Will 360 users and microsoft continue to turn a blind eye to the problem?bobaban
How has Microsoft turned a blind-eye to the problem?
This topic is locked from further discussion.
One 360 with a light proves nothing if it was widescale there would be reports all over the web. There is not even a link to the forum where the game claimed this RROD. It seems like someone just went and searched for a photo of the Halo 3 edition with RROD.

We'll know for sure when there are more 65nm units in circulation.
Gotta love the x360 on the carpet and even if its elevated slightly, dust gets inside and insulates the Heatsinks.7thSIN
What if it's a really clean carpet... and how can you avoid dust getting inside your xbox 360... it'll break eventully if that's what's doing it.

It would take a while for dust to build up - this 360 looks brand spanking new. The plastic on the infared sensor on the front hasn't even been peeled off yet.

1. How do I know that's a 360 fitted with Falcon chips.
2. That 360 must be only days old, someone must want attention. Even on a carpet, it wouldn't die that quickly. I'm guessing it's fake.
Make excuses for your beloved 360....smart.
on carpet IT WILL NOT die....aslong as the vents are clear and theres enough vetilations...it should be fine.
Wrong, setting any electronic that generates alot of heat on carpet will indeed make that piece of electronic overheat. Carpet absorbs heat and holds it, making the electronic device sitting on it EXTREMELY hot.
[QUOTE="tango90101"][QUOTE="killaj2786"]the falcon ones are only on the halo 3 ones....

Your laptop is designed to shut itself down in the event of a thermal event. The 360 does not (hence why the towel trick works).
Your laptop probably has a cheap as hell GPU in it that couldn't get hot even if it wanted to.
You make bad decisions. You should not be proud enough to tell people you intentionally sit a laptop on your carpet for hours at a time, covering some of if not all of it's ventallation. Even if it doesn't get overly hot, it's simply unwise.
You presume the solution is simple. If the solution were that simple and cheap, Microsoft would have done that long ago. I think I'd leave it to their engineers to figure it out. They're well educated, so if they thought some plastic bits would get the job done, they would have used them. Instead the redesigned the heatsink and some other stuff to try to reduce the heat. I'm not on their engineering team and neither are you. Neither are 99.999% of the people who comment on this issue. None of us know how simple or complicated the issue is.
[QUOTE="thinicer"]Another thing is that you can reproduce the red ring of death without it meaning the death of your console. After a very slight power fluctuation at my house (turning off and then back on really, really fast) my 360 went red ring on me. I powered it down and then back on, and it was fine after that.
tango90101
agreed. also, loosening some of theconnections in the back will give you red rings....
very easy to fake for pics, so the cows love to do it...
So your saying a cow bought a 360 just to fake the rrod to bash lems on a forum? enough with the damage control, theres a chance it dosent have the new chip but dont make rediculous claims[QUOTE="tango90101"][QUOTE="thinicer"]Another thing is that you can reproduce the red ring of death without it meaning the death of your console. Well ur first big prob is... well having it on the carpet, it has to be on a hard surface, also do u know how much dust collects in a carpet? the 360 will just suck allll that dust up.. i checked my 360 today and i do have the falcon chip in mine. and so far it is a lot cooler and quieter

Sorry bud. Give me a video and show the 65nm CPU inside and I'll believe you. Until then, it's BS. I gave you 2 reasons as to what it can be. People on the internet love causing drama.

Till we get an confirmation thatALLHalo 3-X360 editions include the 65nm chip your point is moot. And even if all of these new edition consoles do have this new chip, there is no way of finding out if the Red Ring there is a "faked" error. Several statements such as that have been made in this thread and I still can not believe we're discussing this.
A red ring can be produced simply by not plugging in the video cables.

Whoever had that system didnt even take off the plastic so why should we NOT assume its a kajed error.
Nov 23rd 2006 4:00PM nice try. lol What you couldn't find one more recent?Oh yeah, it's a PS3 not a 360!:Phttp://www.joystiq.com/2006/11/23/ps3-broken-straight-out-of-the-box/

Actually if you look closely it looks like the 360 is sitting on a shelf thats sitting on the carpet...
1. Its easy to fake a RROD pic- this isnt proof.
2. 65nm is not gonna eliminate all RROD- the Red Ring of Death appears for many reasons- & there are many possible hardware failures that 65nm chips will not solve.
3. the Xbox360 failure rate is NOT as high as 1/3- just because one store somewhere said so- you can pretty much dismiss that- tho I will admit failure rates are higher than they should be.
4. My Xbox360 is 19months old & still going strong...
5. If your X360 breaks down its covered by a 3 year warranty- so yes it might be inconvenient but its not the end of the world... (some Cows r trying to make it out like its the end of the world)

the falcon chips were put in some of the 360s. IF MS keep this up im a gonna have to buy a PS3 :'(zaid55
It's simply a faulty design of the system itself. They simply didn't and don't know enough about hardware. They have been and always will specialize in software. The 360 is the first piece of hardware MS has created entirely on their own. Sony and Nintendo have been making hardware for many years, especially Sony from its VAIO PC's to its camchorders and on and on.
some of you need to just stop with the damage control. do you think casuals are going to see this picture and say thats fake i just go spend 400+ on a 360 because sony fanboys are lying. No... ms makes crap hardware. everyone knows it. you would think for the halo edition they would at least make it reliable. jessie5788casuals aren't going to see this pic

Hmm... I guess there is some special serial number or something on the back of the system to indicate the presence of the falcon chips.

Sony knows hardware and have been at it many years. It shows when it comes to thes more powerful next gen systems that require greater knowledge to dissipate heat and run smoothely. It's all in the design and knowledge of the best components to use for the design of the system. MS would've known how to test its products better and fix issues before they release it if they had more experience with makikng hardware. After all Sony's been making PC's for a lot of years and this helps them know how to make a good reliable gaming system.

Nice carpet dude, I congratulate you for killing your 360.
It's not actually sitting directly on the carpet pal, it's elevated a couple inches above the carpet by plywood. Anyway It's nice to see the lemmings are quick to call this a fake, just like how they called the previous RROD problem fake until the simply could not deny it any longer.

Agreed. I find it hard to believe that a machine with even the old chips would brake down so fast.
For all we know some cray PS3 fanboy put this console inside an oven until it broke down in a last ditch attempt to save Sony from getting spanked this holiday season.
Would a fanboy go that far? I'm convinced that a Cow would. These guys still remember the glory days of the PS2 and it is inconceivable for them to live in a world were the PlayStation brand is not the on top.

All that experience and they still managed to destroy quite a few laptops with their faulty batteries...
