PSN IS NOT Down!

PSN is down apparently for the Phat PS3 users. Is this an update gone wrong or some testing being done with the new SNEP services?

EDIT: PSN is fine and is not affecteed by this issue. Individual PS3's are having date problems which are affecting their abilities to connect to PSN. The problem should self correct or require a small firmware update.

Sounds like a mass hack of the PSN network. Even the Playstation site is down for me...

Symptoms are:

Date reset to 1999

Corrupted themes

Unable to start trophy enable games

can't log into PSN

Could be an attack but why only the phat PS3's if the slims are hooked up to the same network running the same OS?

How come every other PS3 update messes up the PS3?

I expect this topic to be Xbot infested by the morning.

The consensus is that it either has to do with it being a leap year and/or the recent changes done to the Playstation website possibly having to do with PSN.

My PS3 phat went on PSN just fine this morning, but it refuses to now.

Just one of those issues that'll blow over in a day or two.

i just checked mine, i have a phat ps3 and i'm from canada, It is just fine, but i won't put it online just in case

Oh well, I'm sure it'll be fixed by next tuesday. (The next time that I'll be using my PS3.)

I don't think it's to do with PSN because it's happening to people without their PS3s hooked up to the internet aswell. This same issue happened last year at the exact same time, which gives even more credibility to the "Leap Year" theory.

I don't mind if I can't connect, because that happens every now and then, but it's just weird how it corrupts Trophies and you can't launch games. I'm pretty sure or hoping this will be fixed within hours.
