Can't wait for the dlc

Is Forza niche?
From a sales perspective sure, from a playability and accessibility standpoint, no.
I'd say that from a playibility and accessibility standpoint, a racing sim is far less accessible than a fantasy RPG that has you fighting Cthulhu.
Have to agree with you char. I doubt I'll buy Forza 6. FH2 has me all set. For the record I don't believe the Souls games are niche in any way any more. Going into the Gamestop on Flatbush ave the day after it came out and it was all anyone was talking about. For me, The Witcher is more my type of RPG but I love playing Soulsborne type as well.
Yeah, they're audience engaging, mid tier selling games, man.
Forza Horizon 2 looks ace. Definitely one of the first games I buy when I get my Xbox One. Would have gotten it on 360, but I really want the full experience.
The proof is everywhere, it went silent, the game was the bees knees for like two weeks and then just vanished and stopped being talked about,
Except for when it's, you know, being talked about. Then it's (according to you and you alone) some ruse to keep the hype alive.
And really, what are you expecting from the game? Are we supposed to be flooded with Bloodborne articles and discussion for months on end for the game to be "relevant"? It's a video game. It releases, people play it, talk about it, the excitement dies down and that's it. Welcome to every game ever.
Stop conflating and projecting your own experience
Let's not kid ourselves here. He was out for blood (get it, out for blood? Har, har) long before the game even released. I'd wonder why he even bought it, but then again he subscribes to the hilarious school of thought that just because you own something you aren't incredibly biased.
...I was just about to say, It'd be nice if the game were an Xbone exclusive so we wouldn't have to hear these desperate ramblings. Though the unfortunate reality is that instead we would have dozens of cows crying about how Bloodborne sucks and is a casual friendly sell out version of the Souls games.
Fucking fanboys man, you just can't win, but I guess we came out lucky on this one. One rabid lem is better than a dozen suicidal cows.
@nyadc: nice try. You were the one that kept changing the angle each time you were disproven, and related or not, each time you were disproven for each aspect.
No one has disproven anything, everyone continually refuses to post anything credible, thinks their text citing something they're not linking is proof and keeps telling me to go find whatever the hell they're talking about.
You're crazy...
@nyadc: we have proven far more than you have. I have screenshots of the trophy raritys here, though posting from my phone can't really post them up. Also starting work. Adios.
Literally no one has proven anything in this thread in either direction, we've just been yelling back and forth without sourcing anything of any kind.
I guess my question fell to deaf ears :\
I wouldn't post my gamer IDs on here either...............your sig looks scary
@charizard1605: My argument wasn't weather or not BB is a niche game or not. I merely stated that being "niche" has nothing to do with selling 1 million of something.

I'm so tired of the Rock or Welles clapping that I wont do it..................stay the course, thousand points of light
My buddy, giant cow figuratively speaking of course, was just asking me 'why doesn't MS just give FromSoft a shit ton of money to make the Xbox its own Soulsy game?' I told him I didn't get the CEO job fella.
Don't know what more needs to be said to @nyadc on this one. It isn't a niche game in any way shape or form. These games are recognized for their immense quality.
I guess my question fell to deaf ears :\

