No damage control required, the game killed itself in two weeks and fell off into oblivion.
Hum, then why are we debating it atm?
Do you even think?

@nyadc: goddamn mobile not allowing me to post a gif for how fucking stupid that is. Livio help me out.
Played the game the entire week. Community is still great. Still sold over a million in ten days. Still a 93 at Metacritic. Waiting for your solid proof it "killed itself."
It shot itself in the foot by being hyped and geared to the mainstream who would inevitably reject it like every other Souls game before it, it killed itself by attempting to convince the masses that they were going to like it and failed because of what it is. The drought and hype built this game up to be something for everyone, people needed something to play but when they actually got it they genuinely questioned what in the hell they spent their money on.
It killed itself by not exactly misrepresenting what it was, but rather by trying to appeal to a larger demographic who was naive to what they were getting into by purchasing it.
The hype died when everyone finally figured out what this was all about, that mainstream crowd went away and this shit died.
Pretty bold assumptions u got there. Do you have any proof of what you're saying or are you just talking out of your ass? I'm going for the later

So your position is when people need "something to play" they only play exclusives for a system?
I didn't buy the game myself and I cant keep up with games on my PS4.
And if thats the other consoles are really hurtling then,
I would like to think people knew what type of game BB was, after all there was a 2+ hour video of the game circulating weeks before game came out, not to mention numerous interviews with devs on what type of game they were shooting for.
All of the above is why I didn't buy it, because I knew it was indeed like the Souls games and I dont care for them.
Nah man, it's a niche game. I know this because I stopped playing a few hours in. This was the same experience for everyone who bought the game I bet.
Exactly what happened for me, I don't understand how someone could enjoy this.
I believe the appropriate way to enjoy Souls game is a technique called 'gitting gud'
nah, Souls games aren't about being good and more about preparation and maybe a bit of trial and error. On Dark Souls I have beaten every single boss the same way. I just use a ring for defense and a ring for quick stamina regeneration. Then I get close and start mashing the heavy attack till it dies. No strategy, no nothing, just pure old button mashing.

I hope this :
A full fledged sequel and or expansion not to come out on the Xbox one and thus serving as further ownage on the pitiful competition.
Never forget the proper context for the discussion of AAA exclusives on sw.

No, sorry, I don't care about pointless brand related ownage as much as I care about having some neat games to play. The only thing that is pitiful is slavish allegiance and loyalty to a piece of plastic.

Do and say as you like, but that particular brand of consoles and its fanbase will endure bitter ownage for this entire generation. Look around you charizard.
Do you think my comrades will be denied their revenge? After the ordeal they went through back in '06 and '07?
Viktor Reznov explained the situation greatly in COD WAW. Sometimes brutal pwnage is in order so they never forget before they post garbage and hatred towards gaming systems.

Especially true for BB.
Wait, since Sony didn't expect the game to sell particularly well...doesn't that mean Sony viewed it as a bit of a niche title?
In any case, I'm not surprised by the sales. It's the only 8-9 out of 10 game currently worth a damn on the PS4.
@nyadc@charizard1605@Gue1
Dark Souls was no longer niche after its original niche audience boasted the title over the internet in an explosion of "git gud" and "praise the sun" memes. Souls vets, as smug as they were, popularized the series themselves.
And now lo and behold the consequence of their actions. In becoming mainstream, Dark Souls II became dumbed down for the CoD generation and Bloodborne is the wretched, shallow continuation of the former.
I can't advocate for the new "casuls" that have just hopped on board to the soulstrain, but naturally, their opinions don't matter and will be discredited.
Casulborne (Bloodborne) is probably the most reviled game within the souls vet circle. Hardcore stream/tubers like EpicNameBro, Yukas and Limit Breaker dismissed it as "disappointing" and "meh." The dudes that defended souls games to the end over on the neogaf and Gfaqs are all starting to piss all over this game. Don't take my word for it, go check. Nefastuss is one of these educated gentlemen.
It's not dead yet, but I give it about a month. (Accurate) Truly saddening :-(

That's not true and you are known naysayer of BB anyways.

Seems wrong to me.

Lmao....
06 and 07 were probably two of the best years on this forum. The meltdowns were unreal. So many fanboys were on suicide watch.
Good times.
n an interesting interview with MCV, which we highly recommend to check out, the boss of the UK branch of Sony Computer Entertainment, Fergal Gara admitted that the highly acclaimed PS4 exclusive Bloodborne, exceeded their expectations in terms of sales.
It did surprise us, we had expectations to do well. We looked at the Souls series as a frame of reference, and we thought we could do better than that. We did – and then some. Relative to some of our sister territories, we were being quite ambitious, but even that proved to be conservative.
Fergal Gara goes on saying what one of the reasons is behind its success:
I think Bloodborne might have just landed just at the right time; it was a relatively quiet time, it was a very high quality title and a great platform differentiator for us. We were caught a little bit behind in terms of the volume, but we were able to chase it and maximise its potential.
http://gearnuke.com/bloodborne-sales...sony-surprise/
I hope this :
How does it lead to that? I also wouldint care though since I still feel demon souls is much better game then dark souls.
Surprising given how little effort they've put in bringing out other high quality exclusives like Bloodborne from the beginning of the PS4's life till now. You'd think they'd have realized that a large part of it's success aside from it's quality comes from the massive drought PS4 owners have been facing.

