Exactly! That's the same as every multiplat. I'm not sure why we need a thread every time a multiplats resolution and framerate information comes out. And we sure as hell don't need a new thread every time a RUMORabout framerate and resolution hits social media.

Once again hypocrite do that on lemmings threads and stop single out cows,we need as many as they are make if you don't like it no one is forcing you to read them, just go to the xbox room were there is no comparison.

@chaplainDMK said:

It's actually about dev laziness, as in, it's absurd that one console would get 1080p 60fps and the other 720p 30fps. Even 1080p 30fps or 720p 60fps would be unacceptable tbh. The PS4 has superior hardware, but it doesn't have that much superior hardware.

But to be honest I wouldn't be surprised judging by the recommended PC specs for this game. It seems badly optimized to hell and back.

Exactly but some how because it is me making the thread it doesn't matter all they see is this.

Tormentos thread.

About the xbox one been 720p in a game.

= Troll thread..hahaha

@magicalclick said:

If they can reach Ryse render quality by doing 720p, I would be totally fine. The game looks last Gen at 1080p. It is just like playing high resolution hollow polygons. I understand people want to hype resolution, but, their render quality is poor.

Ryse look like that because is constricted and enclosed and heavily path guided game,Shadow of mordor is the complete opposite of ryse.

@tormentosIf this would be 720p it's not necessarily true for a lack of trying, they could be aiming for 60 FPS instead of 30. But as you said it could be that as well.

Come on man even i know 720p 30 FPS is to distant from 1080p 60FPS.

Yeah if the game is 60FPS on xbox one at 720p yeah that could be an engine issue mostly like Fox engine which apparently does defferred lighitng which if true would cause problems with ESRAM,i don't know if they are trying for 60FPS on xbox one,i just don't see the gap been picture now as reality something is not adding up.

Considering how many threads lems made last gen making fun of ps3 versions. This is basically payback and the lems are now getting a taste of their own medecine.

Quite funny. Then again cows made fun of lems paying for online and now they pay too.

LOL

Those threads were in retaliation to the countless cow threads claiming PS3 was going to demolish anything on the 360. That every game would ALWAYS look better. Either way it's such a lame excuse to post crap like this.

Cows always playing the victim.

My problem with the pic is that something feels wrong.

Apparently, the high VRAM usage is for the textures only, since shadows, lighting, etc, are running on high for his old card. So in theory, the 660 can indeed max out everything else.

When it comes to textures, it points out "ultra HD" texture pack which referes to 4K. Downsampling this at 1080p probably jumps the VRAM requirements. If i'm not mistaken, 4K tends to use 4GB. So maybe If you decide to run ultra textures on 4K resolution, you'll be fine

But that leaves console settings. Normally, they run on around high settings, with an ultra/very high option existing for PC.

In this case, consoles would probably have to be running at medium textures. Maybe the it needs 3GB because it's downsampling 1440p to 1080p? So in order to play the high textures, one needs to move on to 1440p resolution. I'm not sure.

it's far fetched IMO, and i don't believe it myself. The lastest itteration of GPUs have already move away from 1080p, but requiring 3GB for a jump to high in itself seems is quite large.

I can only imagine this is for future proofed textures.

SOM is an open games with tons of enemies on screen ultra quality textures mean ultra quality textures for everything so that would explain the high memory usage the same happen with Skyrim,7850 1GB were hit performance wise vs the 2GB models of the same card, when in other games like Crysis 3 there was no difference.

While open world games are heavy, it doens't justify 6GB. Wash Dogs required 3GB of VRAM for ultra textures, but was letter discovered that 2GB would run it, albeit, some degree of stuttering in some configurations. Same fixes were provided latter

Now you're telling me it needs that much just for high settings, with an insane 6GB for ultra? And why not 4 instead? Why would you need 6GB, even if using ultra HD textures?

And like i said, if 3GB are indeed true, than the console versions are using medium texture quality anyway.

No game needs 3GB of video memory to be maxed out at 1080p yet, and while requirements will certanly increase in the future, i don't see anything in SoM that needs to push those same requirements. Still, those are just the textures anyway.

I'm just curious to see the benchmarks before i buy the game

Well that is Watchdogs which is not using the same engine as SOM.

This should give you an example, the game would probably run will incur in a severe performance penalty.

Look at the difference from the 7850 1GB vs the 2GB version 33 frames per second on the same PC same CPU same GPU.

There is no way the PS4 is doing 1080p60 stable and the gap between the PS4 and Xbox One isn't so big where one can do 1080p60 and the other can only do 720p30.