I did say he gladly flaunts his steam name here.
I am not scary, what did the sith ever do to you :( ?
Like to say its pretty stupid to change the definition of words just cause you are passionate about whatever it is.
Didn't it approach the million mark in about 10 days? And wasn't it 4th on an individual sku basis?
Anyways, all the Souls games are floating around the 2 mil territory, right? These games aren't smash hits, but anybody still calling them niche either doesn't understand what niche means or is just perpetually salty about something they don't like.
Reminds of people who still call MGS niche. Just because a game isn't CoD, GTA, Skyrim, Mario Kart, Minecraft, etc. doesn't mean it's some obscure franchise/title.
But it is and yes most games are niche.....shocking no not really.
There is a study somewhere and well marketing in general, anything less than 5% (believe was the number used in article) is niche. So apply that rule of thumb to gaming. These are corporate executives talking not gamers. They only look at numbers and the numbers have meaning. If a game like Bloodborne only sells 1 million on an install base of 22m its niche end of story. That equates to 1/22 = 0.04% What if 5 years later we have 80m PS4s but still only 1m Bloodbornes sold? 1/80 or 0.01% looks pretty niche to me and that is how they see it and how you should see it unless you want to rewrite the English dictionary now. Each industry has its own definition for what niche is but the common denominator is that it is a low number and definitely < %10. Moreover, when comparing sales data you gain more insight by treating each iteration as a standalone instead of hiding information by combining everything together. For example, Rayman franchise sold roughly 20m total, but we both know many of their games flopped.
Just cuz its gaming doesn't mean these simple rules don't apply.
Moreover when people say niche they are not looking at it as a fixed number. People look at it as a percentage so the number could be 1m, 10m, 20m, 100m. If the number represents a low percentage of the overall population, it will be treated as such. ESPN is actually a niche television channel. Much of the coverage surrounding Bloodborne also exudes niche marketing as it was too specific and very anti-casual despite devs wanting to increase their casual audience:
@notorious1234na:
Thank you captain obvious, almost every game that exists is niche according to a broad definition. Awesome.
I would think (hope) that on a gaming message board we would be able understand how the term applies, relative to the subject matter (games) instead of bickering over semantics.
I understand in business numbers it is niche as just about every game is then. I took it for granted that here, we weren't going there. But ok, I stand corrected it is niche in a sales % sense.
Bloodborne thread...
*scrolls down*
@Nyadc meltdown.
Never fails to entertain me :)
the new Lulu
I wouldn't post my gamer IDs on here either
Same man. 1 person on SW has my PSN. Nobody on SW has my Steam or XBL. There are some cool bros on here, but I choose compartmentalize certain aspects of my life haha.
It's only the Xbros with their sub human intelligence levels who are too stupid to beat the first boss talking all that jibber jabber.

Who are you answering? Not the thread title
I guess as with everything else Sony-related this Gen: they didn't expect anything to do this well.
And Bloodborne is a game with limited appeal but very dedicated following. We could compare it to the band Tool, which isn't big commercially or isn't identifiable by casuals, but in reality sells a lot.
Sony doesn't expect anything to do well. Even their console. Somehow they can polish a turd. Amazing.

meanwhile microsoft is still begging people to buy theirs.
Nah man, it's a niche game. I know this because I stopped playing a few hours in. This was the same experience for everyone who bought the game I bet.
Exactly what happened for me, I don't understand how someone could enjoy this.
because not everyone is an Xbot and doesn't mind whether it's exclusive or not, maybe it's because the game is well made and really fun.
I know you Xbots have a hard time grasping this concept.
@Krelian-co: Begging? That is what you call it? I guess Microsoft should just lie like Sony and make promises it can't fill.
How is your Silent Hill PT doing these days? Hype never ment to materialize. Expect more fluff from Sonys E3 to give the illusion that there is something good just around the corner. I'm not mad at u though.

Xbox One has power of 10 Xbox 360 consoles, says Microsoft
"And the company says the power becomes "infinite" with cloud technology"
How are you enjoying the cloud of infinite power? Enough to do more than 900p and 30 fps yet?
http://gamerant.com/rise-of-tomb-raider-xbox-exclusive/
"As you may have seen, we’ve just announced that Rise of the Tomb Raider, coming Holiday 2015, is exclusively on Xbox."
@Krelian-co: yep, magic. Thank u for posting. You should come over to the green side. You are good at speeding that Microsoft love.

MS is the one doing these crazy fire sale type deals, discounting the system and giving away games lolol

Yes, most companies try to get people to purchase there product, it's called advertising. I know it might be hard to believe, but Sony does it to.
ITT: @nyadc gets kicked around like a roadside coke can because he has terrible taste in games.
Pro tip: If you see a Bloodborne thread, just stay out of it, it will be easier on you. Don't you have a doll to play with, or something?
Another insecurity thread.
No kidding. At least with Lulu's complaints you could make some kind of forward ground but with NyaDC it's all just circular logic.
It probably helps a great deal there's no other exclusives on PS4 competing for consumers attention. Bloodborne is succumbing to the Knack effect, except this game actually looks exceptionally good.
@nyadc: goddamn mobile not allowing me to post a gif for how fucking stupid that is. Livio help me out.
Played the game the entire week. Community is still great. Still sold over a million in ten days. Still a 93 at Metacritic. Waiting for your solid proof it "killed itself."
You keep saying it has a 93 on metacritic when in fact it has a 92 metascore (and 8.7 user review). Not a big deal, but the fact you keep mentioning it I thought you would want to know what it really is. http://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/bloodborne

Yeah and for a niche appeal game, that is an incredible score. You are always going to get reviewers who say it is too hard or something, or the story isn't obvious enough for them.
I honestly didn't expect it to surpass Dark Souls 2's metacritic score.

