Best ever? Ps2 and SNES are a tie. Everything else not even close.
I will say that the DS is the best handheld ever though.

[QUOTE="PannicAtack"]That's like saying you only watch "modern movies" or listen to "modern music." That's a very poor way to look at an art form.AnnoyedDragon
He's a consumer.
We are all consumers; but there are gamers and then there are consumers. Consumers buy into the whole disposable gaming culture, nothing is of long term value. It's just consumed, disposed of; and then they want the next big thing. Retail has built itself around this mentality, hence the encouraging of trading old games in for new.
Personally I keep hold of all my games, but backwards compatibility isn't a problem for me.
Games are an art form, or at least they should be. Same with films, literature, and music. If it's truly great, age shouldn't be a problem.[QUOTE="grizzlybear1"]No. An old film might look technically worse than a new film, but that doesn't mean Transformers 2 is better than Rear Window. Great old games still play well today. That's why Starcraft is still on store shelves after ten years. Deus Ex is also an old game, but it's still highly esteemed, and I got it fairly recently, even though it's technically dated. No, no its not. Games are different becaus ethey are interactive and when you play the best games old games seem worse. I have no time forold games that are poor by todays standards.
Totally different to films and music....
Lame comparision matey.
PannicAtack
Thats why PS3 is the best console ever, I dont have time to play old games.
Ooooh i disagree games arnt art they can have art in them or be artistic but by its nature a game is not art.

Not really I just want to play the best games. Dont label me like that.

You just defined what differentiates between a good or bad game as being generations.
Yeh i dont care about last gen games anymore. I only play the best modern games.
grizzlybear1
Therefore your definition of what is best is simply what is the most recent, hence why I called you a disposable gamer.
You are only interested in what's new and don't appreciate games outside of their tech.
Or maybe they are i suppose they are created artisticley.
But still a film doesnt age as badly as games.

Seriosuley look new games develop new addictive qualities with online gaming the games have massive replay value and are more fun for longer this is becasue they have been better developed over time. Thats why new games have the edge, COMPETETIVE ONLINE MULTIPLAYER . I APPRECIATE GAMEPLAY.

Quake 3 has some of the best online multiplayer ever made, even by today's standards. It's over ten years old. New game=/=better game. And im less off a consumer than most of you. I dont have MW2 orU2 becasue im wating for price drops.
The games doesnthave to be brandnew just quality. Imcurrently playing Warhawk ('07) Killzone 2 ('09) FIFa 09 ('08 ) Soul Calibur 4 ('08 ) SW Force Unleashed Ultimate Sith Edition ('09) so im not just playing the very latest games. And my games are far from disposable have an incredible colection of PS3 games.

Quake 3 has some of the best online multiplayer ever made, even by today's standards. It's over ten years old. New game=/=better game. Indeed. Once I get my computer back up, I'm gonna play some QuakeLive. In the old days you at least got a list to compare features, or some link to the technical specifications for the almighty Cell CPU. Now you get this. Boo!!!
No. Quake. There's an entire convention devoted to competitive multiplayer shooters. And it's named after freaking Quake.Lol quake try Killzone 2 dudess

I'm sure you felt exactly the same last generation, but then as time went by they didn't feed your eye candy fix.
I'm sure many of these online concepts are new to you because you are a console gamer, they have been available for a long time elsewhere.

Or I could actually be educated.
Firstly, Quake is a PC series, n00b.
Secondly, the only one trolling here is you.
And thirdly, in the grand scheme of shooters, and before the likes of Quake, Unreal, Counter Strike, etc, Killzone 2 is like the straw man before the hurricane.

You really are missing out. There's some great games out there that have yet to be equaled, and a lot of them are not on PS3 or from this gen. But, play whatever makes you happy. No, it's not. No one who has actually played Quake 3, UT 99 or 2004, and Counter Strike would say something like that. You obviously haven't played them. I suppose you'll be telling me that KZ2's story is better than Half-Life's next.Killzone 2 is better than quake, counter-strike and unreal. Ive played them all.
grizzlybear1
What makes you think i started this gen? Iowned Gameboy, PS1, N64, PC, PS2 Xbox, now PS3 so I have played the most thebiggest games on each.
Ps3 is my console of choice becasue ti is a lot better than all of those.

I own every console from the last 3 gens (this one included) save PS1. I know how to control a console shooter. The fact of the matter is, KZ2 will never be as good as the games I listed, because they had much more impact, took more skill, and generally did more for the industry. @Pannic Well, yes, I meant Half-Life 2. :P My mistake.Yeh i dont have time to playold games becasue I have a Ps3 and there are loads current gen games. You didn't say you didn't have time to play older games earlier, you said you didn't care about them. Now at a later point in the conversation you decide to mention you are under time restraints? Sounds like a excuse to me, we can always go back and read what you said earlier.

Well, I don't really care what you think. Fact is, I own 'em. That's funny... they're putting Quake 3 on Xbox Live and people are excited. Not to mention it's free to play online now and it has a lot of players. So no, people wouldn't. And it's not. Killzone 2 will be all but forgotten about next console cycle. Yeah, I don't recall QuakeLive being "laughed at."The PS3 has a crap controller and it's exclusive games are underwhelmingNerdjathe same crap for 16 years, it was cool in 1995, when most of fanboys in SW has like 1 year old.
