Just went through the GS video comparison... three times. Seriously, if cows are claiming some sort of graphics victory over the XBox One with this game, they really need to reevaluate their life's priorities. I stared at the main character, the ground, the trees and grass in the back ground - I saw no difference between the consoles. I'd bet $1k that if you gave a graphics-whore cow an PS4 controller that was jerry-rigged to work with a XB1, and he/she didn't know, that person would sing praises about the graphics (the opposite would be true as well).

Now cows are going to blow up every single screen 1k times over to show you the slight blur on a blade of grass. Look for the cow circle jerk incoming, especially from El Tormented.

By that lofty standard you have there, you must not have participated in that very same behavior from lemmings about a ton of games last gen. Namely Red Dead Redemption, because if you did that would be very hypocritical of you right now.

They look the same except the PC version looks a little hazy. The blacks look a little better on the x1 but there's not enough of a difference to pick a clear winner.

buh...buh....the PC is soooo much more POWAHFUL! lolololssss.....gawd. So glad I didn't waste beaucoup money on a gaming PC for it to be hazy. Buhhhh buhhh buhhh....gamespot staff is making the x1 look better than the PC. Bwaaaaaaaahahahahahahahaha!

PS3 and 360 games looked the same, too.

Although I did think that it was funny that they looked the same, and that in some cases the 360 version had better "specs", given the constant boasting by cows over "teh powah of teh cell".

Probably. But, it doesn't matter to me. I'd really like to see where there is any significant difference. Hell, I'd pretty much take any difference other than the slight lighting differences I saw. The PS4/Xb1 versions looked exactly the same to me.

I can see cows tout the next Uncharted or something like that (that game looks fantastic), but this? Really?

Dude, a 2GB mid range card is more than enough for the next year. Unified memory in the consoles isn't enough to counter the brute power of GPUs.

Ense why WD runs at 900p high 30fps on the PS4, and i can run it at 1080p ultra, including the ultra textures that require 3 VRAM. Stuttering was abit worse in that game, but nothign special

That is what you claim unless they are vastly superior they will suffer.

Yet This game with tons of enemies on screen and huge open world is 1080p over 30FPS.

Don't blame the PS4 for Ubisoft short comings it was downgraded on Pc as well.

The fact that the game need to be cap at 30 to get rid of the stuttering says it all that is what Rebellion did on xbox one to lower screen tearing on SE3 as well is call a trade off.

Now normally I don't do this, but i will make a 1 time exception and post a pic of the TV just to shut you up, but this will be the 1 and only time i do "picture proof" here. I'll post it later tonight when I'm home.

Completely and utter bullsh** upscaling doesn't add any pixels it just stretch, period and most TV don't upscale that one has a scaler which is the same sh** a GPU would use so again the end result is the same pixelated blur screen.

I have seen many shows upscale to 1080p and they look blurry.

Yeah you will post it latter when you go to best buy and take a picture sad liar..

The fact that you claim upscale add pixels is a joke, you don't know sh** about what your talking.

Dude i already proved you wrong in regards to upscaling, I already proved that a TV does do upscaling to 4k, now your damage controlling my TV before i even post a picture lol man you are an assclown. I've also been watching upscaled 4k content for months now and it doesn't look blurry at all. Looks much better then my 1080p TV i used to have for gaming. and you'll be able to tell its not in a best buy, come on man, now you just sound desperate

Upscaling does not improve the quality of a video feed. If anything it downgrades it. If your new 4K TV "looks" better than your old FHD TV most be because of other factors like color accuracy, contrast, etc...

Upscaling actually diminishes the quality since it consists in guessing for example were each pixel in a 720p image should go in a 1080p image, then it creates pixels that have a color that matches this approximation, but up to this day regardless of all the advancements in video scalers, that approximation is nothing more than a guess and the final image will have incorrect colors, so in the end your TV will be outputting colors that are far below the max quality your specific TV can produce compared to the raw video information that's inputted and that is what produces the "blurry" or "washed out" feel of upscaling.

Yeah watching that comparison video, I can't tell the difference at all. Looks to be another "should wait for the game to come out before blowing your load" scenario for the cows.

except it completely improves the quality. I love how all you people are assuming it doesn't when its a proven tech that has been around since 1080p came out. Do you realize how small a pixel is? can you really pick out 1 pixel being an "off color" out of the over 8 million pixels crammed into a 65 inch TV? hell KZ:SF used an interlace technique and nobody here noticed the difference one bit and up scaling is similar to interlacing.

