Haven't made a thread in system wars town in a while, but i've got exams to prepare for and i'll be damned if i'm not going to procrastinate for four hours before i get started.
First, i'll start with an observation.
If you're a console owner, odds are you've been screwed, and will continue to get screwed by the company which owns that platform for the foreseeable future. You may choose to live with this, or dismiss it as no big deal, but the fact remains the same; you consistently get the rough end of a deal when you choose a console. Examples?
+ Microsoft releasing a patch which blocks all the third party storage devices you already paid for. Allowing you to use USB sticks instead of crazy over-priced hard drives, but then limiting the amount of storage said USB stick can have, forcing you to either juggle your downloadable content at all times or shell out for one of their official HDDs.
+ Sony selling you a console with a series of features and then gradually removing them via firmware updates. Charging you to have a console repaired when their own firmware update broke it. Over-priced accessories.
+ Nintendo. Over-priced console. Over-priced games. Releasing new add-ons for the Wii Mote to make it do the things it was supposed to do in the first place. Weak online support.
+ And then of course, no matter what console you buy, you pay nearly TWICE the price for a new game if you get it on a console as opposed to getting it on the PC.
Conclusions?
PC gamers aren't held to ransom by a platform holder. You build your own rig. It's yours, nobody elses. No BS warranties. No firmware updates. No official accessories. You can do whatever the heck you want with it. Want a new avatar? Hell no you dont have to pay for it. PC gaming is the platform of doing whatever the heck you want/need to do to enjoy as many games as possible, not sitting back and waiting for Microsoft or Sony to deliver what they feel should suitably entertain you.
You think Jack Bauer goes home and plays his games on a console? Hells no.