Yeah that is what i am pointing, maybe both are 1080p but the PS4 is 60 xbox lock 30,or in the worse case scenario is 60FPS on both while been 720p on xbox one like it was the case with MGS5.

@tormentos: Ofcourse VRAM usage increased. i expect 4GB to becoem norm for future gens. But like i said, 2GB is still enough today to max games out.

You talked about the number of npcs on screen, which is fair, but what about Unity then? How mcuh si that gonna need?

Look, my issue with this is the 6 gig part. If it was like WD and wanted 3GB for ultra textures, i'd scoff it off. But asking for 6GB of VRAM for a texture jump is a joke.

Which cards actually have 6 gigs anyway? I can only think of few unique models and custom made ones, and ofcourse, the Titan series. But the thing is, the Titans get beaten or matched by the 780 TI OCed, even with the huge amount of memory. There's even 12 GB Titans.

So it's not a matter of better performing cards, but simply more memory. And speaking of Skyrim, if you install tons of texture mods, you're definitely gonna need alot of that.

Point is, 6GB of memory is overkill. Since this isn't reworking the ligthing or shadows display, and since even 4GB is enough for 4K resolution, why such a high amount of it? I betetr be seeing a big improvement.

That's what i don't get. The Evil Within i get, Shit optimization plus ID Tech5. This, i don't know man.

"Ultra HD" doesn't mean "4k", it just means "ultra high definition". Textures doesn't tie to a game's rendering resolution.

This. From reading this I would guess that it will be like some other games, Crysis 2 comes to mind, where you will have to download an additional texture pack and that is the Ultra setting, thus the Ultra HD moniker.

900p on Xbone confirmed tho still uncertain on the framerate, wouldn't be surprised if it's around the 30fps mark. It's rather embarrassing to see the Bone struggles at 900p while PS4 blitz it at 1080p/60.

Having watched a stream of the PS4 on Twitch, it was clearly 30fps. Unless Twitch capped me. Not sure where people are getting 60fps confirmations from.

All i could find was the IGN director quote. lol ign.

But i expected this. 900p on the bone, 1080p on the ps4, 30fps on both, most likely using high pre-sets, with texture quality set back to medium. Though, NeoGaf benchmarks are getting weird. I'm still trying to find out if 2GB can work on high sets, which seems correct, like WD.

I will run the game at 1440p completely maxed with ultra textures.

There was a user running it on a single GTX 970 and with Ultra he only got a 1-2 second stutter around every 40 minutes when loading another area.

That is pretty much what happens in an auto save scenario in a lot of games so It won't bug me.

Besides that he gets 60-70 fps at max settings which consoles are not running anywhere near.

Here's his vRAM usage on high.

Do not care. Picked it up for £20 on PC yesterday, so I'll be playing it at 1080p, 60FPS in a couple hours when it finishes downloading

exactly this.. I own one of the new consoles but the fact that you can get it for $20 less on PC and have it run and look better is just too hard to pass up.. I'm getting pretty sick of the console game bull shit.

Yeah, where is everyone getting this 1080p 60fps confirmation on PS4?

Come on, people. Just wait for the official announcement.

You are in the best place for it, in fact. As soon as it's confirmed I'm sure Eddie will run to his computer to write a full article covering this issue

900p 30FPS vs 1080p 60 would still be a quite rather large gap, maybe both are aiming for 30 or for 60 one 900p the other 1080p.

Supposedly the game was confirmed to be 1080p 60 FPS for PS4.

1080p 60 vs 900p 30 it to big of a gap.

I read some 2GB card were running high but not 60 FPS or close more like 30 FPS,which is probably a hit to performance from the low memory, like it happen on skyrim on the 7850 1GB.

Oh I'm in Canada, games are 69.99 here where it's 49.99 on steam so it's an easy choice for me.

In terms of this thread.. Yes we know tormento's to be a cow, but there's nothing saying he can't post a rumor.. If there was a rumor going around that the ps4 is running something 900p and 30fps there would be tons of lems posting about it, even if it was just a rumor.

I'm not usually one to support tormento's threads but I don't feel like he was telling us that it IS 100% 720p 30fps, Just letting us know the facts. Honestly it was this thread that got me to buy it on PC and save money so thanks for that I guess lol.

We know now it's 900p and 30fps but if its 1080p and 60fps on the ps4 that kind of jump in performance is just not acceptable as far as I'm concerned.. Microsoft should be a little embarrassed now if games need to be down graded this much to keep details on par with the PS4.. OR these dev's are awful at optimizing the system.. Dunno.

edit: I planned on getting this for the x1 just so everyone knows... I'm a little disappointed in the performance gap here.