Also at least you understand what it is, where tormentos thinks it just stretches the image lol

No you proved that a samsung 4K tv upscale the image.

Not all TV's do that i have 2 1080p and they don't neither, upscale is basically blowing up pixels to fit a target resolution, the simple fact that you don't even know this totally prove that you know sh** about this or that you own that TV.

GTFO with your fake TV still waiting for the screen..lol

lol no i'm pretty sure all 4k TVs do it, the cheaper ones just have shitty upscalers where the better ones like samsung have really good ones. And no it doesn't blow up, it adds pixels, there is a difference. 1080P TVs don't have upscalers but most BD players do have upscalers for DVDs to upscale them to 1080P i know mine does and watching a DVD on my 1080p TV was pretty much as good as watching a BD on it.

As far as the pic, have patience, its only 530PM for me and i'm still working, some of us have wives, kids, jobs etc and can't rush home to prove an internet idiot wrong right away lol. I said I'll post it tonight and it'll be up tonight. Then you can come up with another dumb excuse.

@tormentos: You should go to a Best Buy. The 4K lineup does an amazing job of up scaling to a "4Kish" picture. It's actually one of the major bullet points. The upscalers have a ton of hype behind them. They will show you a native 1080p image and then upscale it for comparison. I don't own a 4K tv but I have looked at them a few times. The upscale engines are pretty good.

I think that has to do with 1080p scaling linearly with 4K,rather than been a great scaler,i have seen 4K tv's and they look nice but 4k native does look way better, and upscaling 900p and 720p isn't a joke.

Don't encourage the troll just to go against me dude it make you look foolish, make a thread about the PS4 running in 4k scale as been equal to 4k native and see what you get here..

Have any of you actually tried playing an upscaled game on a 4k display? The input lag is unreal, at least on the Sony I played a PS4 on.

The only difference that is apparent between the three versions showed is adjustments to picture settings. Sad really, pc is so much more capable than a XBO lowest denominator.

Except that the console versions run at 30 fps, not 60...and the shadow and lighting quality is far superior on PC, not to mention the better antialiasing, anisotropic filtering, higher quality ambient occlusion, and more.

So you replay 6 times after i posted this

lol OMG you guys are so dumb. Newsflash. all 4k TVs have a built in upscaler and no upscaling isn't stretching.

FYI this is the TV i have

http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN65HU8550FXZA
UHD Upscaling delivers the complete UHD picture experience with a proprietary process including signal analysis, noise reduction, UHD upscaling and detail enhancement to seamlessly upconvert SD, HD or full HD content to UHD-level picture quality.
So @tormentos and @delta3074 Its said, especially with tormentos who already has 0 knowledge and everything he posts is copy and paste form elsewhere, wouldn't look into it before making those allegations. So now i wonder what lame comeback you guys will have

_____________

and none of them were to me where i proved you wrong. You just make yourself looks so bad everyday

Really please take some screen and post them here of your TV with a note with our names that is for starters.

Second any process that involves upscale mean blowing pixels you moron, the fact that you even debate this prove you know sh** about what your talking hurray i can play 4K on my TV because the TV upscale the image to 4k..Hermits am cry

The PS4 can run Tomb Raider and Sniper elite at more than 30 FPS on 4K...lol

Upscaling using a TV scaler is the same as using a console to scale 4K in the end you are blowing up pixels moron, the game wasn't design for 4K so yeah blur fest galore, what you are quoting there is a samsung add.lol

I have been an HDTV owner since the early 2000,and upscaling isn't the same as native just like DVD upscale isn't the same as blu-ray native.

Basically you are a silly lemming that can't admit it has weak hardware.

Show us your 4k TV..lol

So, what's the final resolution on Xboner?

I read day one patch to 1080p, I think even gamespot reported it. 1080p/30fps on both consoles, that 50% more powaaaaah

oh yeah you "read", must be true.

You interpret "read", like you want... I'm just stating facts, that I actually read 1080p/30fps... Sad cow is sad again? Did Sony raise the price of PS+ in your region?

Surely you must have proof ?

This is the first I've heard about any resolution-increasing patches for any console versions of Mordor.

I'll look it up, and edit this post.

"Despite the improvements, Xbox One version is still unable to match the resolution and frame rates of PS4 as some players have reported that PS4 version of the game is running at 1080p with 60fps, while the Xbox One version is at 720/900p with locked 30fps."

