From an interview with Industry Gamers:

IG asks: Do you literally anticipate that people who are Wii owners right now will say, 'Hey, here's another motion control system similar to Wii. I want to upgrade.' Do you believe you'll see a lot of that?

Answer:

"I think so, sure. That's definitely an audience that we're targeting. One of the beauties of the PS3 with the whole ad campaign, "It Only Does Everything," there's a lot to that. It could mean that a lot of families bring it into the house because it's a Blu-ray player, and [Move] is just another reason for them to bring it into the house. Maybe someone is sitting on the fence about whether or not to upgrade [to PS3] and this could lead them to do it." - Scott Rohde, Vice President of Sony Worldwide Studios

Thoughts on this?

Wouldn't people have to by two move controllers plus the sub controller for each member of the family if they want the full experience? Seems like too much.

in order to jump ship they need it to be cheaper then the wii, discontinue the DS3 and make the move standard, and have some games families would actually like to play.but you cant expect nothing less from Sony and their arrogant selves

Ha yeah right, they dont honestly think people are going to with the $300 price tag, and the controls being priced at $100 each do they? That will just lead them back to square one with a $600 console.

Wii helped bring video games into the main stream, and I really doubt these new players would want to have more than 1 console, most the people I know that got into the Wii craze will never look at PS3/360 games, heck most of them just have Wii sporrt for parties :P

Casuals don't care. They won't care that Move is one milasecond better than the Wii motion +. They Will be enjoying Zelda Wii Motion plus while Sony releases games for Move that would be lucky to be half as good as it.

I am planning on eventually purchasing a PS3, but not for Move. For most games, I prefer the traditional control style anyways.

Core gamers who have a Wii have it for Nintendo games, and casual gamers have it because it's cheap and "hip". I'm not sure who that leaves for Sony.

Of course they want Wii owners to jump ship.... but if they believe that it'll actually happen, then those people need to be fired & replaced by someone with logic.

Will some people that own Wii's buy it... sure they will... will the people who bought Wii's leave the Wii because Sony has a "wand" now? LOL, even asking the question seems ridiculous to me.

Sony's Wand = not standard

Wii's Wand = standard

Sony's Wand = coming late to the game by 4 years

Wii's Wand = has been established since launch 4 years ago

Most casuals know enough people with a Wii that buying extra for one household isn't necessary. They can just bring their own remote and nunchuck over.

what does that have to do with what i said?sony is trying to take a share of the casual market from the wii thats is the point of the wand we all know that they are in last they need to follow suit and get with their motion controls.Casuals in general buy games, accessories, etc in abundance(meaning alot)they dont buy one thing and call it a day thats why casuals if going to buy the wand is going to buy more then one so the whole family can play so yes 300+3 wands is 600 ill grant you 2 wands thats 500 plus tax thats still damn near 600

Whats the appeal? better graphics? Thats all Sony has and Nintendo has an established pool of good motion based games, and their core games have been converted to motion controls. Sony needs to just hope that hardcore players will view it as being worthwhile.

Right because they have teh Mario and Zelda? To me the avearge Nintendo consumer is:

"Wow the PSmove, it looks like the Wiimote + nunchuck but without my favorite games"

Havent exactly met a Wii owner excited about blu ray

Modern_Unit
You'd have a point if that was the average nintendo consumer. The average nintendo consumer these days is a 40 year old soccer mom buying shovel ware titles for her kids and the family to enjoy.

lol sorry but Sony you don't have Mario, Zelda and Metroid. Then you expect some people to drop 400+ dollars to get move and the system.

No doubt some of them will, but I doubt there will be a huge sales boost for Sony, mainly since it's an add-on and there won't be too much software for it. And there's also no saying on whether it will be a success like Wii or not.

Right because they have teh Mario and Zelda? To me the avearge Nintendo consumer is:

"Wow the PSmove, it looks like the Wiimote + nunchuck but without my favorite games"

Havent exactly met a Wii owner excited about blu ray

Mario1331

You'd have a point if that was the average nintendo consumer. The average nintendo consumer these days is a 40 year old soccer mom buying shovel ware titles for her kids and the family to enjoy.

i dont even know where half of yall get this demographic from im starting to believe yall amde this up....

Well it may not be all of Nintendo's customers, but a good chunk are people who don't give a **** about video games and just play Wii Sports, Wii fit, and maybe own mario kart.

I highly doubt it. I dont think the average Wii owner is someone who has any interest in games consoles, never mind owning more than one of them.

Yeah because casuals buy so they can play alone right?

SteveTabernacle

Most casuals know enough people with a Wii that buying extra for one household isn't necessary. They can just bring their own remote and nunchuck over.

I think that most casuals bought the wii for family gaming time which would require multiple controllers in one house, but i could be wrong.
