PS3 suffers RPG MELTDOWN. 360 achieves RPG GREATNESS.

The real honest truth here is the 360 is the current RPG KING. And there is no reason to say otherwise. Sure PS3 will have some RPG's. And yes most will opt out to use old faithful FF13 in 2014 or whenever it comes out 09/10 i guess at the earliest.

But clearly the 360 has been the leader in RPG's this gen. And seems to be ready to defend that crown for several more years to come.

I'll list many many titles if requested. Other wise only a brainwashed in denial fanboy would argue other wise.

And honestly it annoys the heck out of me, I bought a PS3 because the PS2 pumped out obscure JRPG's almost monthly that I couldn't get enough of, and PS3 is yet to give me one true RPG that is exclusive to it.

DS is close, if not better, though.

Many more to come for 360, eg Tales of Vesperia, Infinte Undiscovery, Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey series so they could pull back in the lead.

360 vs PS3? right now is Folklore for the PS3 and blue dragon lost odyssey and eternal sonata for the 360

You're right though, PS3 has had nothing so far.. The only RPG I've enjoyed on the PS3 that I couldn't on my 360 is Folklore, I just think it's underrated..

The gamers who have played L.O. to completion almost universally agree, the jrpg is sweet and was scored at least a full point below what we thought the game deserved.

That said, FF13 is on every jrpg fans wanted list so, we shall see in what - late 2009 for N.A. ?

Agreed. LO at worst should be a 8.5. And did it not get proven that the reviewer reviewed a early build of the game. And that GS was even considering having him review it again with the final game? They did not though. None the less. Any FF fan should be playing LO. It's a great jrpg.

There were more AAA RPGs for the PS2 then there were RPGs on the Xbox probably.

From the title and first post, I thought this was supposed to be about current gen systems.

If you want to fall back on last gen because the PS3 doesn't have much, then .... uh... ok. Whatever helps you sleep at night.

It is the king right now but that's not saying much. It's the king by default really. It's not that the 360 has a ton of great RPG's, it's just that the PS3 has practically none. It's looking pretty poor for RPG fans this generation unless something really changes.Ibacai

PS2 was king of RPG's because it had FF series exclusive. At least in my eyes it was.

Having mediocre RPGs is all fine and good but I don't play those games. I'll stick with the best of the RPG's and quite frankly it's usually a FF game.

Just like X360 is suddenly the FPS king because of Halo.......well the same can be said of PS3 being the RPG king the moment FF13 is released.

The 360 has the most RPG's and the PS3 only has 2 which are multiplat at the moment outside of Japan. The bad thing is 360 JRPG's are cliche and the same JRPG's I've been playing for decades while WKC's and FFXIII will probably be different then the norm so the PS3 will most likely win there.

Western RPG's on the other hand will always go to the 360 as they just fit with Microsoft's background.

and really the 360 isn't king of jrpgs compared to PS3 because it has some mediocre ones? well then i guess the fact that about 90% of the ps2 jrpgs we're trash means nothing right? but thats the way of the ps2 they threw as much mud at the wall till some stuck which is why about 90% of the games on that system we're down right horrible and then the other 10% were good-great-amazing.

P.S i really cannot understand how any one considers final fantasy 7-12 quality...they sucked badly they got good reviews simply because they we're named final fantasy.

This only further attest that Sony fanboys are desperate and only have the PS2 to fall back on . Even when they are not even supposed to be. It's

And also i did not necessarily say RPG's on 360 are all great. I inplied that the 360 has reached greatness in the amount of current and the amount on the way for the 360. And how sadly the PS3 level of RPG's has fallen flat on it's ass.

I'm not caliming it should of been AAA. All i'm saying is it is cleary about a full 1.0 below what it should of been scored.
