I wouldnt mind something more akin to SR1 or 2, but as others have pointed out. I dont think this game is it. Every mission I have seen and even the town itself lacks the spirit of the first SR games.
The whole thing just feels so assembly line from footage I have seen. As if the devs themselves did not even wanna work on this.
Missions seem to be subpar, the world feels and looks empty and then there is the Ubisoft style repetition in side missions.
We really, honestly didn't need another open world game like this.
I know the original Saints Row took a lot of cues from San Andreas (also the other GTA games but mostly San Andreas) but it felt actually unique. It spawned a franchise and a fanbase.
This looks like a game that will be forgotten the next day (and it will be).
Yup, the original was basically a more tongue in cheek GTA: San Andreas, and it worked really well for it. It got improved upon with SR2, but with 3 and 4 the series got increasingly flanderized. Now it went back to the more grounded feel of the first 2, but unfortunately forgot what made the originals worth it in the first place.
With this it felt like they tried going back to the outdated core, without understandign what made that core work in the first place. And the core is a decade and a half old besides.