Lems got xboned yet again

Or this one

LOL

"If there’s one thing proven it’s that the game looks fantastic on PS4. Running at 1080p at an unlocked 60fps, the entire experience is smooth as butter"

"some have been able to get their hands on Xbox One copies of the game. Streams have been infrequently occurring in the past 24 hours and what we’ve been hearing from them isn’t good. There’s been multiple reports that the game runs at either 720p or 900p at a locked 30fps. We’re seeing reports of 900p (or sub-900p) more often than 720p, but there hasn’t yet been anybody reporting it runs higher than 900. More still, the consensus is that it doesn’t cross the 30fps line."

Any other source for this other than Gamespot, which managed to make the PC version look washed out?

Yeah. Um. Holy crap! If Gamespot is correct the game is 1080p on Xbox One with the patch. This kind of blows this thread up doesn't it? And makes quite a few people look foolish along the way.

Wow man calm down. I don't "encourage" trolls and have anything to gain by "going against you." I was just saying that I have seen the upscale demos at Best Buy and they look good. In no way am I saying it makes it look native 4K or anything crazy like that. So chill.

And a thread about PS4 games upscaled to 4K being equal to native 4K? That sounds like a thread you would make. And it would be about as accurate as this thread.

Day one patch 30/09

http://www.gamespot.com/videos/middle-earth-shadow-of-mordor-graphics-comparison/2300-6421635/

It clearly states in the beginning of the video PS4/Xbox One both 1080p 30fps.

This. @tormentos, what do you think of this? Granted, this is new news, and there is no way you could have known before.

Still, um... parity?

So since PS4 wins yet again, is it even worth bothering with mulit plats on Xbone if you have both?

The answer is obviously no unless a person has a strong controller preference. But how many people here own both? Hell, there are some that don't own either.

How this thread is not a flame thread for the fu**ing 100 time,in fact i have done nothing but defend the xbox one version of this game stating that if the game was 720p was because of the developers been lazy quote me once flaming the xbox for this game.

You still getting that this thread is about making fun of the xbox one you still wrong.

If the game is 1080p hurray but i never claimed it was 720p or started lol the xbone..or any sh** like that.

Parity there is not parity ,and it will never be because implying parity means that 1 consoles will improve graphically to over come a hardware deficiency while the other will improve nothing,.

You are a joke 7770 vs 7850OC there would never be parity unless the PS4 is hold back.

Now if the game is 1080p good for the xbox one, since even the 7770 can run it in 1080p,the only hold off on the xbox one was probably ESRAM.

1 - You completely missed the meaning of my post in the first quote. This thread was made based on a rumor. That rumor was first proven wrong a few days ago when people with the ability to count pixels began saying it was running at 900p. Thread over. But you didn't change the title then. Now Gamespot says the game runs at 1080p after a patch. Your rumor thread has then been obliterated.

I never said this was a flame thread. And I never said you were making fun of the Xbox One. Find a quote. I NEVER said any of those things. My issue was with you making a thread based on a rumor and calling devs lazy along the way. None of those things were ever based on facts. You don't see anything wrong with that?

2 - Now for the 2nd quote. The 4th sentence in that quote clearly states that I know native resolution is much better than an unscaled image.

This is an honest question. Can you read? If so, do you have problems with reading comprehension? Because you are not debating with me in your posts. You can't be. Because I am not saying the things you are defending.

I'm sorry I just had to say this but your sources and links are a damn joke. What players have noticed poor performance? Cows? Also can you provide hard proof or other more veritable sources that the ps4 version runs 1080/60? I think I'll wait to hear from DF even though going by DF these days you'd think they were on Sony's payroll. Still better than those websites you linked us to that look like they were created by pathetic playstation fanboys overnight. LOL GTFO.

Agreed. While more reliable than a rumor, we need to wait for DF. Remember the IGN Call of Duty Ghosts fiasco? I could see Gamespot doing something like that.

except it completely improves the quality.

They are assuming the "guess work" is always wrong. When in fact it may be correct enough to improve the image. A pixel can't be stretched. It's of fixed size on you screen. to stretch a pixel would be to actually stretch your monitor. When you resize an image, you are stretching it. some tools have an algorithm that will redraw the image instead of just stretching it. The correct way to think about up-scaling is to think of it as redrawing as opposed to taking a picture and actually stretching it. When you zoom into an image, and you notice a decrease in image fidelity, that's because the image is being stretched. The detail that was only taking up a few pixels is taking up a dozen pixels and the result is a loss in fidelity. Zooming and up-scaling are not the same thing.

This is why we're not seeing a huge diff on image fidelity for Mordor. The x1 upscaling is doing it's job very well.
