I have both and I agree with what you said. But, owning only PC is not the absolute best choice for all because there are many quality titles that are consoles exclusive. Also, owning a PC is not the end of the line because drivers are still an issue with some games (like the Witcher with ATI drivers) and there is still a possibility for a driver update to screw one of your parts. Not to forget to mention the annoying DRM which is increasingly taking over games..

In the end neither is the perfect choice for everyone, consoles are much easier to setup and play with compared to PC which has to be tweaked according to ones preferences yet it gives you an endless variety of options with maximum horse power.

Just don't use any beta drivers, stick with the WHQL ones. Those 196.75 are beta drivers and it warns you that they aren't exactly tested properly yet.

To be honest, i was using 197.45 whql and my pc randomly froze when playing games, before thati was using the previous ones, 196.25 and fallout 3 had terrible pefomance and blue screens with nv4dsp.dll so i switched to 182 to play games properly with no problems at all.

Seriously what the hell? Nvidia forgot how to make drivers?

I got the 197.45 drivers yesterday. I havent had any problems, then again I havent really had problems with any drivers over the last year, I must be lucky. :D

[QUOTE="legol1"]yeah pc are awesome because of invasive DRM and 6 month late port ,and by the way where is nhl 2010 pc i use to buy this game for my pc .jun_aka_pekto

Trying to find sports games on the PC is like trying to find a flight sim on consoles.

nah..there are plenty of sport games on PC...heck,...one big sports subgenre (sport managers) is bassicaly PC exclusive. It's definitly a genre that's overall better on consoles, but PC still has plenty of strenght in it, unlike consoles in flight sims

Better comparision would be: trying to find sport games on PC is like trying to find racing sims on consoles

My EVGA graphics card has a lifetime warranty. I'm pretty sure that beats out your console warranty.

Not if your CPU or RAM fail it doesn't. With a game console, the whole thing is under warranty, not just one or two parts. I've had 2 nVidia cards fail on me and 1GB RAM card. Plus I had several viruses kill my Windows XP O/S where I had to reinstall XP twice. PC's can be a real headache. If you don't know what you're doing (luckily I do) even more of a pain.

No.. No you don't if your getting viruses..

Well, well, well. Why does this argument sound familiar? Oh, that's right. PC gamers HARP ON ABOUT IT EVERY OTHER DAY. Why? Do you feel threatened? Is WoW not enough? Are the MMOs suffocating you?

I like the PC and console for different reasons. The PC has power. This is fact. It has raw power behind it. Depending on how you feel, it also has a keyboard and mouse.

What does a console have? Reliability, ease, and cost. The console is cheaper than most computers (this is fact; you can argue that you can get computers cheaper than a $1000 but you have to dig for those and more often than not they are underpowered for current and future games). You can pop in a game and expect it to work. There is no, unless you want to on the 360 or have to for certain titles on the PS3, installation process. Even then, it's more about storage than actually tinkering with settings and making sure your specs match up. Any game released for that console will work for that console. There is no need to upgrade your graphics card or sound card or whatever.

PC games are cheaper, though. Well, maybe not for much longer. Star Craft 2, for instance, is going to be $60 isn't it? But for that reliability and ease, the console will lack in power. And then the console will usually have a bigger screen than a computer. IE the TV.

It all comes down to what you want. I want both so I have both and I don't care for petty politics.

AncientDozer

Umm gaming computers are not that expensive. I already posted a simple build that is not hard to make or find the parts for. This build cost a little over 500 USD with shipping add. This build could play Crysis at near max settings at 1680x1050 and it could play almost every game at max settings.

I bet you have a computer of your own so you should add in the cost of that to your console because with a gaming computer we get to play games and have the ability to use the computer for things that are almost necessary these days.

Consoles games have their bugs and glitches too and they do sometimes have to install things. PC games have faster load times which will free up more time over when comparing it to the console.

Also you can plug a computer up to just about any tv screen so it too can have a big screen. I prefer a smaller screen because I like sitting close to my lcd screen which has a color palette that looks much better than any large tv.

Most Pc games are still cheap just look at the Steam PC game deals where you can pick up a lot of games cheap.

Yah most of my hardware has a lifetime warranty.

My friend sent in his 8800gtx for a replacement and they sent him back a gtx275.

Basically you can get upgraded for free.

I sent in my PSU and they replaced it with a much better PSU.

The company I usually buy my PSUs and GPUs from is BFG tech.

Domobomb

My friend sent in his GTX280, which was suffering the PSOD, and received a GTX285. :o

I sent an old 7950GT that finally burnt out back to EVGA about 6 months ago, and they sent me back a 9800GTX - They even paid return shipping! :D

It'd be like sending a dead PS2 you've used for 5 years back to Sony, and them sending you a new PS3 for free.

Goddamn, that's amazing lol. I might disconnect my fan, overclock my 4850 so it melts, send it back and hope for a 5xxx series card. :P

They will most likely be able to tell when you forcefully overheated the card so they wouldn't replace it.

Plus they will send you the closest card they have in stock and the 4850 is not too old so most likely you will just get another 4850.

The 8800 series is 3 years old now and most of the cards are out of stock as replacements which is why they will usually replace it with something between a gtx 260 and a gtx 280.

Console games have much longer load times.

Oblivion took so long to load on the consoles but it loads almost instantly on a PC.

So the loading times adds up to be much longer than a PC's install time for a game.

lol... I dunno about that last statement, although I do know my full installs go faster than PS3's partial installs.

my pc loads oblivion in literally 1 1/2 seconds i can make a vid if you really want

Any PC which is designed to play current gen games will install a game in 5 minutes or less. I remember playing MGS4, and I had to wait like 5-10 minutes for it to install, whilst showing my friend some of my favorite scenes. :|

Dataleak

How many PC systems out there that are design for gaming that has been used in the market?

Hell, ANY PC made in the last 3 years, which is equipped with a decent dual core CPU will install a 5gig game in 5 minutes max. :|

ehm...i have a 6 year old comp and it can play crysis @ 720 smoothly and i have NOT UPGRADED AT ALL. My newer comp annihilates crysis tho ;p

6 years ago the most state-of-the-art GPU available was a 6800 Ultra. Assuming you dished out the $400-500 for one those back then, you'd still need some seriously low settings to get Crysis to run smoothly.

It's pushing it but it is still possible.

A 6800 ultra can play it on low settings just fine.

The ice levels would tear that rig a new one, and the PS3/360 versions of Crysis 2 will be better looking than anything a 6800 Ultra can do.

[QUOTE="alexside1"]Your forgot that PC gamers have to put up with drm.xDimMaK

You forgot that console gamers do too. In fact, your entire platform is just one big DRM machine.

DRM on the Consoles is used entirely to prevent pirated copies from running. DRM on the PC on the other hand is flakey enough to sometimes prevent LEGITIMATE games from running properly as well, or worse, cause damage or other unwanted side effects to the PC,like act like malware(*cough*Starforce*cough*SonyRootkit*cough*).