If SW was real life, this comment would be true.
@nyadc: your meltdowns are hilarious. Just saying.
Just to further Charizard's point here, according to trophies 35% of people have seen the ending of Bloodborne. That's more than Far Cry 4 (32% trophy rarity) and Call of Duty AW (27%). The platinum trophy for Bloodborne is also 10x more common than COD AW (4% to 0.4%) even though both platinums take roughly the same number of hours.
Far Cry 4, Call of Duty & Mass Effect have god knows how many more players, you can't correlate their finishing percentage rates to Bloodborne, a Souls game with a cult following who is guaranteed to see the game to the end...
Which negates your point that the people who bought the game didn't play it beyond the first few hours.
Are we done here?
I said the mainstream crowd, the bulk of the sales abandoned the game, I don't know what you're talking about a few hours for?
Your initial post was in agreement with a post that said the game beyond the first few hours was unenjoyable, stating 'you don't understand how anyone could enjoy the game.'
You then tried arguing the mainstream sales angle, wherein Bloodborne's sales were established as decidedly not niche. You then tried to argue the audience engagement angle, where that was also decided to be 'mainstream' enough. Now you are back to sales
You really try hard to intrinsically tie things together as if they're one thing, that is a common trend with people on these forums and it's a huge annoyance...
Some guy said he couldn't bear to play past the first few hours and I said that's exactly how it was for me, then I said I don't understand how anyone could enjoy this game. After that the discussion shifted completely unrelated to that and went to niche, the definition of it, what we all think it means and then finally we got onto sales, fall off rates and mainstream abandonment.
God you suck...
@nyadc: and again is proven the bulk of the sales (ie ratio) saw the game through as much as CoD, Far Cry and Mass Effect
35% is the bulk of 100%? Is it opposites day?
Because you can't deal with getting called out on your bullshit. lol.
What a massive baby.

I am basing it on my own personal experience.
The fact that most (all) true souls fans hate this DMC poop merely supports my claim.
What can I say, the game took 1 step forward in the action department and then 7 steps back as an RPG.

Yet, it's RPG elements are better than Dark Souls.
I Agree that Demon's Souls is still superior but if you are talking all souls games it defiantly has a leg up in RPG elements and lore compared to Dark Souls. You don't seem to know very much but talk a lot. Bloodborne lore is much deeper and complex than abstract and pieced together Dark Souls, and any "souls fan" who played the games could tell you this.

In what fantasy world are we living in now? Can I fly in this new magical realm of yours? If so I'd love to join you in there :-)
The souls series has barely been an RPG, it's more along the lines of an action adventure game with RPG elements, but it was those elements that made me like souls game more than other action adventure games.
Lore is merely one RPG element and I want you define your sense of the words "deeper and complex." Cause' down here on earth that statement made no sense, considering BB has shitty lore and any true "souls fan" would laugh at you for saying that. Otherwise, explain to me how you believe BB has better/more item variety, classes/builds, choice, interaction, exploration, etc. because those are some of the other 95% of what makes a game a good RPG.
I'll give it this: level design and atmosphere were impressive, but that's it.
Some of the comments are truly pathetic. Bloodborne is a great game and adds to the collection of amazing souls games.

It's simple really, From wanted to reach out to a larger audience and they simplified their game down to DMC so they could rake in as much cash from the new demographic. In doing so they stabbed their once niche fanbase in the back with a buffed +10 shadow dagger.

Hahaha! Yeah right more Sony bullshit! That's why Bloodborne is a copy/paste of the souls games also, there was really nothing else to play on the PS4 except for a steaming pile of shitty indie games. got to laugh at that. Lmao!
The stupidity that can be found on this forum is nothing short of astounding.

Yes. That is how the internets works, or so I am told by the higherups.
I am just pointing out that as much as the cows are ass-hugging Bloodborne, it has left some of its older audience feeling somewhat betrayed.
I mean, I bought a PS4 for this thing and it didn't live up to my expectations. That's $460 down the drain until an exclusive comes out next year.
I bought a PS3 JUST for Demon Souls too and I felt that justified the purchase.

Not exactly true. Its butchered, yes, of course. But the dashes, way better net code and little amount but all viable weapons make up for it, at least it'll do for couple of months. I care about pvp, play a f*ckton of pvp since Demon's Souls and i like BB. It wouldn't be acceptable if they announced a dlc/expansion for Q4 2015 because BB needs new 'thing' now. But if its announced this e3 and then released later in June, it'll be fine, pvp will survive. Really hope their first dlc is pvp focused (at least give us a big variety of weapons/armors and a way to summon bell maidens even if the world's boss is dead).

Yeah.. I was wondering what these butthurt jelly lems and hermits are going on about droughts and no games.... I have over 35 games on my ps4 and only beat about 4.. Exlusvives are not the only game on a system (and this is from someone who plays, PS4, PS3, PC, Vita and 3ds, retro platforms of all sorts, so I have no shortage of games and systems yet I own 35 some ps4 games...
