Righhhhtttt tell yourself that.. I've owned EVERY SYSTEM... that includes the crappy 3DO even... and the xbox360 has to be the crappiest made. It's been reported nearly 70% have had the RROD.. you get what you pay for!

LunaDravo

Those are some nice numbers coming from the world of your imagination.. Check the latest stats. Either way, it's pretty sad you have to bring this into a thread that has nothing to do with it, insecure much.

I've owned THREE 360's, two of them broke within a year... I did a quick search... and got these numbers.

Last years failure rate on current gen systems:

Xbox360: 54.5%
PS3 10.6%
Wii 6.7%

yeah they've "really" corrected the problem.

Well show the link for you 70% number. Better yet show the high failure rate of current 360s. And lol at the poll for 54%, seriously?!

hints:

try some inferences between PS2 and 360, and go see how bad the PS2 was at launch. Don't spew BS, mine is in my cabinet fully DRE'd.

Look at SquareTrade's study. Both of them. I like to think a major warranty company would know more than a mindless fanbot.

Not even comparable Xbox360 ignored the problem, they knew about this problem for years AFTER the release. PS2's failure rate was NEVER over 15% unlike the 360 which is still over that mark.

Funny that lemmings are so quick to jump on this when XBL has been down(unscheduled) more times and for longer then PSN ever has. Yet they claim that you get what you pay for....Sorry, but I don't understand this logic.

I've owned a 60 gig since launch and PSN has only been down twice, this being one of those 2 times. Yes there's been some scheduled maintinence, but some lemmings have already ruled that out as counting towards downtime. And even in those cases it was only down a couple hours tops.

In any case, who cares if PSN is down. Watch a movie, read a book, play a different system, whatever. There's lots of stuff to do in this world other then play Playstation.

That's not good enough for you... CNET also checked into this claims... here is what they found.

"It's the story that never dies, which is ironic because that's exactly what Xbox 360s keep doing. The old "Red Ring of Death" thing has all but disappeared from the news, but CNET has followed up on a Game Informer study to determined that 60% of British consumers have faced the crimson beast.

1,128 gamers were polled in a survey, with 562 Xbox 360 owners, 473 PS3 owners and 591 Wii owners. The PS3 and Wii reported a 16% and 6% failure rate respectively. The 360's 60% completely and utterly dwarfs the other two systems. Even worse, 32% of that number said they've dealt with a crippled Xbox twice. A further 19% stated that their 360 had died on them three times.

We all know how bad the 360 failure rate is, but this really hammers home how pathetic the whole situation has become. When the percentage of 360s that died three times is higher than the percentage of PS3s that died once, something truly ridiculous has happened."

This is how ALL surveys in the better part of the world are conducted. Yet you probably would have no problem with me saying 1/3 americans has AIDS(or whatever the studies show), now would you?

And even if you're calling those number crap, you probably still believe the Square Trade numbers which are of a similarily small percentage of the userbase AND they don't even include RROD's in their warranties. Meaning RROD's are NOT part of Square Trades failure rate numbers, meaning even without RROD the 360 still has a higher fail rate then the PS3.

Now how about we get back on topic here.

562 Xbox 360 owners is not a valid sample size. Please refrain from posting pointless stuff like this in the future because it clutters the topic.

Square Trade nailed it on the head... they said they died at around 25% HOWEVER.. that does not take in account the systems REPORTED to Microsoft directly.

If you have a problem with a product, 7/10 will deal directly with the provider.

Come again? odd did i say sued? No I said TAKEN TO COURT. Heres a lesson, I could sue you right now for any thing I wanted. I could sue you for breathing my air If I found a lawyer willing to take the case...and then the judge could throw the case out or the lawyer could say no more. That is called..NOT GOING TO COURT. Where as Sony was taken to court and instead of chancing they'd lose *and they would have* they settled out of court...A judge saw the case before him, Sony chose to settle it out of court once proceedings started. Come back when you know a bit about Law.

