Bring back the banana controller, or do something completely different.

I don't think they could use it; I know they can't use a similar D-Pad to Nintendo since they have a copyright on that design. They could make it similar but it can't be 100% exact.What... the cross D-Pad design? I could have sworn I've seen other companies use it for their controllers, be it consoles (SEGA used it for Dreamcast if I recall) or PC.Maybe they did I think the Dreamcast had a crossshaped D-Pad but it didn't function exactly like Nintendo's D-Pad so there wasn't any copyright infringement.[QUOTE="Nintendo_Ownes7"]
[QUOTE="nintendoboy16"] In function, it works well. But as I said before, I think the design is awful. I prefer the regular cross shaped D-Pad.nintendoboy16
They need to kill those god damned squishy triggers. Make the triggers like the 360''s triggers and you wont hear me complain ever again.
yes, that design has always been garbage.mems_1224
What he said. Maybe I won't have to buy a third party controller for once if they finally redesign it.
[QUOTE="TecmoGirl"]Not trying to be a dick but did you mean "might as well" instead of minus well? Just curious. He meant 'minus the well', since wells have no place on a controller
Just look at it...it looks soo....old! -- minus well have a grey version of WilliamRLBaker's awesome beard at this point. We've seen it for 3 gens now.
Anybody else want something new next time or are we still sticking to that "Don't fix what isn't broken" motto for them these days?

If it ain't broke, don't fix it. There is nothing wrong with the PS3 controller. Most people saying the PS3 controller needs a redesign are people that don't even own a PS3. They just feel the need to bash the controller.AmazonTreeBoa
very true. the DS3 is pure perfection. that's the reason why Nintendo & MS keep redesigning their controllers. because they're garbage.

Are you actually being serious.
That is something ShadowMooses would say.

They don't have to change anything else just those a little bit.

It's not broken. So why fix it? It's an instantly recognisable controller for the Playstation.

But it is most definitely broken -- terrible triggers, awful symmetrical analog sticks that are like way too loose(not enough resistance), and it's only alright ergonomically(fits my hands fine anyways). It's played out. And I dun get the whole it's instantly recognizable part. Any controller would be regonizable if you're a gamer wouldn't it? Why would that even matter?
Concave triggers, and maybe concave thumb sticks. That's all it needs. The dpad is damn near perfect, I'd never hope to see that change, no other dpad I've played with has felt more accurate. Size could increase a tiny bit but really im fine with it's current size. Fix the damn triggers!

Exactly.
the triggers are the best, really makes me feel out the sensitivity. plus they dont hurt fingers when you hold them down for long periods like the 360 controllerIt's fine the way it is. And I don't understand why people have a problem with the triggers.

Exactly, that's specifically what makes the triggers great imo.
[QUOTE="finalfantasy94"]
change r2 l2 and thats it.

that's my problem with the controller too. The R2 and L2 are just horrible!
How are they horrible? :o

doesint feel broken to me. It fits perfectly in my hands and I like it much more then something like the 360 design. The sticks are in the right place and feel right. To be honest all that needs a design fix is the l2 and r2.

it just feels wrong. Dont know how to describe it:P. I actually bought attachment for it and it feels much better.

I will say it's triggers are sh!t, hated those damn things. Analog sticks were better loose because it meant I neevr overshot my aim in any games, too much resistance usually means you push it too hard and aim too far because of that resistance. but that comes down to in game sensitivities more than anything else. It's a personal preference. And I have never had problems with the location of the sticks, my thumbs and hands are symmetrical, one of them isn't higher than the other. After a while my hands don't cramp or lock up or anything like that on it so it makes no difference. I hardly notice it when playing.
And sure if you're a "gamer" you will know but that's not the point. It's brand recognition. Example - If I showed my mom a PS3 controller she would know it's playstation, without any logos or anything, you know what the controller is for and what it relates to. It's branding. That sort of instant recognition in a world where we have increasing numbers of joypads is what you need. These small things help boost the Sony Playstation image. You need to learn about marketing and advertising a little.

Yeah your fingers can slip easily on those things.
Other than that a "complete redesign" is a bit much

lol! Really though?...Who gives a damn about any of that beyond the quality of the controller. A controller iconic status is about as important as a Kim Kardashian's love life. If I show any non-gamer a controller, their mind is going to register one thing -- it's meant to play video games. Brand regonizition on a controller doesn't mean anything.
It won't sell a console. It's not like its a game or something -- like Mario sells people on a Nintendo console or Halo selling people on a MS console. Besides, MS and Nintendo changed their controllers and they're doing just fine right?

why so salty bro?
It's called: Opinion
Not really, couple of points tho:
The triggers : R2, L2 $uck ... they need to remodel them.
The Analoge stick dome leather cover rotates on its axis after long time of use, it makes controlling fighters very difficult, they need to put stronger glue.
The D pad isn't comfortable, I think they need to remodel that as well.
