For what it is worth, late game Trophies for Bloodborne seem to be at least Common, at worst Uncommon, indicating that almost everyone who started the game saw it through to at least the endgame.

For a game that's barely over a month old, this 'huge phenomenal success' and a 1 million plus seller, you don't find it odd that discussion about it has been a ghost town for about a month?

People will be talking about Uncharted 4 and Halo 5 around here daily for like a year, the game fell off dude, it sold to a bunch of people who didn't know what in the hell they were buying into, it's simple.

For reference- the Witches of Hermwick battle trophy is common. That is considered roughly halfway into the game. Common Trophies are 75% of the people who booted the game got them and higher.

The Rom battle trophy is Rare. This trophy initiates the endgame. Rare Trophies are 33%.

This means at least a third of the people got through to the endgame of Bloodborne.

For comparison's sake one in ten people got through to Mass Effect's endgame, according to Bioware. Is Mass Effect also niche, NyaDC?

Just to further Charizard's point here, according to trophies 35% of people have seen the ending of Bloodborne. That's more than Far Cry 4 (32% trophy rarity) and Call of Duty AW (27%). The platinum trophy for Bloodborne is also 10x more common than COD AW (4% to 0.4%) even though both platinums take roughly the same number of hours.

Those are some pretty decent numbers for a game that so many people bought and returned straight away :o

Far Cry 4, Call of Duty & Mass Effect have god knows how many more players, you can't correlate their finishing percentage rates to Bloodborne, a Souls game with a cult following who is guaranteed to see the game to the end...

You then tried arguing the mainstream sales angle, wherein Bloodborne's sales were established as decidedly not niche. You then tried to argue the audience engagement angle, where that was also decided to be 'mainstream' enough. Now you are back to sales

You really try hard to intrinsically tie things together as if they're one thing, that is a common trend with people on these forums and it's a huge annoyance...

Some guy said he couldn't bear to play past the first few hours and I said that's exactly how it was for me, then I said I don't understand how anyone could enjoy this game. After that the discussion shifted completely unrelated to that and went to niche, the definition of it, what we all think it means and then finally we got onto sales, fall off rates and mainstream abandonment.

Have to agree with you char. I doubt I'll buy Forza 6. FH2 has me all set. For the record I don't believe the Souls games are niche in any way any more. Going into the Gamestop on Flatbush ave the day after it came out and it was all anyone was talking about. For me, The Witcher is more my type of RPG but I love playing Soulsborne type as well.