Yeah, man. A million in 10 days, on one platform (one with a horrid attach rate, I remind you). The game sold well, people can bring forth all sorts of explanation about a game drought or whatever other nonsense, the fact is that it sold well, it exceeded all expectations. It is not a niche game. A niche game is Persona (series sales of 6 million across 14 different SKU releases) or Metroid (series sales of 15 million across 12 different SKU releases). If people call Metroid a major franchise, ****, Souls is far bigger than it ever was.
To be clear, Dark Souls and Dark Souls II are at 2.5 million each (with Scholars of the First Sin, II is probably beyond 3 million at this point). Bloodborne is at over a million. Literally the only 'niche' Souls game was Demon's, the very first one, which had sub 500k sales worldwide. That's it.
People need to stop living in 2009.
When people say niche surrounding a Souls game it's not only because of the low adoption rate, it's because it REALLY requires a special kind of person to be able to actually play it. There are plenty of games that don't appeal to me and don't appeal to others but we can play them no problem and still find some enjoyment, a Souls game is not something where this happens, you either love it or you fucking hate it, and A LOT of people hate it.
And yet Souls/bloodborne continue to sell well.
You can say a lot of people hate any single game ever in existence, so that's not really a point.
Man, I guess we all knew where this topic would end up, but still...
hahaha
I think my head literally hurts after that last comment.
Be honest. Are you surprised by that with his history here?
Something is wrong with NyaDC. Let me ask you a question (don't lie to me), did any of the Souls games touched your private parts?
Fcuking lol man.
Exactly what happened for me, I don't understand how someone could enjoy this.
Can't believe I actually have to spell out in bold text that I'm being sarcastic, holy fucking shit
You would think your sig and comment would give that away.
Pfft. Yeah right Sony. You didn't expect your only worth while exlusive to do well? I'm sure it helps that your 22 mil. consumers are starving for games. It probably would have sold well, even if the game was junk. Just look at The Order.
@freedomfreak: I was playing through Demon's Souls a month or 2 ago and got the invasion monk. Game was still pretty bad, though.
I see NyaDC continues to be the resident village idiot of SW. LOL @ his epic meltdown in this thread.
I don't think middle grounds happen often enough to act like these games not having one is some sort of spectacle.
Sure lots of ppl say a game was ok...but they still like it.
I can only think of a couple of games that I liked and hated (middle ground or whatever) off the top of my head. And one is bc it was Star Wars so I liked it....but it was frustrating as hell so I hated it.
1 million dollar sellers aren't niche
back in the day we called those "greatest hits"
games like ori the blind forest and indies are niche
people don't understand what niche means anymore, it means sales are lower than 1 million + which bloodborne isnt
i think its million units sold not million dollars
That equates to 1/22 = 0.04%
Lol, learn to number dude. 1/22 = more than 4.5%
touche just wrote the decimal w.e. it was like 3am?
__________________________
Niche =/= popularity
Niche =/= profitability
Niche can be poplar or unpopular. Niche can be profitable or unprofitable. Those two words are just characteristics of the market. Niche simply means "a distinct segment of the market" . So yeah I have a problem because people are using sales and number of YouTube views/ advertising data incorrectly. Shouldn't use those 3 words together unless you clearly define how you are using them. Stating, it's no longer niche because it's popular is not entirely right or wrong. Imeem a social network with 25m monthly visitors is still considered niche simply because it targets a specific segment of the market. It isn't a broad definition and has nothing to do with how it relates to gaming. It's called to be blunt using the words in the English (marketing) dictionary correctly and not using BS definitions to further your own agenda. As stated earlier, even in the gaming industry <5% is considered a niche title.
In grand scale of things as mentioned by Capcom, AAA games usually need 2m+ copies to break-even. Therefore when you look at it, 1m or 2m lifetime sales is pathetic and just enough to get by. If consumers still think 2m sold in this day and age is good, clearly not seeing things from the perspective of developers and publishers. Fortunately, Souls franchise as a whole is a very low budget game so they don't need 2m+ to make a profit and is the rare exception.
