PS4 is now 29.3 Million units shipped worldwide

Sony have revealed that they have shipped over 29.3 Million units worldwide:

It's pretty easy to get a cut. It's called "common stock". I get a "cut" of Xbox One sales, via capital gains and quarterly dividend payments by owning MSFT in my brokerage account.

If you follow the market at all, you could easily have doubled your initial investment in Sony (SNE).

I've always been interested in buying common stock but at the same time i hear its risky since stocks change all the time

The PS4's performance is laudatory. With that said, I want to point out that 25 million units sold worldwide is the last update we got over a month ago, so this update isn't an update as much as it is a repetition. My guess is that sales had started to slow down a bit, which makes sense as the console market as a whole is in a state of minor decline, and is also evident in the fact that Sony cut the price of the PS4.

I imagine this will make it pick up the pace again.

2016 should be a massive one though, honestly its the year where Last Guardian AND Final Fantasy 15 release at! (maybe lol)

Depends on the stocks and industries. Some sectors (materials, industrials) tend to be more volatile than others (consumer staples, utilities)

Big time, blue chips tend to be fairly stable, especially if you buy and hold dividend paying stocks and reinvest those dividends over a long period of time. Yeah, they're subject to market swings, but if you hold them, and increase your positions, during market downturns, it pays out over the long run.

You ready to start arguing over nothing, that's how easy it starts in here by assuming. I'm looking forward to Horizon, Last Guardian and Street Fighter. Kinda luck warm on Uncharted although I'll probably still get it but not on my must have list for games next year. Plus, they didn't say anything about a new God of War for 2016, they haven't even shown an announcement trailer yet.

I don't mess with individual stocks in "junk" status. I'm not ballsy enough to be a "value" investor. I only invest in dividend paying blue chips in my brokerage account. I'm sure the international mutual funds in my retirement accounts probably hold Sony though.

I don't invest because I am a bit ignorant about the whole thing....it would be an interesting thing to get in to.

@chikenfriedrice: You really should. I wouldn't recommend individual stocks unless you somewhat closely follow the market. I've got a few plays that I like. For example, buying big airline stocks while oil is high (because expensive fuel drives down their profits) because the airline stocks tend to be cheap, then flipping the other way when oil is low (sell airlines high and buy the oil majors like Chevron, Exxon low), etc.

Best bet is ETFs if you don't want to do a bunch of research. They're like mutual funds, but you can buy them outside of retirement accounts. The key is to buy cheap, Index funds (Vanguard), buy them at regular intervals (look up "dollar cost averaging"), and reinvest dividend payments.

So it seems :)

Can't wait to see MS's report on how they sold more than 25 Million by the end of the holiday! Oh wait they're not discussing numbers anymore. We'll never know if @nyadc was right....

3DS is a portable console. And no sir again, that would be Vita.

I wouldn't be surprised if the xbox one reached 20 million by the end of this year or sometime early next year.

The sales started to slow down apparently.

Some cows were forecasting over 30M sold by the end of thr year.

Enjoyed the hell out of mine. Currently it's the Rocket League machine but I've owned a lot of games for it, lots more than I did for my PS3 at this time. Really like what I have with it and the Vita.

That's the last official statement, not what they're actually at now, hence the "over 25 million". Fucking Dualshockers.

25.3 million was back in June. We haven't been given any other figures since. This is just a restatement.

That wasn't a report. Next official numbers will be given out tomorrow. Over 25 million comes from the fact those were the last numbers given out.

Man, that is a lot of PS4s meanwhile MS continues to hide their numbers out of embarrassment.

It definitely will sell 30 million by year end, but barely most likely, but this will depend on what the official report says tommorrow.
