[QUOTE="stylesPS3"][QUOTE="omgimba"]The bluray player on the PS3 is slow. About the same speed as the Xbox's DVD player (I think its slitghtly slower actully).
Reading 5 times more data with the same speed takes 5 times as long speed.
This isn't everything but it sure is something. There is a reason the PS3 needs installs for many games.

yes there is a reason, it is because blu ray holds so much data that it would be more efficient to move some of it to HD instead of reading it off the disk. Um, dude, it is because a Blu-ray drive reads at 9X as apposed to the 360's 16X. Why would Bioshock have a install? Is there magically more information on the PS3 version because of the Blu-ray? (just so ya know, the answer to the last question is "no")Xbox 360 Dvd is 16 mb/s and PS3 Blu-ray 9 mb/s. If I remember correctly.
The blu-ray has more room for data (Main argument for Blu-ray), thus the data can be less compressed. Five times more storage makes it possible to store Data that takes 5 times more room.
If you load 50 mb of compressed data from the xbox dvd, then it takes 3 seconds. If you load 200 mb uncompressed data (same data) from the Ps3 blu-ray it takes 21 seconds.
In order to have less compressed data (Relieve the Cell of some duties) its a good idea too have Installs as a complement.
Basicly, face it: Devs have less compression on PS3 games. The nearly only possible outcome of this is longer load times, or installs.
