting several famous PS3 dev's projects. Sites such as GitHub complied with the order, and removed projects being worked on by coders Kakarotoks, Graf_Chokolo, and Kmeaw.
In response to these actions, Graf_Chokolo gave Sony an ultimatum earlier today, over on XorLoser's blog. He stated that if Sony was to continue such tactics, that he will publish his IDA database, for the PS3's Hypervisor and Hypervisor processes. What this means, is that reverse engineering the hypervisor would immediately become much easier for other developers using IDA Pro Disassembler. IDA Pro is a popular tool, commonly used in reverse engineering software.killzonexbox
he's next. he better delete everything off his computer now that he doens't want them to see.
Excuse me, but does anyone even know the nationality of this individual. It may well be that the person is foreign and living in a country where copyrights aren't strongly enforced, meaning there may actually be very little that Sony can do against the guy since he may already know how to slip the proverbial noose.
I'm getting sick of these nutjobs doing what they want, even if those stuff do get released I hope Sony will destroy him somehow. Like, you can't just go around doing whatever you want and not face any consequences (or well up until now...) so they better get in trouble.
Also on your link I found this great comment:
"Well if sony didn't make the PS3 then no one would have been able to hack it, so who is the bad guy here eh? Sound like sony to me,"

No, that cant be serious :P
Too bad he doesn't live in Iran, Sony could execute him and charge his family for the price of the bullet.

I agree. I hope sony releases an update that detects unauthorized master keys when a person goes on PSN. Anyway, they already kinda started this.
the hacker knows what he is doing is wrong. so now he is black mailing sony? damn hackersGraf_chokolo, famous for a multitude of decryption payloads on the PS3, has warned Sony to back off. That stuff about payloads and hypervisors doesn't mean much to me, what exactly did he do? And what would this IDA database be used for if he released it?ManicAcein laymans terms he is threatening to make the PS3 easier to hack if Sony doesn't do what he wants
