Replacing fun and beloved characters with politically correct ones.

They replaced a fun and unique world (of old Saint's row) with modern and contemporary.

I read politically correct, if you don't, that's fine by me and I can live with that.

I asked a very simple question about your modern and contemporary characters being politically correct as you have stated above. And I also wanted to know what is a modern and contemporary character?

Your last sentence implies that the characters are out of sync with the theme of the game. I haven't played it, nor do I know if this is true or not. Is the game of one time period and the characters are of another?

@Pedro: This isn't the SR I grew up and as a long-time fan, this new version isn't aiming for older fans like me. Political isn't the word, just not a very good game I hope it would be. I already address this issue in one of Ghost threads a few days/weeks ago.

never been a fan of the series, its not cool to say but ive always thought gta wipes the floor with them. at most it's a bored af test out on gamepass sort of game. flicking through the footage i cant stand games where enemies soak up a ton of shots to their unprotected head without dropping

@Pedro: the characters look and sound like hipsters. They aren't cool they seem forced. We got a DJ obsessed with kitchen appliances.. a female mechanic who is an art gallery fanatic?? Ok lol... Nothing wrong with a female mechanic (DMC5 did it right!).. but they have to also make her a fan of the fine arts. I've never met such mechanic lol.. and a black dude who is a larper enthusiast?? Who shoots foam bullets out in the desert??

Yeah I'd say these are modern contemporary characters, but not just that.. they suck. They suck Pedro.

And saints row is a game series focused around killing waves of people and cops...

And to start the game off with these lame ass characters complaining together about capitalism is the cherry on top 😂😂😂

You are skirting the question about modern and contemporary characters. I am not sure why. You stated that making the game with modern and contemporary characters is making the game politically correct. However, you have yet to explain what that actually means or translate to.

Making the game politically incorrect is political by your definition. If the issue is specifically politics, what politics are you referencing?

Removing nazis and communism from WW2 game is making a game that is not a WW2 game. How does politics fit into that scenario?

Which brings me to the second part of my statement, but both pedro and zarya are still tripping over the first part 🤷‍♂️

Why do you keep asking me to give SPECIFIC examples about Saints Row, no I didn't write the game, and I can only grab second hand experience as I'm not buying it.

My example is that Nazis and Communists no longer seem to belong in WW2 games either, because devs got all political.

A DJ can't be obsessed with kitchen appliances?

A mechanic cannot be into fine arts? (you have clearly never worked with artist)

How did DMC5 did the female mechanic right? Are there specific criteria that must be met for a female mechanic to be consider correct?

Black people cannot be into to LARP? (Live action role playing) I know a few folks who are into that stuff.🥴

You don't kill waves of people and cops in the game? Who do you kill then?

You commented about the game and I am asking for clarification on your comment which you have avoided. Your statement indicated that having these modern and contemporary characters made the game bad because they are more politically correct. That does not explain how and why the game is not good. Nor have you explain what is a modern and contemporary character. Using the word politics without context to the politics being reference is a very vague statement. What politics are the dev obsessed with?

Your WW2 analogy doesn't make any sense. A game that excludes or remove the existence of Nazis and Communist would not be a WW2 game. That scenario has nothing to do with the unspecified politics that you are referring to and it doesn't address your comment about Saints Row.

What makes it not a very good game?

I'm making more of a blank statement, but it also applies to the saints row team aswell.

I used the words "modern and contemporary" because those are the exact same the dev team used. Hence it is fitting to use them.

I have used examples, you just choose to ignore them.

The blanket statement should have some semblance of context, no?

If you are using the words, shouldn't you be expected to explain the application when you use them?

Sargentd's comments are ridicilous.

However the game allegedly has some anti-capitalist vibes, and the main cast has issues with college debt and such.

However, that is real small time stuff. And could be seen as simple things to make the cast more relatable to young adults, who played SR games as teens.

Lefties like yourself always seem to get confused when people refer to a game being political. Then they will blame everything else under the sun when it flops miserably. So I'll explain to you what most people mean. They are talking specifically about identity politics.

Nobody wants a game that looks like it was made with a diversity tool. The game looks like it was made for the low IQ morons of IG and Twitter and made to check off boxes. Most people don't want their characters in their games to look like the same cringe hipsters that review their games.

I forgot this garbage came out. It looked unappealing since the first trailer. I’ll add it to my PS+ library in six months only to never play it.

I'm center left, near the middle. A majority of my debates are on climate change, covid, legal, and qol. Almost all of my positions fall in line with peer reviewed studies or most Americans if it's more subjective. The fact you think that's far left is wrong.

I didn't say you said that. I was verbatim quoting what other gamers were complaining about.......since you literally told me they were complaining and I looked it up.

If you did, you already know the answer why it's not the return what makes SR a good fun game. Even @fedor said it perfectly, who is this aiming for? They're not political. It's just the original games were an over-the-top send up of gangster tropes about rising up in the streets. Now, they look like a bunch of zoomer/social media influencer types who style themselves after Fortnite, and it's the antithesis of what the original games were. They're goofy looking.

Now, the game that surrounds them is isn't good, and it's making it worse.

Anyway, after SR4 brought in space aliens, I think toning things down was the right move. Unfortunately, it looks like things were toned down too much. Maybe some DLC could bring a little crazy back, or maybe they should start over on a sequel that aims closer to SR3 levels of wacky hijinks.

Nope! I never found the games appealing. In fact, this game rarely popped up on the radar of games until recently because of "controversy".

Very sad that Volition ruined the Saints Row series. All we wanted is a Saints Row game that is similar to 1 and 2 but instead they gave us this mess of a game with douchey hipster characters that we didn't ask for.

The 1440p RTAO mode was declared the best way to play the game. 3-6 frames better on PS5. The 4k mode has like 1 fps more on X than the PS5 one, basically tied. Can't call that tiny on both fronts. More like a major advantage on one negligible on the other.

It's not major lol, the game looks like ass and is buggy as hell. Clearly in need of updates. Why did you make the claim "most impressive looking multiplat on the market atm." when the game looks so poor?

Here's a mod that just released, it looks like real life:

Cyberpunk 2077, Spiderman (multiplat), RDR2, AC Valhalla, Far Cry 6, HZD etc... If you start to include mods... Some of the most common gripes about this game is the graphics are poor, trash character models, and the city being empty.

I wouldnt mind something more akin to SR1 or 2, but as others have pointed out. I dont think this game is it. Every mission I have seen and even the town itself lacks the spirit of the first SR games.

The whole thing just feels so assembly line from footage I have seen. As if the devs themselves did not even wanna work on this.

Missions seem to be subpar, the world feels and looks empty and then there is the Ubisoft style repetition in side missions.

We really, honestly didn't need another open world game like this.

I know the original Saints Row took a lot of cues from San Andreas (also the other GTA games but mostly San Andreas) but it felt actually unique. It spawned a franchise and a fanbase.

This looks like a game that will be forgotten the next day (and it will be).

Forbidden West as well. And Ghost of Tsushima in my book, but I get if it doesn't count because of its heavily stylised visuals.

Bummer, was hoping it would deliver on the earlier games vibe.
