It mentions that diplomacy is "key" with the AI being very proactive - mentions breaking off relations though. It seems there is a literal Honour stat for your clan leader, affected by betrayal of allies and wot not. Seems like for the player at least, breaking alliances is a huge deal - civic unrest, diplomatic penalties across the board etc.
INTERESTING! at some point in the game when your power reaches a tipping point, all the clans unite to stop you, intended to prevent late game steam rollering explicitly. Missions still in, rewards can include military and civic "buffs" for a few turns.
AI is mentioned as improved from Empire, the reviewer claims the difficulty level does affect ai behaviour in battles, flanking etc. AI apparently also uses campaign map terrain features well, defends passes, camps on hills etc - no problems for the AI launching naval assaults. His "only" criticism with the AI is that when archers run out of ammo the AI is lax about sending them in to support melee (sounds like a pretty minor complaint to me) "Time will tell if Shogun 2 has worse sins to commit, but in the time Ive spent with it, the AI shows a marked improvement."
Very little detail given about sieges.
