And I'm not sure what that opinion has to do with what I say.Good, that means you're not buying the game...so we don't expect to see you in any threads after release. You would look really bad griping about the game when all you've done is run a demo and failed...bet you died a lot too.:lol:Just finished the demo, the game is one of the worst i have played in years

So you agree it would be silly to post in a post-release thread since you're not buying the game? You will be called out on it.skyrim is a role playing game for crying out loud, don't you guys have enough imagination to role play that it has good combat?
i mean damn, use the block every once in awhile, parry a bit, use a potion that ups one handed, sure you don't need to do any of those things but come on, show a little initiative once in awhile.
help it help you. help it..... help you....
you can play the demo and see how laughable the game is right now. I already played the demo, lol. i went all the way to the gate of a big city, there was an army setting camp there. i made the entire army fight me at the same time, and i won. with the starter gear. basically they couldn't hit me because daggers have like 5 thousand hits and all of them flinch the enemy. there was a special attack i learned, but it was way too useless, since it took time to charge, caused almost no damage, and was a pain to aim. i also murdered the whole first village, except for the respawinng characters. i also killed a woman mid-speech, she kept talking for about a minute after she died. i don't think we need to wait for the final game to judge the combat.[QUOTE="BrunoBRS"][QUOTE="mitu123"]
Better than Dark Souls's combat? We'll see when the game releases, Dark Souls has amazing combat.

I don't think it feels better than darksouls. While darksouls may not be as fast paced or arcadey. DS has a real feel of heft behind the weapons that I enjoy.
IGN are full of **** as usual, except for their analysis on Skyrim I agree with that.
I uninstalled the demo after one playthrough...mitu123Not me. I'm keeping it on my drive until I install the full game. I want to make sure, idk if the game will check for the presence of the demo for those extra items.

A few things in the demo dissapointed me (but then again I dont take demos that serious, especially rpg demos), but the combat was much better then I expected.
I hope the story is decent and that there are some really good characters that you meet on top of the combat though ;)

Yeah those daggers are seirously overpowered to the point that the combat just isn't fun. It's just a tedious button masher with those things and the only good thing the daggers are for is the awesome stealth kills. At least in Skyrim their is some kind of higher difficulty than Amalur. For Example: I doubt anyone can kill a frost troll with a steel dagger and some standard armour, ie. just some regular hide or steel armour of sorts. Whilst in Amalur I can just kill a @#$%ing rock troll with my starting daggers no sweat.

Yeah, but this is NORMAL difficulty and it felt EXTREMELY easy.
Besides, Skyrim can be set on hard and it's still incredibly easy so there's that to consider.

Many games do that now. Gears of War 3's Normal mode is made for babies, and it's not even the easiest option. If you've played shooters before you're supposed to play on Hardcore.
I think it might be a bit early to judge the combat in amalur. Even the difference in fun and complexity from level 1 to level 3 was pretty significant, so I wouldn't be surprised if the combat does end up being pretty good with higher level characters.
im late to the thread but are we hating on skyrim now? well it was a matter of time since people love to hate popular things...

It's been happening since the game came out, dude. I can't wait for May because that will be 6 months after the game was released and we get to hear feedback from System Wars.
seriously every time a game becomes popular there appears the retarded trolls, omg i don't like, so its overrated!
Skyrim has the weakest combat of any WRPG to come out in the last couple years. That's not trolling it's fact.seriously every time a game becomes popular there appears the retarded trolls, omg i don't like, so its overrated!

Heck Ken Rolston (lead game designer for Morrowind and Oblivion) will be the first to tell you that the combat is pretty terrible and this game he can finally say has very good combat.

the combat was fine (not great) but fine, the game had a lot more going on to compensate for that, no game is perfect, as for amalur, yes it probably has better combat, i've played the demo and liked it.

I'd say less than fine... It felt like a chore, hold down click to charge, right click to block etc. Yes the game was about a lot more but I think combat shouldn't be so overlooked when it comes to a GOTY game like Skyrim.[QUOTE="Goyoshi12"][QUOTE="Ringx55"] Skyrim has the weakest combat of any WRPG to come out in the last couple years. All of those are really lackluster. You'd think in 5 years of making Skyrim they could have invested more in the combat to make it a bit better. I mean really those features you listed are things that have been in games around Oblivion's time.Oblivion came out 5 years ago. Why does everyone forget it?

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic came out at the same time as Oblivion and completely demolished it, combat-wise. I remember heaps of threads back then hoping that the fifth Elder Scrolls game would have Dark Messiah's combat.
Five years on, and Skyrim just uses Oblivion's clunky combat with a few tweaks (and Oblivion's combat felt outdated five years ago). Sure, they borrowed Dark Messiah's execution kills, and added a second hand, etc...but the base combat is still the same.
I think there's a bit too much tension around here about the quality of Skyrim's combat.
It's okay. It's not the best part of the game, but it's not so awful it ruins it.

But not in the Elder Scrolls games.
[QUOTE="ronvalencia"]@Ringx55 I played the demo and it plays OK.Ringx55I wouldn't judge the game too much by the demo. It's from a build over 3 months old and EA insisted it be done by a third-party. I'd read the IGN review in progress to really hear what it's about :) I have marked the game on my Steam's wishlist.
One thing that still makes me laugh at Amalur is the "shield system". When I first got a shield, I thought there was some bug because I couldn't see my shield on my back when I put it on. But then I pressed the block button and I almost fell down laughing. Suddenly my character conjured a gigantic shield that was almost bigger than himself from thin air and when I stopped blocking it disappeared. I can use a shield even if I'm dual wielding daggers or have a two handed weapon. Doesn't make any sense.
Other things that I didn't like is the art style, voice acting, characters don't show any facial expressions during dialog (even Skyrim has some). Amalur reminds me a lot of Divinity 2 and D&D: Daggerdale. Divinity 2 is actually an ok game, but Daggerdale sucked.
LOL
I'm not even going to read the post. Comparing the combat in Skyrim to Kingdom of Amalur is like comparing Call of Duty and Super Mario 3D Land.
Yes, I've played the demo, was pretty impressed with the game.
I too played the demo and came away impressed. The skill trees are deep and you can create hybrid classes, combat its quick, fun, and precise with gorgeous environments.
I just wish it wasn't EA, and the crap they pull with online passes....argh!
