They want you to forget about last August, September, October and November when the PS4 had ZERO games, and the Xbox was getting exclusive after exclusive. Same thing happened in 2015 and 2014.

Ratchet and Clank alone outsold Quantum Break, Recore, and Dead Rising 4 combined. Uncharted 4 outsold the Xbox Ones entire exclusive output in 2016 including Gears 4 and Forza Horizon 3 combined, with room to spare. So I don't know why you're mentioning games that 'don't sell' on Playstation when the issue on Xbox is a much greater one.

That and estimates for Halo Wars 2 aren't so hot, that and the NPD's have Nioh as a higher seller than Halo Wars 2. World wide is probably a fucking slaughter that being the case. Here's Halo Wars 2 and Nier Automata first week estimates on VGChartz. Not 100% accurate numbers of course, but it's enough to be telling:

Halo Wars 2 Week 1 - 149,000 (World Wide)

Nier Automata Week 1 - 192,000 (Japan Only)

Funny how these Japanese games that 'don't sell' are eclipsing a Halo brand game in the United States, and completely dominating on the global stage. This isn't the media blurring our eyes, this is hard facts.

In fairness Sony only made one of those games. Xbox doesn't have the advantage of a nation's favoritism. If Bethesda suddenly treated PS4 the way Japanese devs treat Xbox cows would throw a shit fit. You cant force Japanese devs to support Xbox, its just that simple. And American ones will do anything to increase revenue.

But P5 isn't exclusive,make it two exclusives.

If the PS4 sold only 70,000 units in the USA then maybe Bethesda would treat them like that. For whatever reason the Xbox One is literally stone cold dead in Japan. At least 360 managed to rake in 1.6 million sales and got some support, but Japan just shot Xbox right down this time around, I dunno why. Catch 22 situation though, you need the units in their homeland to earn their support, but you need their support to earn some units there too.

@bobrossperm: they also ignored the original Xbox largely. And 1.6million over 8years. The bottom line is they prefer their own. There are millions of Xbox consoles to sell to outside Japan as Capcom does with RE7, Square with FF15. Lets not pretend this is just this gen now.

You got a 79 game Halo wars2 and the PS4 is bombarding the xbox one, Nioh,Yakuza 0,Nier,gravity rush,Kindom hearts,Horizon and now Persona with 94% and MLB with 86% is like the games can't be stop man,oh there is Everything with 81%,Danganrompa 1 and 2 reloaded with 82%,Night in the woods with 87%,Tales of Berseria which has 79% like Halo Wars 2 all those games in the last 90 or less man.

Yeah but Xbox guys don't seem to buy games that aren't Halo Gears or Forza. I think Titanfall was the only outstanding performer on Xbox One that wasn't those games and you can probably guess why that is. So on the hierarcy of games these people are buying, Japanese stuff is well down the list, practically at the bottom. There's not much wonder why Japan don't really deal with Xbox.

You can't probably a statement like this as FACT! That is what is wrong with system wars, people say blanket statements like this with no proof and everyone takes it as fact. I have seen this statement made in several post already, and I just want to know peoples sources. If it is true that is okay to because Microsoft only cares if their entire gaming division is being competitive and it looks like it is doing well. But you cant claim something like this without evidence first!

From the System Wars point of view, this was the worst gen ever. The WiiU was a total failure and the Xbone is easily Microsoft's worst console with the worst 1st party lineup. Meanwhile the PS4 has just been the best at literally everything.

Too uneven a fight to be interesting. The last few gens had more of a contest. In terms of a primary gaming system, the only answer is PS4 this gen. Maybe a WiiU for secondary if you already have a PC. Nothing much else to discuss.

Yeah, the PS4 is doing well. Still not good enough to get the majority of my playtime, but it's trying.

The metagame for the Xbox One (and pretty much the entire generation including PC, Wii U, and PS4) has been pretty much non existent. The PS4 finally gets a few highly rated games after three (3) years of dismal offerings and the cows froth at the mouth. I'm surprised folks still even care still about arguing over pieces of plastic.

Im pretty sure what they are referring to was the quarterly revenue for the top 25 game companies. MS' quarterly profits enveloped all of the Xbox division (include game sales and subscriptions) which would most likely include the pc branches since they are also branded with the xbox name. Really hes not being that unreasonable

Well so far I am enjoying Horizon and its possible I could like it a lot more then UC4. I want to play Nioh too and I expect P5 to be better then P3 and P4.

My point is the Xbox One lacks sleeper hits in the exclusive space. Everything they announce seem to be at the forefront of their E3's with considerable hype, then come release no one buys them (unless they're Halo Gears or Forza). Take something like Until Dawn on PS4. Before that released I expected maybe 4-500,000 unit sales lifetime. It had no marketing, it just released. It went on to sell close to 2 million copies so far.

Sunset Overdrive was all we ever heard from Xbox guys in 2014, it got much marketing and released to tepid sales. Quantum Break same thing happened. Recore same thing happened. People like to say Recore was never hyped by Xbox fans or MS, but if you watch their E3 in 2015, they say it's a 'new franchise for Xbox'. And it had me thinking at the time, 'I wonder what Sony's answer to this is?' And when I saw Horizon Zero Dawn I thought 'this is it'. Only MS never made good on Recore and it shat the bed upon release and fell into obsceurity. I would have never thought that would be the case in June 2015.

On the Sony side we have their franchises selling better this gen than they ever have, including the PS2 days. Uncharted, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, MLB, then new IP's killing it like Horizon, Bloodborne, Nioh, and even Until Dawn. Microsoft need new blood that isn't garbage. I'd genuinely like to see it. But all I'm seeing are sequals to what were C-Tier Xbox 360 exclusives that are being pushed to the forefront because they don't have a Halo or Gears lined up this year. There's Sea Of Thieves so far, and we'll see about that.

But as you have pointed out, SO wasn't a barn burner, Rare Replay wasn't, QB, Recore, Halo Wars 2 wasn't held off for 8 years because the first one was still printing money. But then when they do put out their money items they get criticized for that also. Every X1 owner I know bought those games with the exception of Recore. Lets look at 2 of these "sleeper hits" on PS4. Bloodborne and Nioh. This idea that the uber hard, action RPG ala Dark Souls is a niche genre still is absurd now.

It's not so much MS's fault as it is their audience. They just won't buy the other stuff. I'm sure if Recore sold 2.6 million in 2 weeks like Horizon did the sequal would already be greenlit months ago. Blame Keiji Inafune for that one.

Bloodborne wasn't a sleeper hit, it had considerable marketing from Sony, Nioh didn't. And just because Souls fans like Nioh doesn't change that. Also more to my point, if it was an Xbox One exclusive no one would touch it hardly. Because Xbox guys hate new games.