"When looking at over 500 units purchased in 2009, fewer than 1% of customers have reported a RROD error as of Aug 2009"

Wait a second. So 5000 people surveyed doesn't count, but 500 consoles does? And their recent 15% number was not including RROD. That's what I meant. They may deal with RROD but I would imagine they only do it outside of MS's 3 year waranties and there's no point for a 3rd party company to deal with a warranty when MS will send a rufurb 100% free of charge.

That sucks. Good thing I'm not playing video games tonight.

My brother told me that on some PS3's you can't even play offline now. No clue how that makes sense.

[QUOTE="slvrraven9"][QUOTE="smartcriminal"] Yeah there is no difference between Live and PSN. If anything i experienced more lag in Live then PSNFragTycoon

unlikely. or mabey thats just your connection. anyway i experience absolutely NO lag on the 360 whatsoever.

see, now how is someone gonna take you serious with a statement like that? Dont get all CLiffyB on us.

Live has lag just like every other network.

yep psn and xbox live both have lag.

I've tried this, I disconnected and it still wont let me play something about some sort of information that psn sent to the ps3 at the time is keeping it from doing what it can do *play video games* I don't want to chance formating my harddrive to find out if that would fix the problem.

So it was a hack, I saw a message on the Playstation site about demanding Flash and Javascript. Just kind of hard to believe someone would go through all this trouble to make the request.

http://us.playstation.com/PS3/dearplaystation/

is down as well.

XBL has more lag on some games. Those being the games that PSN has servers for...IF any multiplats this gen have had servers only on the PS3 version. In any case, ANYONE who says they have a completely lag free game, or system, is a liar. Even with servers in the equation there's still going to be lag or latency.

What really sucks is more and more PSN games have been moving to a P2P setup with servers only there to grab certain info. Basically, the exact same thing as XBL.

[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"] sony ignored the ps2 problems and they existed till the slim and after...oh and sony was taken to court...microsoft hasn't been taken to court...hmmmmWilliamRLBaker

you're hilarious... they've been sued MANY times over for the RROD... google it.. easy find.

Come again? odd did i say sued? No I said TAKEN TO COURT. Heres a lesson, I could sue you right now for any thing I wanted. I could sue you for breathing my air If I found a lawyer willing to take the case...and then the judge could throw the case out or the lawyer could say no more. That is called..NOT GOING TO COURT. Where as Sony was taken to court and instead of chancing they'd lose *and they would have* they settled out of court...A judge saw the case before him, Sony chose to settle it out of court once proceedings started. Come back when you know a bit about Law.

Again googling is your FRIEND, they've been "taken" to court for system failures. I even saw they had a Wikipedia page DEDICATED to it. Pretty impressive really. Microsoft has had everything class action law suits to being "taken" to court.

It can't be a hack and PS3's that ARE NOT EVEN PLUGGED IN TO THE NET are being affected.

because it costs alot of money to run a server, and maintain it and keep it up for lots of people. *and please dont use the term p2p there is no such thing as a p2p server unless you mean 2 players like in an RTS..its client server model.*

but how is it a hack when people who havent had their ps3 connected to the internet, experiencing the same problem? It has to be some coding that went horribly wrong on this date.

Come back when you have a basic understanding of taken to court. Taken to court means you actually have a judge preside over your case. Microsoft concerning 360 has never had a judge preside over any class action lawsuit against them. Sony on the otherhand has. Come back when you have more then propaganda.

[QUOTE="xX-Incubus-Xx"]Square Trade doesn't deal with RROD warranties. Any problem they reported in their percentages were outside the RROD issue. Try again Havoc.

xX-Incubus-Xx

Square trade does record problems from RRODs, they have even reported data specificly about RRODs in the past.

I have no ideal what your talking about for the 500 people versus 500. All of Square Trades warranty data I have ever seen includes ROOD data, as well as the Warranty Square Trade offers costs money, so obviously people are going to use that warranty when problems arise if they are spending money on it.

Player to Player where one system hosts the game. And yes XBL has servers there to grab specific information. Just like PS3 games do. This is how Killzone 2 was setup. I dunno where everyone got the idea the game had dedicated servers. Anyways I don't understand the technical jargain. I just understand that this is how they have it setup...
